Final Fantasy IX FanDub was a massive (completed) undertaking that launched in 2010. It has become one of the most-watched Final Fantasy Fandubs on YouTube, contributing to a YouTube channel with over 1,400 Subscribers and 810,000 Video Views. We have since expanded to create a playable mod called Project Terra, with many of our Voice Actors reprising their roles. Together, we are creating a mod that adds voice-overs and a modernized (but faithful) re-composition of the Final Fantasy IX OST. You will be contributing to one of the most ambitious community projects the Final Fantasy franchise has ever seen, and we aim to deliver an exceptional experience. As we are working with intellectual property, any contribution is voluntary, but our contributors will be credited for their involvement. Important:
This project is a commitment in which over 150 Voice Actors, Composers, and Audio Engineers are voluntarily putting aside significant workloads to produce a truly immersive result. This is not a YouTube Fandub where we can easily swap out a Voice Actor that has to leave the project with commitments still in place. If this happens, the team will be required to recast the Voice Actor and all prior dialog for that character will need to be re-recorded. This also puts additional stress on the Audio Engineers and sets back deadlines for new Voice Actors that need to catch up. You must be active on Discord and you must be responsive to communication when a member of our management team reaches out. We are not asking project members to commit to absurdly demanding schedules and are very accommodating when it comes to extensions. You just need to maintain a long-term awareness of your incoming Discord messages in the event that such revisions are requested.
Applications/Auditions will be assessed based on your level of Voice Acting, the quality of your microphone, and your ability to minimize things like background noise, audio peaking, and quality loss from noise suppression. If you have challenges with sound reflection, some of our Voice Actors have navigated these hurdles by covering a thick blanket over themselves and their microphone. We split each section of Final Fantasy IX into individual sequences and then divide all of the recordings up amongst the team. Audio Engineers will need to clean, balance, and apply certain impulse response effects to each recording. These impulse responses are created digitally through a DAW by one Audio Engineer and then shared with the team. Workload ranges from about 50-100 recordings per sequence.

Composers must submit their portfolios for review before they are accepted into the project. If you don't have a portfolio, you will be asked to create a thirty second composition from the Final Fantasy IX track so that we may assess your capabilities. You will be asked to produce the composition as well as the final mix.

You aren't auditioning for a specific character, but rather the ability to play recurring roles. Your participation may also lead to a permanent placement based on your capabilities. If you are interested in getting involved, simply record these three lines with a noticeable degree of range that demonstrates the best of your abilities/dialects.

"Freya, we shall conduct an ancient ceremony to strengthen the sandstorm. Surely, no enemy of ours would attack with the powerful sandstorm protecting Cleyra. And with the help of a dragon knight like you, the storm should grow even more powerful."

Moogles look after Mognet, passing information back and forth between other characters. They also help the main characters with shops, resting inside a tent, and saving the game.
