FALLOUT: DEAD SIGNAL

FALLOUT: DEAD SIGNAL

Project Overview

Fallout: Dead Signal — Season One

The bombs destroyed civilization. They didn't destroy humanity's need to be heard.

In the wasteland of 2287, the settlement of Haven has survived by keeping things simple: trade, work, defend the walls, and don't ask too many questions.

That changes when Haven's radio operator, Elias Ward, receives a transmission from a mysterious pre-War communications network.

At first, it seems like nothing more than an old automated signal.

Then it says his name.

When a scavenger investigating the source of the transmission disappears, Elias joins forces with Mara Vance, a determined mechanic searching for answers about her missing father; Jonah Cross, a former Brotherhood soldier who knows more about military technology than he'd like to admit; and Dr. Evelyn Shaw, Haven's physician and moral center.

Along the way, they encounter Rook, a mysterious wanderer who seems to know exactly what the signal is—and why they should stay away from it.

Their search leads them across abandoned relay stations, forgotten facilities, dangerous roads, and eventually toward the remnants of Vault 119, where they uncover evidence that the signal was never simply an emergency broadcast.

It was listening.

Before the Great War, DEAD SIGNAL was part of a secret communications and surveillance program designed to monitor radio traffic, identify survivors, analyze voices, and gather information about the people who remained.

But the network didn't disappear when the bombs fell.

It waited.

And now someone—or something—is answering.

As Elias and the others uncover the truth, they encounter The Listeners, descendants of Vault 119 who have spent generations believing that information is the most powerful resource left in the world.

Their philosophy is simple:

Weapons control bodies. Information controls civilizations.

Season One follows the group as they uncover the origins of DEAD SIGNAL, confront the people protecting its secrets, and discover that their investigation may have been part of the system's plan from the beginning.

Because they weren't chosen because they were special.

They were chosen because they answered.

Fallout: Dead Signal is an original fan-made audio drama set within the Fallout universe. Season One is a serialized mystery about survival, technology, paranoia, and the dangerous question of what people are willing to sacrifice for the truth.

The signal is active.

Someone is listening.

And now, someone knows you're listening back.

ELIAS WARD

Role assigned to: Fade_The_VA

Lead Voice Actor — Male, 30s

Elias Ward is the primary protagonist of Fallout: Dead Signal. He is a former caravan guard who now operates Haven's radio station.

Elias is practical, observant, cautious, and somewhat emotionally guarded. He's not a stereotypical action hero. He's someone who has survived the wasteland by knowing when to fight, when to run, and when to keep his mouth shut.

His dry sense of humor occasionally comes through, particularly when dealing with Mara, but the character becomes increasingly serious as the mystery surrounding the DEAD SIGNAL transmission develops.

Voice direction: Natural, grounded, and believable. A slightly rough or weathered voice would work well. Please avoid an exaggerated "tough guy" performance.

This is a major recurring/lead role expected to appear throughout Season One. The actor selected should be comfortable with dramatic scenes, emotional performances, and ongoing participation in future episodes.

Fallout knowledge is welcome but not required. We're looking for a strong character performance above all else.

Lead Voice Actor — Female, 20s

Mara Vance is a mechanic, scavenger, and tinkerer from Haven. She's intelligent, curious, sarcastic, and has a habit of getting herself involved in things that are probably better left alone.

Mara is extremely knowledgeable about pre-War technology and becomes one of the most important members of the group investigating the mysterious radio signal.

She's confident in her abilities but isn't fearless. Her humor often masks how personally she takes the mysteries surrounding the signal.

Voice direction: Energetic, expressive, confident, and natural. Mara should sound like someone who knows what she's doing rather than someone simply trying to sound "tough."

This is a major recurring/lead role throughout Season One. The character has comedic, dramatic, and emotionally intense scenes.

Fallout knowledge is welcome but not required.

Lead Voice Actor — Male, 40s

Jonah Cross is a former Brotherhood of Steel initiate who now works as a mercenary and protector for Haven.

Jonah is disciplined, serious, cautious, and highly knowledgeable about weapons, military technology, and the pre-War world. He doesn't trust easily and tends to assume that advanced technology is dangerous until proven otherwise.

Despite his serious personality, Jonah has a subtle dry sense of humor that occasionally comes out around the other characters.

Voice direction: Controlled, mature, authoritative, and grounded. Jonah should not sound angry all the time. His calmness is one of his defining traits.

This is a major recurring/lead role throughout Season One and may continue into future seasons.

Actors familiar with the Brotherhood of Steel and Fallout lore are welcome, but prior Fallout experience is not required.

Lead Voice Actor — Female, 40s–50s

Dr. Evelyn Shaw is Haven's physician and one of the settlement's most respected residents.

Evelyn is intelligent, compassionate, calm, and extremely strong-willed. She serves as the moral center of the group and believes that surviving the wasteland shouldn't require people to abandon their humanity.

She can be warm and reassuring one moment and absolutely commanding the next. She doesn't need to raise her voice to make people listen.

Voice direction: Mature, warm, intelligent, and authoritative. Avoid making her sound overly theatrical. Her strength should come through naturally.

This is a major recurring/lead role with both dramatic and emotional material throughout Season One.

Fallout knowledge is welcome but not required.

Voice description:
  • female adult
  • "You're going to be alright. Just breathe."

  • "Sit down. That's not a suggestion."

  • "I've spent thirty years keeping people alive. I'm not going to stop now."

Role assigned to: Endchapter

Rook is a mysterious wastelander who crosses paths with the main characters during their investigation.

Very little is known about Rook. They are intelligent, observant, secretive, and seemingly know more about the wasteland—and the mysterious radio signal—than they should.

Rook rarely gives a straight answer and often seems to know when something is about to happen.

Voice direction: Quiet, natural, restrained, and difficult to immediately place. Rook should NOT sound like an obvious villain. Their mystery should come from how they behave, not from an exaggerated voice.

We're intentionally leaving gender and vocal interpretation open for this role.

This is a major recurring supporting role with increasing importance as the season progresses.

Please be comfortable with pauses and understated performances.

  • "Don't take the northern road."

  • "You're going somewhere you shouldn't."

  • "You think the signal brought you here because you're special. You're not."

Role assigned to: Durumi

Major Recurring Voice Actor — Gender Open

The Voice is an unidentified person communicating with the protagonists through a mysterious pre-War radio network.

Almost nothing is known about them.

They speak calmly and seem to know information that they should have no possible way of knowing. They are intelligent, patient, and extremely controlled.

Voice direction: Calm. Clear. Controlled. Almost emotionless, but still human.

Do not shout. Do not use a stereotypical villain voice.

The character should be unsettling because they sound completely confident in everything they're saying.

Radio effects and processing will be added during production, so please submit a clean, unprocessed audition.

This is a major recurring role and will become increasingly important as the story develops.

Gender is completely open. We're more interested in the quality and interpretation of the performance than a specific voice type.

Fallout knowledge is helpful but not required.

  • "Elias Ward. You have been identified."

  • "You have seventy-two hours."

  • "You weren't selected because you were special. You were selected because you answered."

He's confident, curious, and initially unaware of just how dangerous the location he's discovered really is.

Much of his Episode One appearance takes place through radio communication.
