Final Fantasy 4: Radio Play PILOT
Project Overview
With the sucessful conclussion of the Final Fantasy 6 FanDub I am now investigating further projects.
This would be a FULL RE-SCRIPT of FF4 into radio play format, available on YouTube and as a Podcast on iTunes. That means I'm gonna be taking full artistic license with the plot, characters, and dialog of every different version of the game. It will still be very much FF4, but it will be a fresh new adaptation!
Before I go ahead and commit to all that writing though, I want to see if the concept holds up.
SO I'VE WRITTEN A PILOT EPISODE!
This will be a test of my editing capabilities, as well as a gauge of public interest in listening to such a thing.
I'm not sure how many FF4 fans are out there.
I'm not sure how many of those fans will listen to a radio play.
So let's find out together! Wheeee!
*A NOTE ON ACCENTS*
I love accents! I want you to try any accent you believe you can do well or you believe fits the character. BUT please be aware that I am a HARSH CRITIC of sub-par accent work. No Dick Van Dyke nonsense.

Last Call!
Hi folks!
We're nearing the deadline! If you still haven't uploaded your audition, you have until this Friday to do so.
If you can't make that deadline, don't worry too much though. There will be another casting call for the Full Project at a later date. None of these roles should be considered lost, and keep in mind that there are MANY characters yet to come.
I'm putting the final polish on that pilot script right now, and just about halfway through the first draft of "Act One" of the full script. It's looking like there will be four "Acts" with 5-6 episodes in each. I'm getting very excited to start sharing this work with all of you. I hope you'll enjoy it.

A brief update on progress!
There have been lots of marvelous auditions so far. Thank you all so much, and keep 'em coming. Even if you've already submitted I am more than happy to hear multiple takes if you have a different voice you'd like to exhibit.
Also, a bit of an update as to the subject of STYLE: I'll eventually be working this project around to fit a certain aesthetic. I haven't entirelly nailed down what I'll be aiming for yet, but I know that part of the charm of this production will be it's old-timey flavor. That doesn't neccesarilly mean I'm looking for VAs to imitate old radio shows, but it also doesn't mean I'm NOT looking for that.
If you listen to things like "The Lone Ranger" or "Suspense!" you will hear a lot of choices the VAs make based around the constraints of the equipment they were using. Very precise diction, clear annunciation. They push the bass values of their voices to make up the loss from old speakers, while also hiting a nasal quality which aids their ability to be heard over noise. These vocal qualities are not dealbreakers by any means, but can help to sell the illusion of the STYLE. Also, it is fun to make old-timey voices.
Why am I sharing all of this? Well, that's what doing a pilot is all about! Trying something out to see if it works. I may share a few more concept-type updates here in the future, but above all else, keep those auditions coming in. Share the project with your friends. Rosa loves Cecil. That is literally the chief defining characteristic she has in-game. So I'm looking for someone who can help me to give her a bit more depth.
Rosa is a white mage and also a highly skilled archer. Help me build a real woman out of this walking stereotype.
EDIT: I've been digging a little deeper into Rosa's intentions. I think that perhaps she loves Cecil because he is someone she respects. She sees both his devotion and his doubts as admirable. She is loyal, not to Baron, but to her own sense of rightness. She has little patience for those who do not try their best to get what they want.

Cecil is a Dark Knight. Meaning he follows a strict code of Lawful Evil. There are terrible things which must be done for a greater cause, and he has chosen to do them.
This creates a conflict in his heart when he is no longer certain that his actions are serving that greater cause. He chose to give up a normal life, and be seen as a monster by the very people he serves. He sees himself as a monster. Irredeemable. Beyond hope. Unworthy of compassion.
Now listen, all of you! Our raid of Mysidia was absolutely imperative! His majesty and the council agreed that the Mysidian's unrestricted research into the Crystals posed a very serious threat to the safety of our kingdom. For Baron, and all the world's sake, we need possesion of the Crystals. And as soldiers of the Royal Air Force, we are sworn to use whatever means to fufill our duty!
What has happened to the king? He seemed to... covet that Crystal. I would never doubt the intentions of the man who raised Kain and I like his own children, but... No. He has always been the most chivalrous knight, I've admired his wisdom since childhood. Trust him, Cecil...
Rosa... I-I killed innocent Mysidians. I stole their nation's Crystal with blood on my hands. It was horrible. My heart was screaming "This is wrong!" but I did it. I did it anyway. I suppose this is my fate as a Dark Knight. But I'm afraid that soon, I won't even feel this remorse. Soon, I will enjoy it.

I'm kinda hoping for an Old Timey radio narrator voice. Or maybe someone who can imitate Ira Glass? Either way, it should be clear from their voice that this is a RADIO program. They may end up announcing fake fantasy sponsors as well.
The advent of the airship had marked the realization of humanity's most ancient dream. But humans are creatures seldom sated, and are quick to dream anew.
With the unparalleled might of the Red Wings, Baron's military reigns supreme. Why, then, does its king now seek the Crystals?
And why have fearsome monsters suddenly begun to overrun the once-calm land?
If the Crystals know, they share no answers - only their pure and silent light...

Yes, that's right. Male OR FEMALE. I'd actually prefer female, because I'm trying to balance out the stereotypical gender ratio of the original.
Kain is Cecil's childhood friend. They have a strong bond built by the many years of training together. Kain greatly admires Cecil but is a little more laid-back than him. Kain is a little salty about the attention Rosa throws on Cecil, but is confident that their friendship is stronger than Rosa's love.
Majesty, I petition on Cecil's behalf. Please reconsider! He has done no wrong, he questions out of care for his subordinates.
Aw, I would have come with you anyway. And the King is bound to forgive us once we've completed the mission. We are his favorite soldiers.
