Flourish - Animatic Series

Flourish - Animatic Series

Project Overview

Flourish, written and directed by me, is a work-in-progress story where we see our beloved characters moving to Montreal, Canada from all over the world, each for their own reasons, yet their lives begin to intertwine. It follows the two main characters, Fleur and Blair, as well as other secondary characters. (Just to let you know, while Fleur and Blair initially dislike each other to some degree, they eventually do become a couple). The series has a lot of plants, flowers and nature thematically.

The goal of this casting isn't to create the entire story with art, but rather small scenes to engage the audience into the eventually written book/story. The format will be similar to a comic dub, minus the speech bubbles. I am planning to write and direct them, and just need voice actors and artists to help me accomplish the finished product. I hope to work with you all soon!

Communication will either be here on the CCC site, or Discord. If you are upset there isn't a character you fit, don't worry; there will be many more roles to come.

  • Casting

Most of the roles have been casted, I will do some more searching for our Rory! Thanks so much to everybody who auditioned for this!!! You were all great, I'm sorry I couldn't cast more of you. :)

  • Plans for Flourish

I am going to attempt to keep this project alive, in the form of audio. I'm thinking I could write the scenarios, and then just have one background image because we haven't yet found an artist for the project. I will likely be casting some roles soon, though we need a VA for Rory.

  • Future of the project

Hey, thank you to everyone who has so far auditioned. I love hearing your takes on my beloved characters! As long as we fill out the needed roles, this project will be underway after the deadline. However, at the moment, we don't have an artist for the series, or a voice actor for Rory. The artist is the most important part of the project, and unless we find one, this project won't be possible, as my skills only lie in writing and directing. Hopefully somebody comes along, but I wanted to make people aware that it may not happen.

The plan for the artists is to, rather than animate scenes, have still frames, animatic style. All I ask is that you be willing to draw anthro characters and be aware that this role has the potential to become long-term. Have fun and thank you for your time! :)

If you come in with just a Google Drive and/or Discord, I will assume you are a bot and ignore you.

He/Him

Age 20

French-American

5'10" Anthro Feline.

Attends an horticultural university in Montreal. Dreams of being a florist.
Art by Actualegremlin.

Fleur is French-American but was raised fully in Marseille, France. He is fluent in both French and English, though, and speaks English clearly with only a soft French accent. He grew up with his two childhood friends, Lumi and Sorrel, but during the summer before college Sorrel drowned in a tragic accident, which brought trauma and long-lasting grief to Fleur. Before meeting Blair (and even at times of great dismay), he could tend to be bitter and lash out verbally. He has great regrets because of this, as he doesn't mean to be hurtful but doesn't know how to handle his grief.

As for his voice, i would like a medium to medium-low voice, he speaks English with only a very slight French twang, but when he is emotional, it gets a bit more French. One of his key traits is that he's habitually focused on mannerism, from the way he dresses to the way he speaks, so he almost always speaks very precisely and well-enunciated.

Age 19

Scottish (Specifically from Edinburgh)

5'5" (not counting antlers)

Anthro Fallow Deer, lavender and white fur.

Attends an horticultural university in Montreal, roommates with Rory Kengne.

Dreams of opening a cafe, he's an herbalist who brews tea

Tends to remain calm and reserved, enjoys quiet company

Wears a pale mocha brown sweater with washed jeans that are too wide, doesn't wear shoes instead having hooves.

Art by Starjoose.

He grew up in a not great household where right upon becoming eighteen years old, he was tossed out of his house. He was never cared for despite his sometimes serious SH issues, and this led to them growing even worse after being kicked out. That fall, after crashing with a friend for a while, he enrolled in the horticultural university where he could pursue herbology and tea-making. This is also where he met Fleur, and even if they didn't get along at first they grew to be closer than anything. He also gets hit by a car at some point.

As for his voice, he has a medium pitch, though he speaks rather softly and rarely raises his voice. He has a Scottish accent, of course, but not incredibly thick/unintelligible.

She/Her

Age 19

5'2"

Finnish

Anthro otter

Art by fisher.

She was a foreign exchange student in high school where she was friends with Fleur and Sorrel, so though she wasn't childhood friends with them, they were certainly close. Very outgoing and energetic personality, finds a way to make everything fun. Also endlessly curious and investigative of things (usually social things where people don't want her investigating.) She majors in veterinarian practices.

As for her voice, she is quite bubbly and energetic. Her english is good enough that a Finnish accent isn't required for the role, it's really quite fine either way. Her voice can have some rasp to it, though not exactly necessary.

  • [Almost teasing] Come onnnnn, Fleur. Live a little, quit just sitting in your room!

  • [Playful] You're glaring again. Careful, your face might get stuck like that.

  • [More serious and open, to Blair] Sometimes he needs some space, but other times he really needs someone there for him. Tricky balance, huh?

He/Him

Age 20

Born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland, but his parents are immigrants from Cameroon and his family is Cameroonian

6'1"

Anthro African gray parrot

Attends an horticultural university in Montreal (he doesn't study horticulture; majors in communications and cultural studies) roommates with Blair Moncreiffe. He is a very kind and friendly presence, often the first to mediate conflict. He is also protective of Blair in a brotherly way, trying to keep him motivated and healthy. He sometimes takes Blair for nature runs. He's a big fan of the vintage sort of aesthetic, he collects vinyl.

He was the one who took Blair in over the summer when Blair was kicked from his home. Despite being in a group of four (including Blair) that chipped in to help Blair be able to attend the university, he was the only one who accompanied Blair. Initially they could only afford one scholarship for Blair but Blair was scared to go alone, and Rory was the closest to him. Rory's parents paid for Rory to go to after finding out he could major in cultural studies, and it would make sense since Rory can speak rough conversational French due to his Cameroonian parents.

As for his voice, to keep the character true to his identity and culture, I would much prefer his voice actor to be African-American, I wouldn't want to change his race or voice, sorry! He also has a Scottish accent :). He is medium to low pitched, with a very warm and welcoming voice.

Anthro Great Horned Owl, portrayed as a periwinkle spirit

Childhood friend of Fleur, was also close with Lumi

Art by oootoocool1

Sorrel was Fleur's closest friend growing up, and was initially planning to move to Montreal to college alongside Fleur. However, when Fleur and Sorrel were spending time together at the docks of Marseille, Sorrel fell into the water. A boat was just passing, and the motion of the water caused by the boat's wake pulled Sorrel under. Despite Fleur's frenzied attempts to save him, Sorrel drowned that day. his death haunts Fleur for years to come, the grief knowing that he could have saved him unbearable.

As for voice, nothing really particular is necessary as long as it's masculine. I suppose a French accent would make the most sense but it's definitely not necessary. Just have fun. Sorrel was fairly softspoken or anxious in voice, for examples maybe listen to Tem from Beastars? The role may require screaming, because of the death scene.

Anthro mouse

Majors in fashion design, dreams of one day being a tailor or fashion designer

Roommate of Emery Whitlow
No art yet, sorry!

Wears his older brother's black leather jacket with a pink patch on it, as well as a scarf and acid washed jeans. He wears eyeshadow some as well. Despite his grungy appearance, he's actually really sweet and affectionate. He has social anxiety, but once he opens up to someone he's the type to just talk to you about some niche topic for hours. He grew up in rural Quebec, and knows a huge amount of survival and outdoorsy techniques from farm-life. He is one of Fleur's first friends at college.

For his voice, he has a medium-high pitched male voice, maybe a little squeaky? A canadian accent is not required for the role, though it is welcome. He is somewhat of a femboy in personality i suppose.

no art yet, sorry!

Emery has snowy white fur. He is also fully blind, Milo often walks alongside him. He wears sweaters and other warm clothes, as well as bandana scarf things (not sure the actual term for these).

Emery isn't the type of person to be super open about himself, usually staying quiet and observant, but he is from Canada as well, and he seems to be pretty invested in both literature like poetry, as well as he often is enamored by ethical dilemmas that get him thinking heavily. He spends a lot of time with Milo, their personalities compliment each other well, with him being a good listener and Milo being quite talkative at times.

For his voice, any pitch is fine, as well as any accent but preferably American or Canadian. He talks as though he is zoned out nearly constantly, very quiet and mysterious.

She/Her
Age 18

Canadian born, Japanese ethnicity
5'3"
Anthro bobcat/lynx
Majors in performing arts, but doesn't seem to care too much about school.
No art yet, sorry!

Salem has this muted coral colored fur, she often wears blue, black or white hoodies and tends to over accessorize. She is neighbors with Holly, and her role in the story is that she becomes friends with Lumi very quickly, who starts spending more time with Salem than with Fleur. This frustrates Fleur, who feels a sense of abandonment but also guilt at the idea of being upset when he should be happy for Lumi.

For her voice, she has a very energetic, hyper voice. Try to embody ADHD within your audition, she is quite hyperactive. She obviously doesn't need a Japanese accent, she was born and raised in Canada. As much as I dislike the person, a voice similar to that of Jojo Siwa would be fitting for her.

Majors in studio art, she enjoys painting. She often includes objects in her paintings, usually things like leaves, flowers, and pinecones.

Holly has cream colored fur with a more saturated blonde hair that's quite bushy and messy. She is the neighbor of Salem and friend of Lumi and Salem. She enjoys nature and is almost always outside painting. Her hair and tail usually have leaves and twigs stuck in them from her time outdoors.

For her voice, I would like something sweet and kind. Pitch and accent is ambiguous, I just want her to feel really homey and sweet, please!
