EDIT: THANK YOU all so much for the auditions! I received so many in less than 3 days - the talent I was provided with was overwhelming! Thank you all for the auditions. I appreciate the auditions more than any of you could know... seeing/hearing my characters come to life means more than the world to me! :)
The scene I am animating is for a story I've been writing for 15+ years. This animation includes my male lead character Akito Tagashi as he struggles with the legendary power he was born with. *Please note, images included are 3D renditions of Akito Tagashi. This particular animation will be a 2D animation of high quality.*
Without spoiling too much, in the current animation I'm working on, Akito is struggling with self awareness. He has the power of fire and alongside that comes the Fire Dragon, a demon that dwells in his soul. In this particular scene, he's questioning everything that the adults in the world have told him - to suppress and fear the demon - and he is debating whether or not to call on the dragon.
Long story short, he has some internal doubt, attempts to call the dragon and succeeds, but then his fear overwhelms him and he unleashes an explosion in his dorm room. Scene.
The soundcloud link on my profile/bio (as well as linked right here) include the song I produced that will pair with this scene. It's a rough draft, but I wanted to include some progress without spoiling the scene too much on an open casting.
Akito's voice should be deep but not overly mature - he's 18 years old. There should be some edge to it with a tinge of darkness but not raspy. His characteristics are that he is strong willed, determined, yet fearful of his own power. He would do anything to protect those he cares about, even risking his own well being to do so.

(doubtful, skeptical, slightly somber)
If that were really true, then why would I…! (cutting himself off)
(disappointed in himself, regretful and doubtful)
What is this…!? (pause) This is… the Flame of the Fire dragon…!
(shocked and a bit intimidated. Akito is in awe of what he's seeing. This is the first time he's actually seeing his own true power, so he's feeling a lot of mixed emotions all at once.)
