Fortnite Film : Crossing Paths
Project Overview
Hello! So, while working on our other Fortnite film (which you can find HERE, and auditions are still open for) we had the idea for another one. And so, while we're waiting for voice actors to roll in for that project, we have been working on writing this one, and once the roles have officially been cast and we're waiting for the audio files to come to us, we will be filming this project so it's ready to roll! We expect the first one to be great, but this one to be even greater! We have learned so much about the cameras in Fortnite, and are working really hard for an even greater story structure and character development.
If you auditioned for the last one, we'd love to have you audition for this one too, and hopefully include everybody on this (it's going to be very hard to choose!)
This Fortnite film will explore an entirely different theme. We are going to take almost a Wreck-It-Ralph approach, in which a character (aware they are in a video game) somehow ends up in a game that is not their own. He will have to explore this new world, and face many trials, in hopes of getting home someday. He will come across many different people and I'd love for the voices to be pretty up to your own interpretation of the characters. So, fire away! Give it your best! And let us hear it :D

This is the main character, who has somehow managed to make his way into a video game that is not his own. This alternate game universe is very confusing and hard for him to navigate -- he has to learn a lot of new things, and starts to take on a whole new way of thinking as he goes along his journey. He starts out a rather arrogant, careless, sarcastic, and selfish person -- but grows into a compassionate and brave hero by the end.
I would like him to have a North American accent, and be either older teen or young adult as far as age. He is grown, but not fully matured, and I'd like his voice to reflect that.
(Please keep in mind that these are just sample lines, not lines from the actual film, as the script is still in the writing process and subject to change. These are just examples of things the character WOULD say and do not reflect the actual writing style.)
{screaming as he's falling from the sky}
{he hits the ground}
{panting and groaning as he stands up}
Where am I?! How did I get here?! .... and who are YOU?!
{laughing} Wait... let me get this straight... you honestly think I don't know how to use a gun?
Look, buddy -- I know EXACTLY what I'm doing. And I've got two eyes to prove it!Hello? Hellooooo? Can you hear me?
Are you just going to keep talking in circles?
Why is nobody responding? None of this makes any sense!
This is the main character (Zane)'s best friend, who is left behind in the former game. He appears in this new universe but as a very different type of person, not at all like the best friend that Zane knew and loved. Until he eventually finds a way to travel between the two universes to save his best friend.
His voice is very open to interpretation, I would prefer someone with a middle-aged adult voice, but not necessary -- any sort of accent is fine as long as it is clear enough for the audience to understand.
(Please keep in mind that these are just sample lines, not lines from the actual film, as the script is still in the writing process and subject to change. These are just examples of things the character WOULD say and do not reflect the actual writing style.)
{panicked} No, Zane! Don't touch that!
{very confused} What the hell?...{building up the courage} Alright, Bruce... you can do this! Just remember... you're doing this... for Zane. Your best friend... in the whole world. Okay... come on... we go in 1... 2... -- ..... {failed to do it} Okay, okay, I got nervous... Let's try again... Ready, Bruce? 1... 2........ 3! {jumps}
{screaming in complete panic as he falls from the sky}
{rushed} Zane! I'm so happy I found you! Quickly -- we don't have a lot of time. I've found a way to get you out of here!
{determined} We're in this together. I'm not leaving your side.
She is the Princess of the world that she ends up in. Unlike her parents, she leans more towards being a caring, kind, gracious ruler, and has many disagreements with her parents, the King and Queen.
I'm thinking she would sound a very young and pleasant, but also capable... think Fiona from Shrek, pretty and sweet but totally capable of being a bad@$$. Any accent is fine as long as it's clear what she is saying!
(Please keep in mind that these are just sample lines, not lines from the actual film, as the script is still in the writing process and subject to change. These are just examples of things the character WOULD say and do not reflect the actual writing style.)
{whispering} Come with me. I'll get you out of here.
I know all the guards schedules... this should be easy.
Watch this!
My parents... can be a little bit intense at times.
That's right. I'm the Princess. Is there a problem?
Can't handle the fact that a girl saved your ass?
Mother... are you sure this is the correct way to -
Guards! Seize him!
{angry} He's LYING!
She is the Queen of the world that Zane ends up in. She isn't just your sit-back-and-do-nothing kind of queen, but rather, she is a bad@$$ who doesn't take crap from anyone. She is very much a go-getter and believes in violence. Honestly, she is almost more of a dictator than a Queen -- she rules primarily by using fear as a tactic.
I'm thinking she would sound a little rough around the edges, and maybe have a deeper voice for a female. Any accent is fine as long as it's clear what she is saying!
(Please keep in mind that these are just sample lines, not lines from the actual film, as the script is still in the writing process and subject to change. These are just examples of things the character WOULD say and do not reflect the actual writing style.)
{giving orders as she leaves the room} Guards -- take care of him. I do not wish to see his face any longer. Take him to the prison cells and hold him there 'till sunrise. Then? The execution.
{passive-aggressively} I gave you permission to speak, did I not? Chin up, and do not mumble when you are speaking to your Queen.
{giving a grand speech to her kingdom} Don't you see? He's done this to deceive you. He has befriended each and every one of you, only to bend you to his will when the time was right. He never cared about any of you. He never sought to better this kingdom. He came to earn your trust, and to use that trust against you, so that he might take this land and all of its people for himself.
He is the King of the world that Zane ends up in. He is second ruler to his more aggressive wife. He does not make many of the decisions. He is often not in the castle, but elsewhere.
He sounds like typical corrupt royalty, probably with a British / English accent of some sort. (I actually imagine he sounds like an evil version of Jasper from Fable III.)
(Please keep in mind that these are just sample lines, not lines from the actual film, as the script is still in the writing process and subject to change. These are just examples of things the character WOULD say and do not reflect the actual writing style.)
How about you take care of this, My Sweet. You know I don't like to meddle in your affairs -- and I know just how much you love making decisions regarding violence. I will be off now. Do with him what you wish.
{giving orders} Go after him. Now! We must not let him escape with what he knows!
{laughing} Well, well, well... you really thought you could beat me? My... this is quite unexpected. You certainly came closer than all the other men who tried before you.... {gestures to the grave of Zane's dead best friend}
These are all the King's / Queen's Guards. These are minor extra roles. They are all male, but can be many ages and have as many possible accents as you like. We'll need a few of these guys!
(Please keep in mind that these are just sample lines, not lines from the actual film, as the script is still in the writing process and subject to change. These are just examples of things the character WOULD say and do not reflect the actual writing style.)
(different variations of saluting their King or Queen)
Yes, sir.
Right away, Your Majesty.As you wish, Your Highness.
There's more where that came from!
{sinister laugh} Is that all you've got?
Your aim might just be the worst I've seen in my life!
{giggle} That tickled a bit!
Ouch, that really hurt!
(if fitting to your accent) That bloody hurt!
{getting shot}{dying}
This particular character loves racing and spends most of her days at the racetrack. She is very competitive in nature and very prideful in her abilities -- doubts that anyone could ever match or surpass her skill level.
I imagine her to have a very rugged sounding voice, with or without an accent.
(Please keep in mind that these are just sample lines, not lines from the actual film, as the script is still in the writing process and subject to change. These are just examples of things the character WOULD say and do not reflect the actual writing style.)
You want my respect? First you've got to beat me in a race. One lap, all the way around the track -- be the first one to cross the finish line, and I'll give you your prize.
Ready? Set? GO!
See you at the finish line!
Come on, slow poke!
Step on it!
You really think you're going to beat ME going at a pace like THAT?
Darn. You've actually gone and beat me. Congratulations, I guess. Here -- take your prize.
It's been years and no one has ever managed to beat me -- not even once. Great job... I guess.
Are you sure you didn't cheat?
She loves to play soccer but has lost her ball. Not a major character, but she appears more than once.
Her voice is up to any interpretation you like -- but obviously should be an adult female.
(Please keep in mind that these are just sample lines, not lines from the actual film, as the script is still in the writing process and subject to change. These are just examples of things the character WOULD say and do not reflect the actual writing style.)
My son and I were playing in the garden, and seem to have lost our soccer ball. Do you think you could find it for us?
He said he kicked it over in that direction, but I searched everywhere and wasn't able to find it.
My ball! I thought you'd never find it.
She loves spraypainting, and straying from society.
I imagine her to have a North American accent, and probably a stereotypical sarcastic-sounding tomboyish voice / way of speaking... and maybe a teen?
(Please keep in mind that these are just sample lines, not lines from the actual film, as the script is still in the writing process and subject to change. These are just examples of things the character WOULD say and do not reflect the actual writing style.)
Hey, you! Yeah, you. Come here!
I need your help. I'll make it worth your while... I have something that I think could be useful to you. You're looking for a battery... right?Great! Here's what I need you to do.....
The walls around here are so boring and crummy looking. I'd love to make things more exciting, and add more splashes of colour! If you can impress me with your artistic ability, I'll give you what you want.Impressive. You, my friend, have some serious creative vision.
I adventured, once. Just like you. But now I'm here... in a factory full of toilets, of all things. Guess that means my life's truly gone down the toilet. {melancholy chuckle} What better place to call home, am I right?
He is an inventor with a dream to fly.
Probably an adult with an almost "regal" voice? But I'm leaving it fairly open to interpretation.
I would appreciate something similar to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Glafxey4K0Y
(Please keep in mind that these are just sample lines, not lines from the actual film, as the script is still in the writing process and subject to change. These are just examples of things the character WOULD say and do not reflect the actual writing style.)
Hello, Adventurer! I am looking for someone brave to test my brand new invention. Do you have what it takes to rise above the rest?!
If you survive this, there's a reward in it for you.Hold on tight! And whatever you do; don't look down.
You're looking down!
A-ha! I just knew it would work. I am truly a legend! As promised, here is your reward. You've earned it.
He is an astronaut that wishes to be back in space, but must first repair his rocket.
He is an adult but his voice is otherwise open to interpretation!
(Please keep in mind that these are just sample lines, not lines from the actual film, as the script is still in the writing process and subject to change. These are just examples of things the character WOULD say and do not reflect the actual writing style.)
Hmm... I'm almost done here, but I seem to be missing a few important parts. Hey... do you think you could find them for me?
Great! Here's a list of what I need to finish: a battery, 250 metal scraps, and would you mind grabbing me a glass of water while you're at it?
Thank you, Adventurer! It would have taken me ages to get my hands on these, myself. I have everything I need to finish my creation! AND to stay hydrated. {sips water} Ahhh. That's refreshing.
Well, it's about time I take off! This gravity is beginning to drive me crazy!
{flying away} Up, up, and awayyyy!!!
She is a chatty fast-talking tomboy teen that loves basketball.
I'm imagining her voice to be a little gravelly and deep, but still young (teen?) sounding.
(Please keep in mind that these are just sample lines, not lines from the actual film, as the script is still in the writing process and subject to change. These are just examples of things the character WOULD say and do not reflect the actual writing style.)
Hey! Got time for a quick match?
First to 10 wins!
I really need to practice for the big game this weekend.
Please, just one game! If you can beat me, I'll even reward you.
Wow. I can't believe it! You actually beat me! Here's your reward.
{sigh} It looks like I'll be needing a lot more practice before the game this weekend....
She is a viking! There honestly isn't much else about her character.
She likely has a Scottish accent, but Irish or Welsh may be okay too -- just something to differentiate her from all the other characters, I guess is what I'm looking for. It's Fortnite after all, and all of this takes place in a much different world than ours, so it doesn't exactly need to be historically accurate. So play around with it, have some fun!
(Please keep in mind that these are just sample lines, not lines from the actual film, as the script is still in the writing process and subject to change. These are just examples of things the character WOULD say and do not reflect the actual writing style.)
Greetings, Traveler! I've been waiting for one like you to come. I could use your aid.
I need you to gather 200 stacks of wooden planks for me, so I may rebuild my village.
Would you bloody hurry up?! I haven't got all day.
Alright! This should be enough.
Here is a reward for your hard work.
Our village will be forever in your debt.
She very annoying and not very intelligent. She is supposed to be a play on "escort quests" in video games, which, if you play games, you know can be the most irritating quests in the world.
I definitely want her voice to reflect her annoying personality and stupidity.
(Please keep in mind that these are just sample lines, not lines from the actual film, as the script is still in the writing process and subject to change. These are just examples of things the character WOULD say and do not reflect the actual writing style.)
Oh, hello! I am so glad I found you. Are you here to rescue me?
Great! You lead the way. I'll follow you.
Wait for me! I can't run as fast as you.
{getting distracted} Ooh, what's that, over there?
They're coming for me! Help!!!
Thank you for rescuing me! I'll never forget this! You're my hero!
He's smart, a hunter and a survivor, and he's very level-headed, and knows how to work a weapon.
I would love for him to be Australian. Why? No idea, but when filming this that's how we pictured him, so it would be fun to see what we can do with that! He's likely middle-aged.
(Please keep in mind that these are just sample lines, not lines from the actual film, as the script is still in the writing process and subject to change. These are just examples of things the character WOULD say and do not reflect the actual writing style.)
Hello there! Care to learn the proper use of a firearm?
The test begins now.
Come on, shoot it down!
Learn to bloody aim, will ya?
Well done! I can see now that you certainly know how to shoot a weapon. You've got a good eye on you... and one extra than I've got! {laughs}
Here, take the weapon with you. I imagine you'll need it. It's dangerous 'round here. Take care of yourself out there.
He sells weapons all around the world straight from his shopping cart. It later turns out that everything he's selling, was stolen.
I imagine him to have a rough but higher pitched voice. For example, Spiderman's Green Goblin? He's supposed to be rather creepy and annoying.
(Please keep in mind that these are just sample lines, not lines from the actual film, as the script is still in the writing process and subject to change. These are just examples of things the character WOULD say and do not reflect the actual writing style.)
Hello there, traveller! Would you like to browse my wares? I have quite the selection of weapons available.... Yes, yes... let me know if you see anything you like....
Stolen? {scoffs} I hand-crafted each and every one of these weapons, myself! From my very own blood, sweat, and tears! And who are YOU to tell me otherwise?! Hm?!
Fine! Take it! The Queen will hear of this, and you certainly won't get away with this, no... you certainly won't.
They are just common villagers / citizens. Please use any sort of voice that you like!
(Please keep in mind that these are just sample lines, not lines from the actual film, as the script is still in the writing process and subject to change. These are just examples of things the character WOULD say and do not reflect the actual writing style.)
Oh, hello!
Greetings!
I haven't seen you around here before. What's your name, then?
Are you the one everyone's been talking about?
Hello, Traveler!
Is it as dangerous as they say out there?
Do you think he's been lying to us?
I'm surprised to see you're still alive.
Wow. You actually made it here in one piece.
Yes, Your Majesty.
Yes, Your Highness.
We love our Queen!
All Hail the Queen!
Praise be to the King!
