What is this project?
This is a fandub of the Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem OVA. Released in 1996, this 2 episode OVA adapts the first 3 chapters of Book 1 of the Super Famicom game, expanding upon the lives and backstories of select characters. This OVA was actually the first Fire Emblem product to be released in the West, receiving an English dub featuring some famous voice actors from this era, like Spike Spencer and Tiffany Grant. However, the dub is lacking in other areas, featuring odd reads of dialogue and untranslated Japanese names. This fandub seeks to rewrite the script of the OVA to be more accurate to Fire Emblem’s modern translations.
How will the auditions work?
I will have auditions up for main characters like Marth and Caeda, along with side characters like Cain and Abel. There will also be a couple minor characters, like townsfolk, that will need casting. Those will be handled in the discord with smaller auditions. I might also just ask you to voice a certain role. To make things easier while I work on the revised script, the audition lines will be taken from either the original dub or Fire Emblem Heroes. As for which voices to follow, I will be supplying examples of the character’s current English voice actors, but feel free to make the performance your own (or try to improve on the original dub’s voices)!
What’s this project gonna look like?
During casting, I will be working on a revised script of the OVA’s episodes, using modern translation names and generally making dialogue flow a little bit better. Then, once casting is done, the scripts will be uploaded to the community discord server and you will dub for your character accordingly. Once lines are sent in, I’ll request any rerecording you might need, and then I will take the lines and edit everything together.
Requirements?
I’m looking for good audio quality. A professional set up isn’t required, but please have at least a USB microphone and minimize background noise as much as possible. I don’t want to pass over a good voice because of sound issues.
Please record between 2-3 takes of each line, with different intonation on each. This will help give a better idea of your performance.
Please put your Discord in the description of the audition, so that I may add you if you land the role. All communication on the project will be done in a Discord server.
Closing Remarks
While this is a fan project, you don’t need to be super familiar with Fire Emblem to audition. As such, knowledge of lore isn’t super important. Also, I am a singular person who is also currently in college. As such, this project might be a bit slow. I’m so excited to hear your auditions!

Marth is the prince of Altea and the hero of this story. Taking refuge in the island nation of Talys after being driven from his homeland, Marth leads an army to reclaim his country from the Dolhr Empire. Marth is a kindhearted and driven hero who holds his friends close.

“So… Let me see. You want us to rescue this priestess, Sister Lena, from the bandits of the Samsooth Mountains?”
Caeda is the young princess of Talys. She’s a close ally to Prince Marth and wishes to help him in his quest to reclaim his homeland of Altea. Caeda is very protective of the ones she loves, willing to risk her life to save them.

Jagen is a high ranking paladin of Altea who helped Marth escape to safety when fleeing from the country. Protective and loyal, Jagen is always by Marth’s side, giving him advice on how to tackle the challenge ahead.

Julian is a thief who once aligned himself with the Soothsires, bandits of the Samsooth Mountains. However, he’s turned on the group in order to help rescue Sister Lena, allying himself with Marth.

Lena is a cleric and noblewoman of Macedon who fled the country in order to escape from an arranged marriage. However, she was captured by the Soothsire bandits. She has a bond with Julian, a thief who had a change of heart.

Ogma is the leader of the mercenaries in service of Talys. Once a gladiator, he was saved from the brink of death by a young princess Caeda, and has served her ever since. He helps Marth on his journey and stays faithfully by Caeda’s side.

Gordin is a young archer from Altea who fled to Talys alongside Marth. While he can be a bit loud and obnoxious at times, he does his best to help out on the battlefield with a bow.
(If you’ve ever seen a clip of this OVA, it’s probably Gordin's infamous performance in the original dub.)

Cain is a cavalier and knight of Altea. Known for his brashness, he works alongside his fellow cavalier Abel in order to help Prince Marth liberate Altea.

Abel is a cavalier and knight of Altea. Known for his sensibility, he works alongside his fellow cavalier Cain in order to help Prince Marth liberate Altea.

Hyman is the leader of the Soothsires, a bandit gang located in the Samsooth Mountains. He persuades the Scarlet Sword Navarre to fight for him, only to be betrayed.

Elice is the Princess of Altea and Marth’s older sister. In order to save Marth and Jagen from captivity, she uses a Warp staff to transport them to safety.

Cornelius was the 4th King of Altea and was Marth and Elice’s father. Following the betrayal of Gra against the forces of Gharnef, Cornelius loses his life confronting the ruler of Khadein.

Gharnef is a powerful sorcerer known as the Dark Pontifex. Once a student in Khadein, Gharnef’s wrath and jealousy pushed him to rebel, orchestrating the resurrection of the Earth Dragon Medeus. He now acts as the ruler of Khadein.
