Fallout The Frontier Rework Round 1

Project Overview

What is Fallout The Frontier?

Fallout: The Frontier is a released, gigantic DLC/New Game. As the “Courier” you start a new adventure centered around a conflict between the NCR and the Legion in the snow-blasted remains of Portland Oregon. Featuring 3 major questlines, 60+ side quests, hundreds of new armors, weapons and items, and tens of thousands of lines of new voiced dialogue!

Following feedback, we are in the process of reworking the NCR Main Quest as well as making some adjustments to other content to ensure they match the rework and are in the best shape possible for the steam release down the line. With fundamental changes to the NCR main quest, new voice acting will be needed. Some of which will be regarding completely new characters, while others will involve characters who appeared in Legacy whose VAs we are no longer in contact with.

Requirements for Auditioning Voice Actors:

We are currently looking for 18 years of age or older voice actresses and actors with at least an XLR mic, a fair amount of voice acting or real-life acting experience (ideally a demo reel), proper noise insulation, the ability to name files correctly based on information from either a Spreadsheet or a Google Doc, and the ability to do basic audio processing.

Instructions for Auditioning Voice Actors:

We request that all VAs who are interested are also able to communicate and send/receive files through Discord servers and DMs. On Discord, you will be communicating with me (@ACTIONFIGHTER11#2791) via DMs or the Frontier VA Server's public chat. If you are cast, you will receive your lines within a week through discord along with recording instructions, deadline, accent specifications, character bios, and line directions.

If you do request to communicate with us through Email or another communication software, please send a private message to my profile on Casting Call Club and explain your situation. I will work with you via CCC Private Messaging to find a solution.

For all characters, we expect lines to be sent back following the correct organization and formatting specified during DM conversation within the deadline agreed upon. If recording your lines requires more time, please notify me as soon as possible via Discord DMs and we can work out a solution.

If you do not notify me of the possibility that the deadline is workable, I will be proceeding with the standard procedure by expecting line submissions before the deadline. If lines are not received in time and no message regarding that has been received, I will ask you for an update a few times before looking into recasting if a considerable time has passed with no response. If you are cast and have any complications, please notify me via Discord DMs as soon as possible. Additionally, some finer details of the rework writing is still in flux, which means certain characters from those parts of development may receive more lines to record after the initial script sending. We will do our best to have the majority of characters be completely set upon being posted here. These characters will have a tag of (IN FLUX) next to their name. If you are auditioning for an In Flux Character, please be ready to receive lines in batches separated by varied periods of time once you are cast as the VA for him/her. We will do our best to keep the batches close to each other.

Lead characters will have a major role to play in the main quests. (If you are cast or auditioning for a major character, make sure you have enough time set aside for recording.) Supporting characters could be associated with main quests or play a key role in side quests. Minor characters will be NPCs without unique names. Extra characters will be essentially cameo appearances.

Non-human characters that require significant audio effects or modulation will have a special tag in their name. Pre - Existing Fallout Franchise Characters that require voice actors who can impersonate the original voice files from the Fallout games they appear in will have a (Needs Impersonator) tag next to their name. Non-human characters include ghouls, robots, and super mutants. Any filters involved like gas masks or power armor helmets will not need to be done by voice actors or be added to the audition files. We mention them just as a reference for your own convenience. Unless we specify a specific accent, all characters, no matter what species, are to have the regular North American accent.

You should record all 3 audition lines included for each character. For each audition line, submit only one take. Be sure to follow the scene context and line instructions provided for the audition line. You should be recording through an audio recording software like Audacity or Adobe Audition. You should export and submit your audition as a .mp3 file (anywhere from 192 - 320 kbps). You do not need to limit yourself in the number of characters you audition for. In some cases, we go ahead and cast a voice actor for two roles if they provide effective and different sounding performances for both.

Once the deadline date is reached for a certain batch of characters, we will no longer accept more auditions for the specified roles within that batch. Over the next week or so, we will go over the submitted auditions and cast our characters.

CCC will automatically send you a message if you get cast. Additionally, we will send a private message to your CCC profile containing information on how to join a discord server where voice acting for the Frontier is managed. If there are any complications preventing that, please respond to our private message as soon as possible and we will work out solutions with you.

Final Message for Auditioning Voice Actors:

For those that audition and don’t make the cut, don’t lose heart as there are more characters to be up for grabs on future rounds of casting. If you'd like to follow future casting rounds for this project, please PM me on CCC; future rounds will be hosted on different casting call pages.

Best of luck! I look forward to hearing your great auditions!

You're a small-time slaver from the Frontier, but despite the size of your group, you're extremely cunning and good at telling lies, you don't give any tells or any indication you're hiding the truth. While acting as a Far Go trader, you sound a lot like a used car salesman - very personable, amicable, though you don't get personal. Despite acting like a merchant, it's clear you're a bit weathered by growing up in the harsh wasteland. After your true nature is revealed, you're a lot more sarcastic, cracking more jokes, but still giving off a friendly demeanor. You see slavery as just another job, nothing to be ashamed of. All in all, a weathered kind of guy (mid-30s) putting on a facade of being well-mannered.

Record all audition lines while referring to the notes below for each line and do one take of each line.

For the first audition line, the courier has asked you an innocent question. You are open to dispelling any worries and doubts the courier might have regarding you and your group.

For the second audition line, you and your group have drugged the courier, hoping to sell him off as a slave in the Frontier. You have the decency to give the courier some form of good conversation as the life ahead of him will be quite devoid of that.

For the third audition line, you are unlikely to make it out alive during this fight. Should be yelled out.

  • Not at all! It’s better you’re well prepared for the trip.

  • See, I wasn't being completely honest with you back in Nevada. The Frontier is a land of opportunity, but only for those who are capable or worthy.

  • Shit! Exiles! Shoot them down, now!

You're a genuine cowgirl, in your late 20s and one of the best duelists on the West Coast. You've seen everything, you've done everything, but for the first time, you're going to a new frontier with no easy way back. You're downright giddy when people share your interests, and welcome a challenge if people say they can do better, so long as they ain't rude about it. If someone proves that they're better, you aren't angry about it, rather you congratulate them for being the genuine article. In the Frontier, you're going to make your legacy, have your name written in the annals of history. While you do have a more so rough voice, you don't have a very noticeable southern accent.

Record all audition lines while referring to the notes below for each line and do one take of each line.

For the first audition line, the courier says he/she has no name. Since the courier is being cheeky, you'll be cheeky right back.

For the second audition line, the courier shows off gunslinging skills even better than yours. You aren't one to be easily impressed. This person is worth talking to some more.

For the third audition line, the courier boasts that he/she'll make a mark on the Frontier before you do. You welcome a friendly competition.

  • *Slight Chuckle* Do you have no name, or did you plumb forgot it?

  • Seems I've finally met my match. You're gonna have to teach me your technique one day.

  • We'll see if you've got any bite behind that bark. Frontier ain't gonna know what hit it!

Toby (early 30s) is a scavenger from the Santa Cruz area and comes from a long line of scavengers.  Because of dwindling spots to scavenge, Toby thought it would be a good idea to travel to the Mojave to find some untapped areas. However, the Cruz is not incorporated into the NCR and missed the memo that a war is happening in the Mojave, and that the NCR has staked claims on most of the scientific complexes in the area.

Toby tends to go with the flow, but that doesn't mean he isn't mad about the wasted time and money he spent getting here. By the time the Courier finds Toby he's already believing that the Frontier is a treasure trove, and that's how he's going to recoup his losses from coming to the Mojave. His voice should have a light surfer dude accent and generally sound like what's heard in this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJ__1lmPJWY..

Record all audition lines while referring to the notes below for each line and do one take of each line.

For the first audition line, the courier states that he/she feels the Frontier is a complete mess. However, you don't feel this is a downside. You are actually excited about the adventures and riches to come.

For the second audition line, the courier just expressed how he feels a trip to the Frontier is suicide and those who do so are asking to be killed along the way. You aren't one to accept insults and can smugly fire back.

For the third audition line, the courier mocks your surfer dude accent. They should be careful about messing with you.

  • Totally right, brah. Place is gnarly if you're not careful, but it's still a gold mine from what I hear. Don't blame you for doing a one-eighty, though.

  • Hey dude, that's not chill. If you really feel that way, why don't you waddle back to Vegas or whatever hole you paddled out of?

  • Don't fuckin' mock me, chowder head. Listen to my words and fuck off.

While his parents were wealthy and powerful NCR law enforcement officials who were known for their lack of mercy towards criminals, they made sure to see to every need of Bigsby and would let no suffering or hardship befall their only son. As a result, he never developed the ability to read social cues and made plenty of bitter enemies; people who he annoyed and/or offended with his disregard for personal boundaries or the appropriate circumstances for conversation, but could not express these feelings for fear of his parent’s legal reprisal. He always managed to live in comfort and luxury while going through a variety of professions based on whatever suited his fancy at the time.

Eventually, he decided to start his own business in the form of a newspaper. His method is to approach anyone he thinks looks “interesting”, even if they were in their own homes, and ask them very awkward, personal questions. The people he “interviews” cannot retaliate, leave, or even ignore him: lest their "rudeness" is reported to his parents who would do their best to make the offender’s life miserable.

After several years of publishing into the void, he decided to go to Nevada and interview the NCR troops on the front lines; get a feeling for the “True experience for the heroes fighting for our freedom”. They do not take so kindly to Bigby's antics. As usual, his lack of success has prompted him to change scenery: this time to the front lines north of NCR, in the Frontier.

In a nutshell, he is naive, socially oblivious, and innocently self-aggrandizing. He is in his late 20s.

Record all audition lines while referring to the notes below for each line and do one take of each line.

For the first audition line, you are proudly introducing yourself. The courier might have heard of you.

For the second audition line, the courier states that he/she's considering doing some raiding. Perhaps you should put some distance between yourself and him/her. You aren't one to do well in actual physical confrontations.

For the third audition line, you're ranting about the rude attitude you've encountered from NCR soldiers you've tried interviewing in the Mojave. You are more so insulted and disgusted rather than saddened or furious.

  • Oh, sorry! Where are my manners? I'm Bigsby Shackleton, reporter and investigator extraordinaire!

  • Oh. Well, uh... you planning on going through with that?

  • What have they got to be so grumpy about? They're spreading freedom! Democracy! Turning this savage land into the Sixth State of the Union! They should be proud! Instead, they're all like {Imitating a hypothetical NCR grunt} "Stop bothering me while I'm on watch" and {Imitating a hypothetical NCR grunt} "Don't interrupt the medic during surgery"! You'd think they'd be honored to talk about their service and sacrifice. But no, they'd rather be inconsiderate meanies.
