Gmod Funnies: Season 2 (Round 2)
Project Overview
(This is a continuation of The Gmod Funnies Casting Call for Season 2.)
Gmod Funnies is an animated series that fuses Garry's Mod animation with 2D animation and Looney Tunes slapstick. It has a variety of different segments, most of which take place either in or around the Mushroom Kingdom. The first season was originally based on SMG4 but has since then evolved into a bit of a passion project. The main idea is to embrace the cartoony nature of the Mario universe and bring different twists to certain Mario/Nintendo characters. (There's also some non-Nintendo elements like Sonic and Danganronpa, but the series is written in a way that doesn't come off as glorified fanfiction.)
There's a whole line-up of funny characters, memorable villains, and even a plethora of musical numbers planned. So be sure to audition today. I would love to have you on board for the team.

So I decide to make a copy of this Casting Call and call it the lightning round. For those of you who already have cast roles, you don't have to worry about it. For those of you who are shortlisted, we'll still be pulling from both Casting Calls by the time it's all said and done, so you're all still in the running. Here's a link to the new Casting Call. https://www.castingcall.club/projects/gmod-funnies-season-2-round-2-2-9a2c5c80-0f2a-4067-98c8-b64e3022c43c

Final Push
We're at the homestretch now. The Casting Call is almost over, and we just marked our final pushback of the due date, that being March 15th. In case any of you need a refresher on who's still available, here's a YouTube Short that displays all 25 open roles. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ocVd4O3OFBs -
Quick update on the update video
The roles for Nabbit and Donald Duck have been re-open. WS Inkling told me that things weren't gonna work out on his end, of which I and everyone else on the team respect his decision and wish him nothing but the best. But with that said, if anyone here wishes to take his place, just remember that you all have until March 10th. For context, Nabbit is an everyman that works multiple jobs to pay his student loans, and Donald Duck is...well...Donald Duck. -
Update Video
Hey y'all. I just got through with another update video on Casting Call Round 2. https://youtu.be/EZL9S3_9RHY This video goes over the results of what we have so far. Keep in mind that a lot of auditions were cast/shortlisted offsite. That and some characters may flip-flop between being cast, shortlisted, or uncast. And of course, the deadline was pushed back one last time to March 10th, Mar10 day. So there's still plenty of time to audition if you haven't yet. Good Luck. :D -
Casting Call Advertisements
Hey gang. Wanted to tell you all two things. One, for those of you unaware, the deadline was pushed back to the 27th. Figured I'd add an extra week for some of you out there. Secondly, I made some videos advertising other aspects of the Casting Call, including music, singing, and directing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6CfnUXQYus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fd0PtYvDgNw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJV7ZnJjXsQ Some of these were made almost a week ago but I figured I'd show them off here. Hope you're all enjoying yourself. The Casting Call is almost done so get your auditions in fast if you wanna participate.
After her abrupt death back in Season 1, Orange Inkling finds herself in limbo where she ends up becoming corrupted by an ancient artifact known as an Inky Halo. This artifact has transformed her into the main antagonist, Orange Angel, who seeks to Destroy Mario and corrupt the entire multiverse. Her voice gives off a dark and ominous aura that frightens anyone who first meets her. She's cruel, demanding, and always knows how to toy with her victims. Make sure to make her sound extra menacing.
Well Well Well, it seems as though you thought it was all a bad dream. But I'm real alright. I'm far from just a figment of your imagination.
I brought you two here for a reason you know. It's because of a certain charisma you both tend to share. Rejection, anger, and the urge to destroy someone because of what they represent.
Soon, with my full army in toe, I'll become unstoppable. And then, the world...no...the entirety of existence, will soon know my name as Orange Angel and get what it rightfully deserves! *laughs evilly*
This is for the singing voice of Orange Angel. The same rules apply here as with the normal voice role. You're just singing instead of talking.
I've picked out different lines from certain songs based on the genre that best represents the character (The names of each song, along with the artist, will be in parentheses.)
Orange isn't usually the kind of person who enjoys singing. When she does sing, however, she usually does so in a soft-spoken, balladesque style. Something slower-paced and deeply emotional. This makes her songs a nice change of pace from all the other musical numbers which are more upbeat and catchy. That's not to say Orange doesn't partake in those types of songs from time to time. Just make sure her beautiful singing voice is one that can work in both instances.
I admit that in the past I've been a nasty
They weren't kidding when they called me, well, a witch
But you'll find that nowadays, I've mended all my ways
Repented, seen the light, and made a switch
("Poor Unfortunate Souls" from The Little Mermaid)
Hello Darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence
("Sound of Silence" by Simon and Garfunkel)
(If you have any other songs that you think best fit this character, you're free to pick one out and sing a verse from that.)
Anyone who's a fan of Danganronpa knows the kind of character that Junko is. A high school girl with a multi-personality disorder and a major lust for despair. Despite being dead, she was revived by Orange with the power of the Inky Halo and now chooses to serve her with her army of Monokuma bots. Since Danganronpa is primarily a visual novel, I figured the best way to choose the right voice was to pull some lines from the actual games. After all, to replicate one's voice is to look back at what they'd say in a situation. (I also labeled what personality she has for each line in parentheses.)
(Smart Personality) For my plan to work, someone had to be able to control the killing game from behind the scenes. The so-called mastermind had to operate Monokuma, keep an eye on everyone, things like that. But after looking at the situation, I determined it would be impossible for Mukuro to perform such duties.
(Cute Personality) We were the Ultimate Despair ya know? So we never had any kind of hope, or expectation. No, I've felt despair for as long as I could remember, like I never should've been born at all.
(Depressed Personality) I got bored of getting bored. Jeez. Even when I'm dead, I still get bored. This sucks.
It's the King of Swing himself, Donkey Kong. DK in this series is a mix of Seth Rogan (for obvious reasons) and Sam from Sam and Max. He's laid back, enthusiastic, and is usually no-nonsense when it comes to protecting his friends and his banana horde. His little pal Diddy is much more headstrong and impatient, with DK usually having to keep him in line. (Diddy already has a VA so he's not up for grabs.)
Since the Mario Movie has DK played by Seth Rogan, I want to try to do something similar for DK in Gmod Funnies.
Alright K. Rool, you know damn well not to mess with my Banana Horde. Now drop the stash if you wanna avoid an old-school Kong Beatdown.
You crack me up little buddy. But in all seriousness, we got work to do. Cranky said he's going out for the evening and he needs us to guard the Crystal Coconut.
For the love of shaved pineapples Diddy, do you have to shoot every unidentified object with a peanut gun? It's just a barrel of watermelons.
This is for the singing voice of Donkey Kong. The same rules apply here as with the normal voice role. You're just singing instead of talking.
I've picked out different lines from certain songs based on the genre that best represents the character (The names of each song, along with the artist, will be in parentheses.)
Being the King of Swing, that's the genre he would be most familiar with. But with that said, much like that of the DKC TV show, he can sing in a variety of different musical styles. As such, all the verses I've chosen come from the many songs of said TV show. His singing voice would be much lower since his voice is more akin to that of Seth Rogan. I don't know if Seth has any singing roles under his belt but just try to envision how you'd think he would sing.
I don't know what's happenin' to me
I'm gettin' all the blame for things I didn't do
Can anybody tell me just what I did wrong?
I'm all alone and I'm so confused
("I'm Nobody's Hero" from Kong for a Day)
I wanna know the secrets that the crystal holds
And all the magic power that it brings
I'm the big Kahuna! I should know what's going on
Inka Dinka, tell me everything!
("Tell Me Everything" from Legend of The Crystal Coconut)
Now listen here, little buddy
Rome wasn't built in a day
If you look at the bigger picture
All of the obstacles will fade away
The Coconut Chill should give you a thrill
The road to success leads over the hill
("Over The Hill" from The Big Chill Out)
Funky Kong in this show is based on Hunter S. Thomson (More specifically Raoul Duke from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas). He provides the Kongs with weapons, transportation, and to a lesser extent...drugs. If you take a look at some clips from 1998's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, you can probably get a good idea as to what Funky should sound like in Gmod Funnies.
Folks on DK Island call me Funky Kong. I serve a multitude of jobs as a pilot, mechanic, weapons expert, and most recently, a journalist. I started writing in a style that I like to call "Kong Journalism". It's something I've been working on for quite some time.
We'd best be careful here Kongs, this is Kremling Country. Just thinking about it makes me feel light-headed. Maybe one of you should fly this thing.
Look man, it's not like I need all these drugs. It's just that once you get locked into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. It's enough to drive any kong crazy.
He has no style. He has no grace. This Kong has a funny face. Lanky can kinda be seen as comic relief in the Donkey Kong segment of the show. Being an Orangutan, one of the first voices that comes to mind for Lanky is that of King Louie from The Jungle Book. Much like Louie, he also likes to dance and party. He is a monkey after all.
I'm not one for runnin around collectin bananas all day. I'm a party animal. I'd rather be out dancin with the ladies and playin a tune on my trombone.
Why don't ya sit down old friend? Have some grapes. Tell ol' Lanky whatcha got on your mind.
(Annoyed) Those good for nothin' Kremlings. I'll get 'em. I'll bop 'em. They'll regret the day they messed with me.
Lemonwing is a 21-year old inktoling (Half-Inkling, Half Octoling) meant to satirize the over-sexualization of inklings. Think of her as a lust-driven version of Queen from Deltarune Chapter 2. She may as well be a fetish character but doesn't do anything that extreme whenever she's on-screen. She also has the power to change her size making her an interesting supervillain. My first thought for her voice would be Panty from 'Panty and Stocking' mixed in with a bit of Rei Ryghts from the English dub of 'Hyperdimension Neptunia'.
*giggles evilly to herself* I've been expecting you for quite some time now. Things get a little boring here at the Lemon Towers, so having an actual man here can be quite exciting if you catch my drift.
(Annoyed) *groans* Why do so many people think I'm underaged? If I can rule over a tower filled with adoring servants, then I should be old enough to sexually do whatever I want...as long as the censors allow it of course.
(Seductively) I'm not like all the other girls. I can change the shape and size of my body to fit any man's needs.
(Serious) Unless they have a thing for fat chicks. Even a sour bitch like me has standards.
This is for the singing voice of Lemonwing. The same rules apply here as with the normal voice role. You're just singing instead of talking.
I've picked out different lines from certain songs based on the style that best represents the character (The names of each song, along with the artist, will be in parentheses.)
Lemonwing's style has a mix of Pop and Electro Swing. She loves to sing more than any other character on the show. Of course, being the most lustful character, she usually sings about romance, sex, and some of her own little kinks. (Again while being as PG-13 as possible)
I'm the kind of girl that girls don't like
I'm the kind the boys fantasize
I'm the kind that your momma and your daddy were afraid you'd turn out to be like
I may seem unapproachable
But that's only to the boys who don't have the right approach or ride
That makes a girl like me wanna hop in and roll
("Sexy, Naughty, Bitchy Me" by Tata Young)
Ooh that man is like a flame
And ooh that man plays me like a game
My only sin is I can't win
Ooh I wanna love that man
Ooh that man is on my list
And ooh that man I wanna kiss
My only sin is I can't win
Ooh I wanna love that man
("That Man" by Caro Emerald)
(If you have any other songs that you think best fit this character, you're free to pick one out and sing a verse from that.)
Nose Guy is Lemonwing's trusty assistant who keeps everything in the Lemon Towers in check. He also acts as a bit of a mentor to Lemonwing, occasionally giving her advice and keeping her in check. He's usually calm and collected but can be pretty easy to irritate. You'd probably be too if you were to deal with someone like Lemonwing on a regular basis. He tries to stay professional when dealing with someone other than her. And of course, being a general, he commands the queen's lemon soldiers with an iron fist. A General of his character should sound sweet and suave when in calmer environments, but more hostile and demanding when being confronted.
I am ze General Nose Guy, leader of ze Lemon colony. Here at ze Lemon Towers, we provide our guests with only ze finest of luxuries. Come, allow me to give you a grand tour of our fine establishment.
(Angry) You idiots! Are you just going to stand there and let those fools get away? Get them!
(Calm) Take it easy miss Lemonwing. You cannot expect a man to fall right into your arms. Lots of men are too focused on their everyday lives to find a girl...that or they just refuse to leave their mother's basements.
This is for the singing voice of Orange Angel. The same rules apply here as with the normal voice role. You're just singing instead of talking.
I've picked out different lines from certain songs based on the style that best represents the character (The names of each song, along with the artist, will be in parentheses.)
Nose Guy is one of those characters that I can't really give a proper style of music. He does sing alongside all the other Lemon Soldiers but doesn't have any solos planned. This is why I'm allowing people to audition for singing roles with their demo reels. It saves a lot of the stress of coming up with something on the spot.
(Find a song that you think best fits this character. You can audition with a verse or two from that song.)
Acid Gal is the secondary general of the Lemon Army. She usually leads all of the Lemon Gals in the tower. The girls tend to focus more on dancing and entertaining everyone in the Lemon Showroom. Acid Gal, however, chooses to stick more to her job as both a general and a nurse. Encouraging the soldiers to work hard and fixing them up when their hurt. I'd say give her a voice that best fits a Shy Gal. Just remember that much like Lemonwing, she loves to sing.
I always wonder what exactly goes through miss Lemonwing's head. She's always with a new guy every single week. It's almost rather alarming.
Alright soldiers, let's do our best today. We need to make sure this tower is in tip-top shape, got it?
Well, that was fun but I should probably get back to work. A lot of the men on the Army aren't as "motivated" when I'm not around.
This is for the singing voice of General Acid Gal. The same rules apply here as with the normal voice role. You're just singing instead of talking.
I've picked out different lines from certain songs based on the style that best represents the character (The names of each song, along with the artist, will be in parentheses.)
Acid Gal pretty much has the same style as Lemonwing. Being a Lemon Gal, she's usually entertains the other guys on the showroom while she's off the clock. Unlike Lemonwing, she's more likely to keep it clean.
Come on let us lose control
Nice and neat is not the way we roll
Free yourself, I bet you can't
If you wanna join the club, come in you are my man
("Dirty Jazz" by !DelaDap)
Here kitty, kitty
There's too much demon blood
In these self appointed angels
Acting like you're comatose
Speaking like a country rose
Or a preacher's pet in drag
("Demon Kitty Rag" by Katzenjammer)
(If you have any other songs that you think best fit this character, you're free to pick one out and sing a verse from that.)
As his surname implies, Bill is a Sonic Fanboy. He may not look like it but he's actually based on Wile E. Coyote. And much like the Coyote, he's also a super genius. His goal is to catch his favorite hedgehog, Sonic, and put him in one of his many Sonic Fanscripts (which are smartly written btw). Given the nerdy nature of the character, his ideal voice is that of Mandark's from Dexter's Laboratory. Unlike Wile E. Coyote who rarely talks at all, Bill E. Fanboy is the kind of character who doesn't know when to shut up.
I suppose I shall introduce myself. My name is Bill E. Fanboy. Most people call me Billy but really it's just Bill. Unlike most fanboys, I happen to be a genius, and as such, I am going to use said genius to pitch one of my many fan scripts to Sonic the Hedgehog.
Y'know people used to tell me back in high school that running with your arms behind isn't an efficient way to run. But if it works for Sonic, and to a lesser extent, Naruto, then why the heck can't it work for me?
I seem to be going about this all wrong. I might know everything he's going to do, but that's not going to help me since he knows everything I'm going to do. Also yes, that is a Sonic OVA reference.
Super Mecha Techmaster the 1st (SMT1 for short) is meant to be one of the more stand-out villains of the series. He doesn't appear until later in Season 2 but his first impression is guaranteed to make an impact. He's actually from another dimension where he was once a human, but after getting stuck in a wormhole, he decided to turn himself into a cyborg and make his way into this dimension. This is a character that's practically insane, resulting in him going back and forth between being goofy and being serious. He also has a lot of steampunk influence, having the ability to turn his limbs into a variety of weapons. My idea for his voice takes a lot of cues from John Sprocket, the creator and lead singer of the Steampunk band 'The Cog is Dead'. I'd also imagine he'd sound like Gundham Tanaka from Danganronpa 2, especially during his more serious moments. Whichever voice you give him, make sure to make him sound extra dangerous and "Mechanically Insane" as he likes to say.
(Serious) You may be more athletic than the average human, but that doesn't make you any less prone to physical pain. Me on the other hand, I'm much more flexible after making myself mechanical. Being half-robot can certainly improve your structure.
*laughs evilly* Talk about going up a bolt-filled creek without a paddle. I've got more weapons stored in my body than an action movie set.
(Goofy) Who are you calling crazy? I'm more than crazy. I'm Mechanically Insane. There's a difference between the two y'know.
This is for the singing voice of SMT1. The same rules apply here as with the normal voice role. You're just singing instead of talking.
I've picked out different lines from certain songs based on the style that best represents the character (The names of each song, along with the artist, will be in parentheses.)
SMT1 is another character that really likes to sing. He is based on a steampunk musician after all. Since 'The Cog is Dead' is probably the biggest inspiration for SMT1, all the songs listed here are from that very same band. We did try to contact the actual John Sprocket but unfortunately, he's a bit too busy. So in the meantime, if you think you can pull off a good John Sprocket, then have at it old chap.
Here's the official Youtube channel for reference: https://www.youtube.com/c/thecogisdead
Oh, Mr. Hamilton, what have you done?
Look at this terrible trend you've begun!
You make me sick, you contemptible dog
I blame you for the death of the cog!
("The Death of the Cog" by The Cog is Dead)
Once in a quiet little town
In just a couple hours once the sun went down
A crew began assembling a thrilling new attraction
More exciting than a merry-go-round
("We All Have Fears" by The Cog is Dead)
On and on I'm just another cog in the machine
All my life I slave for a reward that's never seen
Doubt that I'll get out of here, but lord knows I can dream
Something more than being just another
Cog in the machine
("Another Cog in the Machine" by The Cog is Dead)
One of the only characters taken from the SMG4 series, Enzo works for SMT1 as his "assistant". Unfortunately, he doesn't exactly like his job, only really doing it for a paycheck. As a result, Enzo here is portrayed as annoyed, boring, and one who rarely keeps a smile while working. He's like Squidward in a way. My advice is to give him the voice of someone who could really care less about what's going on at the moment.
(bored) Hello and welcome to Techmaster Emporium. My name is Enzo and I will be your tour guide today. Not like I have a choice.
Everytime I talk with the boss he always has to go on and on about musical numbers. It doesn't help how much I HATE singing.
(bored) And if you look over to your right, you'll see the robotic test subjects left behind by Dr. Freakenstien. Truly a master of experimentation.
Dexter Montano is a kid with two different lifestyles. One as a teenage celebrity, and one as the feared kid on the streets, Kid Slasher. Despite "slasher being in the name, it's rare for this kid to actually kill someone. He mostly uses his persona as a means to keep scumbags away from him. He doesn't really talk like a kid either. He seems to be an edgy teen who after losing both his mom and his baby brother, decided to go live on the more shady side. He's technically one of the villains but doesn't do anything that evil until he meets up with his pokémon friend, Pikacute. My first thoughts on his voice would be something like Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu from Danganronpa 2.
Alright, listen pal, I'm gonna give you two options. Either you take the money and get outta here, or I give you more than a stupid loan to worry about.
I didn't kill her, alright? It was...*sighs* it was my little brother Johnathan. Didn't even know the little bastard could use a knife but...he was certainly pretty brutal with it.
I usually try to keep my "Kid Slasher" identity a secret. You morons are three of the only ones who actually know about it. So you better keep your lips tight...or else. *gives them a menacing glare*
Nabbit is the guy that seems to work multiple jobs in this universe. He can be a waiter, cashier, and even a police officer. He's like Larry from 'The Amazing World of Gumball', a hard-working everyman who usually isn't easy to fool. Just give him the voice of an everyday man. (as well as one who can sing, he does have a singer role after all)
Phew, working multiple jobs sure can be pretty stressful for a guy like me. Regardless, I gotta do what I gotta do. Those student loans aren't gonna pay themselves.
(Bored) Hello and welcome to the Clown Motel. Right now we only have two rooms available, that being the roach room and the murder room. Which one do you want?
I think it's best if I drive next time. It's bad enough you can barely fit in the car with your big ball shape and all.
This is for the singing voice of Nabbit. The same rules apply here as with the normal voice role. You're just singing instead of talking.
I've picked out different lines from certain songs based on the style that best represents the character (The names of each song, along with the artist, will be in parentheses.)
Being an everyman, Nabbit is a guy who only sings on occasions. Be it humming, whistling, or having a part-time job as a barbershop quartet member. When he does sing, I'd like to think he can sing rather well. I don't really have a style for him. Just go with whatever works best. It's probably what he would do.
(Find a song that you think best fits this character. You can audition with a verse or two from that song.)
Would you believe me if I said this toad is meant to sound like Popeye The Sailorman?
Anyways, Ol' Pappy is a simple toad who runs an advertising company. He's heroic, no-nonsense, and usually keeps a level head. What makes him unique from the other toads is, again, he talks just like Popeye. So if you can do a good Popeye voice, then you're pretty fit for the job.
Name's Pappy my friend, Pappy Ad Toad. Here at Ad Shroom Incorporated, we makes the finest ads in the Mushroom Kingdom. So if you needs something advertised, give us a call and we'll get ya started. *chuckles like Popeye*
Perhaps it's best if I go with the two of yas. I happen to know me way around the Lemon Towers.
(mumbling) I tell ya, the things they let people get away with around here. It's like don't have a proper government.
This is for the singing voice of Pappy Ad Toad. The same rules apply here as with the normal voice role. You're just singing instead of talking.
I've picked out different lines from certain songs based on the style that best represents the character (The names of each song, along with the artist, will be in parentheses.)
Pappy is probably best suited for sailor-like songs, being based on Popeye and such. He may be scratchy but he can still sing songs that can be rather catchy. He often sings with a group as well. He doesn't usually get any solo performances. He is what he is after all.
I'm Popeye The Sailor Man (toot)
Popeye The Sailor Man (toot)
I'm strong to the finish
Cause I eats me spinach
I'm Popeye The Sailor Man (toot)
("I'm Popeye The Sailor Man" by Sammy Lerner)
(If you have any other songs that you think best fit this character, you're free to pick one out and sing a verse from that.)
Goomba Bill is a mob boss who used to be the right-hand man of Clarence Carnie the 1st. After the death of his partner, however, he was left to be nothing but a pawn in the gang of misfits formed by Clarence's son, Clarence Carnie the 2nd. As such, he has sort of a grudge towards the young leader and has plans to take back his role of carnival leader. He's a cruel character who order's his 3 goomba lackeys around. I feel it's best for his voice to reflect how much of a mob boss he really is.
I used to run this here carnival with my pal Clarence. Things were perfect up until he died and left his son in charge. I never liked the kid, especially not after what he's done to the place.
You three knuckleheads listen to me. That boy and his gang are having a show tonight. I want you to do everything you can to ruin it, alright?
Let me put this in terms you'll understand son. If you wanna live up to your father's legacy, you gotta learn to be greedy. That's how the world works.
Tak is one of Clarence's assistants of mischief. She's a flamboyant country koopa with a huge passion for both carnival and circus life. Her loveable attitude and care towards the other misfits are pretty much why Clarence hired her in the first place. There isn't much I can say outside of make her sound like a fun-loving country girl.
Boy do I love the carnival life. There's games, rides, and all kinds of interesting setpieces. I really outta bring my folks here some time.
Oh, well we must apologize for the intrusion. We're crew members of the carnival that's coming to town. It's run by our boss, Clarence Carnie, wonderful guy by the way.
Hmm, these must've been leftover from Clarence's snake oil rack. Why does he sell that stuff anyway? Certainly never found a use for it myself.
Boney is the second of the two assistants of mischief. Unlike Tak, Boney here is much more serious and no-nonsense. He rarely lets anything get in the way of his job though he does question some of the decisions made by the other crew members. To him, it's all in the business of making sure Clarence's carnival business is successful. I imagine that Boney would sound like Ezio from Assassin's Creed. A sort of half Spanish half Italian accent.
This looks like the place. Though I do not remember Clarence saying anything about a watchtower. Do you think it will get in the way of construction?
You may call me Boney. I work with my partner Tak to help with things around the carnival.
Something tells me that the goombas are getting into trouble. I will have to put a stop to their nonsense.
The original cartoon animal, Felix the Cat, is seen in this series as a new recruit of Airship Pirate Cats. He's happy-go-lucky and always has an eye for adventure. He can be troublesome at times but has a childlike innocence to him. Being a cartoony character, it only makes sense he has a Mickey Mouse like voice. You can use this video of the classic 1959 Felix The Cat for reference. https://youtu.be/amGbBFsiuzc
Gee Captain, it sure is nice of you to let me be part of your pirate crew. I've never been on an airship before. Well, maybe I have and I just forgot about it.
Don't worry, I've got my magic bag of tricks with me. It'll get us outta this sticky situation.
Boy, that sure was fun but uh...you think the captain will scorch our hides when he finds out we went out overnight?
Rita is a member of the Airship Pirate Cats. Sticking to how she acts in Animaniacs, she's one of the lazier members of the crew. Being that she's a rather minor character, there isn't much I can say about her. I decided to pull from some of her lines in the show for the audition lines. If you can replicate her voice, that's good enough for me.
First item on the agenda is to find some food. You check the side streets, I'll try the main drag.
The poor cat in the rain look. It never fails.
Y'know, we never should've taken that left turn at Pacoima. This doesn't look like Burbank.
In this series, Donald Duck is a member of the underwater ducks. Makes sense considering he's a sailor. You'd think this would be one of the easier ones for us to find but we surprisingly don't have a lot of team members who can do a good Donald Duck impression. If you can do an impression where we can at least understand what he's saying. You got yourself a job.
(Just say anything as Donald Duck. I don't really care.)
Paradise Petey is the ruler of a small island that he calls "Piranha Paradise". He has no villainous intent. All he ever wants to do is relax and party. He's a pretty chill plant with a lot of swagger, just like his character in Mario Strikers Charged. His voice is pretty much like the plant, Audrey ll, from 'Little Shop of Horrors' mixed with a more soothing Jamaican voice, one that would usually tell you to relax and enjoy the sun.
You seem rather tense my little friend. Why don't you relax for a bit and let Paradise Petey soothe your mind and soul?
Down here at Piranha Paradise, we strive for relaxation and fun. Get away from all that stress of everyday life. We don't judge how long you stay.
This is for the singing voice of Paradise Petey. The same rules apply here as with the normal voice role. You're just singing instead of talking.
I've picked out different lines from certain songs based on the style that best represents the character (The names of each song, along with the artist, will be in parentheses.)
Petey has a certain island style to him. His character takes a lot of cues from chill songs like Gansta's Paradise. This results in him usually doing relaxing island songs along with some laid back-rap. He's a plant that usually likes to be suave when it comes to singing.
Been spendin' most their lives
Livin in a gangsta's paradise

Darling, it's better
Down where it's wetter
Take it from me

(If you have any other songs that you think best fit this character, you're free to pick one out and sing a verse from that.)
This is technically one of the more seasonal characters, but we plan to flesh her out as the series progresses. Pumpkin is the spirit of Halloween and as a character, she's probably one of the more interesting ones lore-wise. In terms of personality, she's pretty much a tsundere. Usually acting cold and angry towards others, but only because she's scared of losing them if she gets too attached. Halloween is pretty much the only time of the year that she enjoys as she absolutely loves candy (especially chocolate). Pumpkin isn't a moody character, she's more so a character with anger issues. So take that into consideration when coming up with a voice for her. (This character was originally created by AshieVeemo btw)
I'll have you know that Halloween night is my time to shine. My name's Pumpkin for a reason. So back off!
You mean we've been going around in circles? That's it! We're lost! We don't even know where we're going!
*sighs* I don't know if I'm ever going to find out who I really am. All I remember is waking up the way I am now...with a sudden urge for chocolate.

Pumpkin likes to sing a lot of Halloween songs, but she also tends to sing more emotional songs, much like Orange. Try to find a nice balance between the two. A singing voice of someone who tends to question herself but isn't afraid to be upbeat and catchy. (This character was originally created by AshieVeemo btw)
Hey c'mon, it's getting dark so why not start
Our trip tonight, do you think we'll be alright?
So you see, they kinda put a spell on me
Tonight I crave the candy that the humans give away
("Happy Halloween" covered by JubyPhonic)
I sense there's something in the wind
That feels like tragedy's at hand
And though I'd like to stand by him
Can't shake this feeling that I have
("Sally's Song" from The Nightmare Before Christmas)

This is another character that's technically seasonal but will become a mainstay as time goes on. This time we have Cole, one of the two spirits of Christmas. The other spirit is his sister Merrien. He's happy, merry, and has a huge crush on Pumpkin despite them being polar opposites personality-wise. Both his character and voice are a combination of Pinky from 'Pinky and The Brain' and Wallace from 'Wallace and Gromit'. He always tries to find the good in everything, despite not being all there in the head.
Hello! My name is Cole, and this is my lovely sister Merrien. Together, we're the spirits of Christmas!
Well Pumpkin, Merrien and I figured that since you love Halloween, and we showed you what Christmas was like, maybe you can show us what Halloween is like?
Oh boy! Christmas is almost here. I need to grab my candy canes and wake up Merrien.
This is one of those roles that we really need to cast multiple people for. Much like a lot of musical groups, you can't get by with just one singer. You need a whole cast to get those musical juices flowing.
This is for the male singers. We're not looking for any hardcore death metal or anything. I'm thinking of something more in line with a barbershop quartet or even musical groups like 'The Beetles' and 'Green Day'. (Reminder: The most prominent genres in the show are Jazz, Big Band, Electro Swing, Steampunk, and Pop.)
(No real audition lines. Just sing whatever song you want.)

This is for the female singers. Despite the show's main inspiration being rubber hose animation, a lot of the musical inspiration comes from not just swing, but also Vocaloid and a few pop songs. There's a lot of good female sung music out there, so I have high hopes for this role. (Reminder: The most prominent genres in the show are Jazz, Big Band, Electro Swing, Steampunk, and Pop.)

One of the big changes for this season is creating an actual music score. Basically, if you've heard of the Looney Tunes composer, Carl Stalling, the musical score itself is meant to be composed like that with quotations of certain Nintendo songs spliced into it. Mix that in with some songs from 'Spongbob' and 'Ren and Stimpy' and you got yourself a Gmod Funnies Score.
In terms of Musical Numbers, there's a variety of genres for the ones we have planned. The most prominent genres in the show being Jazz, Big Band, Electro Swing, Steampunk, and a bit of Pop of course.
If you wanna look more into the style of music we're going for, check out this video from Eddache: https://youtu.be/vL7BKZ-M-Xw

Writing songs for Gmod Funnies isn't easy. We have a variety of musical numbers we want to do ranging from covers/parodies to more original songs that are sometimes inspired by other songs. If you know how Animaniacs writes their musical numbers, that's basically what we're going for. With villain songs, ballads, love songs, etc.

Despite being the creator of Gmod Funnies, I've learned over time that I am not good at directing on my own. So, if you have experience in directing more cartoony projects, we'd love to have your input. Whether your strong suit is voice direction, animation direction, or song direction, this is a role we definitely wish to have filled. Just make sure you have the time and energy to do so.
