Mr. Vargas - middle age - One of Marla’s neighbors who ends up giving her the mirror that turns out to be another portal to Utridesma. He’s Ginger’s uncle.

"You can have it for free.”

“Of course. It used to belong to my brother…well…it was in the old family home, which he moved in to. It used to hang in his room, and he decided to keep it as he grew up. His wife gave it to us shortly after their first child, didn’t say why, though. She just seemed like she wanted nothing to do with it. Their daughter would have been your age now.”

“Oh, there was a house fire, and well. She got lost somewhere in the foster care system.”

Teen boy - A teen boy who gets into a debate with Fafalor about the difference between Charmer and Tempter. He only has 3 lines.

“Well they sound like it to me!” 

“Yes it is.”

“What are you? A dictionary?”

Male Luciell - young adult - Luciell whilst in a male form as to not out herself and her girlfriend, Tamian, as a gay couple. She is a mysterious shapeshifter who works with Tamian for an unknown power, trying to kidnap Ginger. She/He only has one line.

“Ah, a human girl.”

Random Smarag - adult - Just a monster passing by that talks to Marla for a moment. He only has 2 lines.

“Argentum City,” 

“Hey, aren’t you Marla?”

Ludo - middle aged - Has been in service to the Pallen’s since he was a youth. He is very loyal, though rather cowardly. Only has about 5 lines.

`“Good to hear you not call me traitor-“

“It is not pity, your majesty, more of…respect. The same that you have been showing me.”

“As you wish, your majesty.”

Sir Dicio - middle aged - A lord and member of the court. He handles Furvus’s case rather harshly, though within reason. Only has 3 lines.

“Well it is lucky that your father had another child and that your sister had a child.”

“Well, seeing as you left us no choice, it seems that we will have to.” 

“Yes. You shall not face trial and be forced to pay for your crimes and be taken from your riches and status."

Clergy Man - adult - A holy man that works for Sacredos. He helps Marla escape from Coal. He only has a line or two.

Yuon - adult - A servant of Queen Failav that gets really nervous about bothering her. Only has a couple lines.

“M-m-m…Well I…er…there’s a…um…well”```

Home Owner - adult - A random monster who Marla and Coal trespass into the home of. He’s understandably not ok with this and gets upset. Only has 2 lines.

“Who goes there?! Trespassers!” 

“Fine! But you will be sleeping in the basement.”

”It had all been an accident. Those happen. Coincidence. Coincidence that she had just so happened to find that little jewelry box in the boys’ closet. She owed her fate-encounter to being asked to collect all the other orphans’ laundry. How strange that not doing such a dreary request would have stopped Marla from completely changing her life.”

“But suddenly Marla was pulled back to reality as she felt something tug at her mind through tugging at her paper.”

”Javis looked as though he wanted to bite his silver-tongue for what he just said. He wasn’t used to addressing children and realized how inappropriate the comment could seem for a “grown man” to say to a young girl in a nightgown.”

“Marla watched the longhaired brunette disappear from view, down the hall. Everything was getting so blurry and she was feeling overheated and stressed. Feeling no control over her body, Marla was overcome with darkness and passed out.”

“Funny that Javis should mention that because Marla could feel her heart cracking, quite literally. The more Javis talked, the more pain Marla felt in her chest.”

“Marla giggled at the very unfitting nickname. There was no way that a man who towered over most like he did, could be called something that insinuated he was tiny. Maybe that was the joke behind his name. But his real name disappointed her. It was so plain and normal, she knew several John’s, and it greatly disappointed her because he looked too eccentric for such a simple name.”

“She told herself that if she was brave enough to put this dress on, then she’d be brave enough to go back to Utridesma.”

(reassuring) “Now don’t get frightened. That’s the last thing I want to do. To make you scared of me.”

(charming) “Good, good. I’m Javis. Javis Carissime. Would you like to accompany me?”

(lecturing) “That’s the only reason I came for you Marla. The ONLY one. You think I wanted to be your friend? A hopeless child like you? How old do you think I am? We are monsters after all. You’re such a strange child, can’t be like everyone else. You were right to not trust me, and this smile. What’s with the sudden change of heart?”

(playful) “Oh? Don’t trust me, eh? And why’s that?”

(coy) “Well then how does someone make friends?”

(witty) “It’s not often I can find someone who can avoid my charm though, especially the ladies.”

(cold) “You should have just locked that box. Left Utridesma to your dreams. Because you’re nothing but a tool to me. I never cared for you, Marla.”

“Of course, you are special, Sweetbird.”

(somewhat blushy) “See you tonight...”

(angry yet worried) “Damn it all, Darleané! I want to help. I do care about her! I said all those things to get her to leave so she wouldn’t get herself killed.

(endearingly) “Ha! Never. Like I could stop coming for you, and after all this drama? You’ll always be able to come to Utridesma. Like I said, you were meant to come here. I promise that I’ll always come for you, even if I have to scour every corner of Homines, I’ll always come back to you.”

“Why are you crying?”

“I’m curious. I also hate to see a beautiful, young girl cry, it’s a terrible crime to make one cry.”

“That’s not right. They should have asked if something was wrong, you’re obviously upset.”

(sadly nostalgic) “It was a very long time ago. He grew up and never came back. Last time I saw him, I think he was fourteen.”

“Take a deep breath. Let it out when it’s ready.”

(reassuring/comforting) “Marla, no. Sh. There’s nothing wrong with you. You were doing something nice and great. Appreciation is a virtue. It’s better to be filled with virtues than vices. Those children were being so cruel to you. That was wrong of them.”

“RUN!”

(gasp) “If that’s the case it’s worse than I thought!”

(frantic) “Javis! I think Marla’s heart broke!”

(angry) “Stop! How could YOU?! She cared about YOU! She adored and believed in YOU! She trusted YOU! And YOU did this to her!”

“I’m Fafalor. My quiet acquaintance over here is Malsom. You’re coming with us.”

“Because if you don’t, my dear co-worker will chase you down. He’s a Hunter.”

“You’re going to have to figure that one out for yourself.”

(pouty) “Don’t be boring.”

“Look, it’s now or never. The portal is going to close up for good tomorrow, not sure exactly when, but it’s going to be tomorrow, whether it be morning or night, it’s not going to be to long that you can enter Utridesma.”

“Dear Three, no. I hate how people often compare US to the likes of THEM. They think there is no difference but we are nowhere near to being the same creatures. It’s insulting.”

“Now, now Malsom. Don’t doubt my powers of temptation. We will go back in the morning and see if she’s changed her mind then.”

“My, my, that drawing of yours, it looks just like someone I know. Did you draw it?”

“It’s absolutely fabulous.”

“Louin Carissime, at your service.”

“But the question I have for you is if you’re just looking for one of us in general or looking for a specific brother. For example: Javis.”

“Oh, how special! Say, are you THE Marla?”

“That poor doll was so excited and worried about meeting you, I’m glad she got to though.”

“Marla!? Are you alright?”

“Did you find Javis?”

“He was there, wasn’t he? Did they try to attack you?”

“MARLA…SO YOU CAME? Splendid. Javis was right, I can smell that you are more than meets the eye. You’re very special, and I bet that you are oh so delicious.”

(almost annoyed) “Crying? That’s not going to help you.”

(flustered) “I-I’m not sure what you’re rambling about.”

“Eat her? that’d be a waste. How many times do you come across such a rare jewel? Even I wouldn’t dare play with those chances. No. I don’t want to eat her. I want her and what she has to offer.”

“If I can’t use your power, then yes, it would be a waste. But if I can’t use you, then what’s the point? You’re better off to me dead.”

“I don’t understand. What is going on? Stop crying! Answer my question and stop this foolish rambling!”

“I’m scared. What’s going to happen to me now? I am going to be in so much trouble for what I have done.”

“Ah! Oh...um...hello there. You must be Marla. Or that is your name, rather what you are called...right?”

“Aha, good, good. I mean not that your name mattered. I wanted to meet with you for sure, and you look the same as when I first saw you, it’s just good that I have your name right is all.”

“Oh no. Well if that’s the rules then I must go I suppose.”

“I’m fine. Finally all done with the book signings. Sorry I haven’t come around as of late. Duty called. My wife wanted to come along but she needed some rest so I told her to stay home.”

“How are you, little princess?”

“Wow, Marla. These are amazing. I’d hire you as my illustrator if given the chance. Is this one Princess Taylor?”

“Oh dear me, where are my manners? How silly of me to forget. I am John Hamilton, but you can call me L’il Hamilton, most people do.”

“Ah, writer’s block. Hm... Well, what kind of person is this girl?”

“I never really got an answer from you last time, but I thought I saw you say yes with your eyes. And Elena and I will try to be the best parents for you. I know we don’t have much to offer but-“

“Hello there. I’m Sharla. May I get a look at you?”

“He’s out back, swimming in the lake.”

“My, you’ve got a really unique facial structure for a human girl.”

“Because he’s not here to bring Marla to Criston, is he?”

(Excited) “We’re free! We’re free! Wink! We’re free!”

“Oh...yes. Well welcome little one! I’m Derrel, but you can call me Wink if you want.”

“Ooh! Can I see?”

“Look at this, Javis! Marla drew a picture of you!”

(irritated) “Stop getting off topic, Fafalor.”

(malicious and cold) “Excellent.”

(impatient) “Enough of this! I’m just going to grab her.”

(frustrated) “She’s not coming.”

“What’s this?”

“I would say I am pretty good. I am Elena by the way, and you are...Marla, was it?”

“Ooh. That’s very pretty. Sound like a name for a princess from a fairytale.”

“Of course I wouldn’t really hurt anyone. I don’t believe violence should ever be a solution or an answer to people’s problem.”

(nonchalant at first but then proceeds with hesitance) “Both... Well, only if you want to answer that, I realize there can be painful reasons for being in an orphanage.”

“I’m sure there is someone who wants you.”

“Oh no, it’s not like that. It’s just complicated, is all. I have a lot medical conditions so my body just isn’t as strong as it used to be.”

“No, nothing like that either. Well at first I have to shave my head for a procedure, but I choose to shave it now. It can grow back whenever I want it too.”

“How would you like to be part of our family? What do you say, want to be a Hamilton?”

“So, do you think you have an idea of how you want to end your story?”

“So that’s what happened. Daniel said he nearly woke the whole room. He was freaking out. Geez, what a scardey-cat. Monsters don’t exist. He probably saw some shadow outside or something.”

“What a freak. Saying he saw monsters is only getting him laughed at.”

“Look. The other day wasn’t personal-“

“Ha! That’s funny! For who? You have no friends. Besides, no one would want this. Why do you even still breathe? You’re just wasting space.”

“What?! I’m trying to be nice and you start acting rude. I don’t have to treat you kindly.”

“Why don’t you want to be my friend?! You don’t have any friends...so why?”

“You’re just being mean.”

“Jessica talks about how I’m not as pretty as her.”

“What?! What is that?! What do I do?!”

“I’m going to get an adult.”

“Hello Marla.” 

“So how is life with your parents?"

“Oh yeah. His name is Risio. I totally thought he was a perverted creep at first, but I warmed up to him. Turns out he actually is a half creep!” 

(solemn) “There was another girl just like you.”

“She made me think of you for whatever reason, just more aggressive. It scared me to think about. How people like me and Jessica made a pitiful monster of not only one person, but more. How many people did we break?”

“But seeing you…it gives me hope. Things worked for you, right?”

Johnny - freckled, spiky raven hair, slightly older than Marla ~has about 3 lines

”Ew, It’s Marla.” (jeeringly with a cackle)

“You forgot something!”

(scrutinizing) “That’s freaky.”

Daniel - only two or so years younger than Marla small thin torso, short blond hair ~has only 1 line

”Hope she didn’t touch any of my stuff. That’d be gross.”

Jacob - smarmy and a tattletale, a bit tough and aggressive ~has about 5 lines

”Yeah. What a weirdo.”

(tattletaling) “See, I told you she was sleeping in the hallway.”

(coyly) “That’s not a good thing you know, to be sleeping here. It’s unsanitary and means that she’s been skipping out on chores. I’m concerned she’s becoming a wild child.”

(upset) “Really?! You’re letting her get away with it?!”

Billy - curly blond hair, clear blue eyes, scrawny, big round glasses ~has about 5 lines

(condescending) ”You believe me. A freak like you HAS too.”

“Why won’t you say it?”

(crying out) “It’s the monster! It’s the monster!”

(almost excited, but still scared) “It’s the monster! See! I told you! It’s the monster!”

Kayla - has only one line, but clearly is a gossip

"Did you hear what Billy said?"

Jessica - acts very sweet around adults but was quite sour and judgmental, ringleader of the bullies ~has about 10 lines

”Billy saw a monster. Or at least that’s what I heard he said from Johnny.”

(demanding) “What’s this?”

“Is this from all of Billy’s monster nonsense?”

“How does it feel to be wasting trees and our precious air, freak?”

(snooty) “Come on. Lunch is about to start.”

“What’s a matter?! What’s going on?”

“My goodness! Where was she?”

 “What is going on?!”

“Ha! Don’t make me laugh! There are no such things as mons-“

(scared/shocked) “Jesus Christ!”

Miss Kefler - adult - One of the adults in charge of the girls. ~has about 15-20 lines

“Good heavens child! Why are you sleeping on the floor?! You missed lunch, chores, and dinner!”

“Marla! Why are you running in the hallways?!”

“We need to have a talk young lady! You keep causing trouble around here! It is not OK! You’re going to influence the other children!”

“Alright, alright. You don’t have to see the headmaster. Just don’t let me catching you do this again.”

“No doubt started by her. I think we need to put her in the timeout room today. She’s been behaving rather poorly as of late and needs to be taught a lesson.”

Miss Adele Conwell - young adult/middle adult - One of the adults in charge of the girls, daughter of headmaster. ~has about 10 lines

“Marla?! Where did you go?! Everyone has been looking everywhere for you! Do you realize the panic you caused?!”

“We’re going to see the headmaster. I know it’s late but he needs to know that you’re OK.”

“Marla, please keep your voice down. You’ll wake the other children.”

(scared) “Father! There are monsters!”

(with a hint of a wink) “No. Trust me, you really want to be there right now.”

(narration) “The ONLY reason why I’m writing in this stupid thing is because the orphanage gave me this dumb journal and is making me. Said it’d help with my issues if I wrote about them. That’s hella stupid. I’m not the one with the issues. They all are. I’m not the one who trip people with no reason or steal shit that isn’t mine or pretend someone doesn’t exist for months or call people by rudeass names. Ha! Right, I have the issues.”

“Watch it, idiot!” 

(journal entry) “I’m not sure how I feel about yesterday. What if I killed someone? I probably did. What have I done? I am trying to, but I can’t feel.”

“You don’t know how I feel! No one does!” 

“Stay the hell out of my life!” 

(upon noticing Marla’s self-inflicted scars) “That’s gross. You did that to yourself, didn’t you?”

(journal entry) “It’s a joke right? Life. One big joke.”

(journal entry) “I didn’t want her to think I wanted her around because then she’d feel like she was always welcome. BUT SHE HAD A CUPCAKE. And, she was here.”

(letter) “P.S. Seriously though, DO NOT attempt to look for me under any circumstances and DO NOT tell Boothrey about this.”

“Ah, yes. You’ve talked about her. A LOT.”

“Boo is NOT my nickname. Do not ever call me it. I call Louin my Boo and he calls me his as a term for endearment. It has NOTHING to do with my name.”

“Demon?! That’s it! Monster is one thing, but demon?!” 

“It’s official: I hate her, and right now, I hate you for making me talk to her.” 

“Don’t call me that! You’ve lost any privilege to even talk to me the moment you left my father. The moment you abandoned me…your own son…”

“What happened to your eyes? Why are you blind?”

“Marla, correct?”

“Don’t worry, I’m not going to hurt you.”

“My partner, Luciell, and I were supposed to capture her for our queen’s army. I came here to tell you that we will no longer pursue her since she’s gone off the radar and we haven’t a clue where she could be. I’m also going to not tell my queen about you, since you are Wink’s friend. You obviously are special, or you would have died from what Luciell did. Oh, she’d like to apologize for that, by the way.”

"You can call me Evie. If you’re the Marla that I think you are, then Sharla has mentioned you before.”

“Don’t worry, nothing bad, I promise.”

“Well, I don’t really like how impersonal writing a check to charity is, so I prefer either gather some people that look like they could use a meal and then I buy them food. Sometimes I hand out flyers for homeless shelters and help out at soup kitchens.”

(narration) “Unlike my servants, tracking her down was rather easy. She had quite the reputation amongst the people of Utridesma and wasn’t exactly in hiding. From what I gathered, this girl would usually visit Argentum or Aurum city, but had the tendency to appear in other cities for short amount of times. She was opening up all of these different portals that seemed to have been closed for a quite while.”

“Do not lie to me.”

“I am in love with you.”

“It is becoming apparent to me that you are completely clueless. How disappointing, I expected better. It’s either that, or you wear an innocent and naïve guise.”

“Queen Furvus would like to have a word with you. We thought it’d be best if your confidantes were involved as well. You might feel more…compliant.”

“I will make sure to keep you warm one way or another.”

(narration) “Now was the time for me to bite my traitorous tongue. Though I was disappointed by the seemingly witlessness of Marla, I still longed for her – shall we say – knowledge.“

“Stop your fuss, Goddess. Everything will be easier if you comply.”

“I am simply content gazing upon you and hearing your voice. Pain has been my life, I think I should not mind if you were to hurt me as well.”

“Boy, you know what to do.”

“Until your heart is in my hands, I will rip the still beating heart out of each an every one of your relations, starting with these four.”

“Oh, but you must. The lives of your companions depend upon it.”

(narration) “What was this havoc that had crawled into and wrecked my kingdom’s tranquility? How could my guards and servants be so easily fooled by this childish ruse? Such imbeciles. All who had a hand would be punished.”

“What is the matter boy? Have you developed some sort of stu-stu-stuttering problem?

(narration) “The way my father taught me was very valuable. When you see something pure, take hold of it and crush with your own bare hands. Then you continue to desecrate what is left until the point that they are not sure whether to turn on you and do they same as what you have done to them or to heed every word you say.”

“Coal! You have come home to me, my love!”

“I just want to do with you what brothers do. Our mothers may have been half-sisters, but they still grew up together, so why couldn’t we?”

(Still in a happy tone) “Thank the Gods, she’s gone. I don’t like her.”

(narration) “I couldn’t help but raise my voice. I was hurt. Truly, I was deeply wounded. My older brother avoided me all of his life because of his mother, so I was OK with it because I imagined Furvus would do something terrible to him, but now he’s telling me that he betrayed her for some girl that I am pretty sure he hardly knew. Coal looked at me in his slightly alarmed way.”

(upset) “Really?! You did that for her of all people?!”

(remorseful) “Hardly. I don’t know if you realized, but we were practically strangers.”

“How insulting! Can’t a man just want to enjoy the company of his brothers?”

“I am sorry that I am a slave to beauty! I just knew that with such exquisiteness in our presence, it would need the attention of one more worthy.”

“Enchanté dollies. I am the more charming brother Barsol.”

“Well, fine then. I’ll just sit here in pain. The pain that YOU caused me. You know this means that you owe me. In fact, all of you do since you did nothing as he battered me out of my mind.”

(narration) “I could tell that he thought himself much above me. And while he was disgusted by everything, I could tell that he was especially disgusted by me (which of course, he had no right to be, he is a sadist who gets off on hurting and destroying others in the most cruel and gruesome ways I had ever heard). He let out a growl-like noise as he made a gesture to a servant behind me. The servant moved closer, but neither said nor did anything.”

“Are you coming along or not? I, for one, do not want to stay in this horrible little dungeon, let alone die in it.”

(narration) “The morning’s frosty air had come from the Gods and greeted the temple while whispering news of a visitor. It told me that a very special guest would arrive that day, who exactly it was and what the time of arrival would be I hadn’t a clue, but he or she or it would be coming today and I would be needed.”

“Is there something I can do for you?”

“Follow me, young one. I need proof that you are really Marleiania before I can tell you anything.”

“No! Of course not. I just…I-I realize this might seem like a strange request, and I understand if you refuse, but would it be alright with you if I could hold you once more before we part?”

“Is there a problem, young man? If so, then by all means, bring it up to me, the highest position, rather than the others. They are under my care and protection.”

“Cut the games, prince. We are both well aware of the situation. But will you do something about it?”

“WHAT WAS SO IMPORTANT THAT YOU HAD TO INTERRUPT OUR LADY TALK?”

“My dear beautiful Blink! Well then this must be important if you are the one to come! What is the matter my darling girl?”

(surprised and possessive) “MY Furvus?”

“Ah! Coal! It’s been such a long time since you came to me for something, my dear boy. I wonder what it might be that you require of me.”

“Not my problem.”

“Now, if that is all you have to ask of me, you may see yourselves out. Of course you can take your time and enjoy my gardens before you leave, but I honestly have nothing to give you. I frankly do not care what the Nightmare Kingdom does with their free time. It is MY Furvus’s affairs, and I know how upset she gets when I touch her things. It’s rather cute, actually. But still, I don’t wish to give you my assistance, so you may leave.”

“What’s the mattor?”

(narration) “Neeo that wes a haggard concept. Ah couldn’t tell if she meant it literally or figuratively.”

“Whoa! Yee weor yellin at the sadistic, fearsum Prince iv Nightmares. You’re a brev yen, Darleané.”

“Guess Javis doesn’t knar mich abyeut those kind iv things, does he?!”

“Canny, cos ah can’t gan.”

(narration) “See, i’m supposed tuh be helpin them myek sum army an' aaal I’ve gotten yeut this are sum canny fashion tips. Life wi' Marla hez elwis been see excitin, but suddenly it’s been geet borin. Ah mean, it’s mintor that ah got tuh meet a Burnor recently, but othor than that, wot a bummor.”

Lady Volucris - adult - A messenger of the gods. She is rather gothic looking and dark and mysterious. She only has a couple lines.

“High Priest, Sacerdos, I have brought you the babe of the Gods, Marleiania. She shall be the physical protector of Utridesma. You are being charged as her protector. How do you respond?”

Twins - teens/young adult - Cat-like twins who can kick butt and like teasing people. Despite looking like cute cat girls, they are rough and tough young mercenaries with cutthroat tendencies, and whilst they seem laidback on the surface, I tend to imagine them sounding a bit gruff. They are highly attached to Malsom and call him uncle. The only have about 5 lines.

“Hey! It’s silly ol’ Fafalor!”

“Oh hey! You’re right!”

“HEY FAF!”

“Uncle Malsom has taken great care of us.”
