Ginger is an orphan just like Marla was and she tells her half of the story through her journals as a parallel to Marla. She has fire powers, though she never knew why. It turns out that she is actually half monster. Ginger is a very foul mouth teen who drops a lot of “f” bombs and doesn’t like to give anyone a chance to explain themselves (she also has a lot of typos in her journals and makes up words). She acts out very aggressively and has no problems committing petty crimes like theft or underage smoking. She’d probably have close to a raspy voice, given that she smokes.
(narration) “The ONLY reason why I’m writing in this stupid thing is because the orphanage gave me this dumb journal and is making me. Said it’d help with my issues if I wrote about them. That’s hella stupid. I’m not the one with the issues. They all are. I’m not the one who trip people with no reason or steal shit that isn’t mine or pretend someone doesn’t exist for months or call people by rudeass names. Ha! Right, I have the issues.”
“Watch it, idiot!”
(journal entry) “I’m not sure how I feel about yesterday. What if I killed someone? I probably did. What have I done? I am trying to, but I can’t feel.”
“You don’t know how I feel! No one does!”
“Stay the hell out of my life!”
(upon noticing Marla’s self-inflicted scars) “That’s gross. You did that to yourself, didn’t you?”
(journal entry) “It’s a joke right? Life. One big joke.”
(journal entry) “I didn’t want her to think I wanted her around because then she’d feel like she was always welcome. BUT SHE HAD A CUPCAKE. And, she was here.”
(letter) “P.S. Seriously though, DO NOT attempt to look for me under any circumstances and DO NOT tell Boothrey about this.”
You have a good voice, though I'm not sure it's what I'm looking for with Ginger. I tend to imagine her with a more gruff and aggressive tone in general. However, you might work well with Ashley or any of the other orphan girls or female extra characters throughout the books (like the twins). I do like what you have, so if you want to check out anyone else or my other projects, I'd love to hear more from you! Thank you for your audition, by the way!
