EMERGENCY CASTING - Shizuo Heiwajima + Extras for Durarara Fandub
Project Overview
Due to some unfortunate circumstances, our original voice actor for Shizuo had to step down so I really need a new voice actor quickly so we can continue with this project.
Rules:
- Have a decent mic. I’d prefer an XLR mic, but USBs will be accepted as well so long as the mic quality on them is good. Absolutely no computer or phone mics.
- Be able to meet deadlines. This project is meant to be fun for everyone, but I still expect some professionalism in being able to meet deadlines. Everyone gets 2 weeks to submit their lines for each episode.
- Be committed. Since we plan on dubbing over several of the episodes of Durarara, this is going to be a long-term project. If you know that you most likely won’t stay for the full duration of the project, then please don’t audition.
- Please provide 2-3 takes of each line.
Additional information:
- This is an unpaid project. This is a project solely for fun and I’m making no profit from creating this so unfortunately, I’m unable to pay anyone. In return, though, all the voice actors for the project will be credited in the description of each video along with any links you want to include.
- Since this is an emergency casting, I may cast someone before the actual deadline.

In the first few episodes of the show, Shizuo is portrayed as an aggressive, hot-tempered man due to all the fights he manages to get himself into. Yet in reality, he’s generally a quiet guy who hates violence but due to his super-human strength, he manages to attract fights wherever he goes.
I’m looking for someone with a deep voice who’s able to scream. Shizuo has a LOT of screaming lines so you can’t be afraid to scream.
I’m not looking for exact voice impressions, though it would be nice, but please do use the original dub as a reference.
(calmly at first, but getting gradually angrier as you continue) You aimed for my head. You have to know a blow like that could kill a guy, right? And this means that you were intentionally trying to kill me, right? So then, whatever happens next is what you deserve, right?
Oh, I’m not mad. I just want to beat the shit out of you!

Due to the large number of extras there are in the show, the rest of the cast and I need help properly voicing them all. I will mostly likely cast 2-3 people for each male and female extra role so we can have a good variety of voices.
For your audition, please say the lines provided in as many different voices as you’re able to produce. I’m looking for people who have a semi-wide voice range and who can say the lines in various ways. If your voice range isn’t too wide, that’s still perfectly fine! As long as your mic quality is decent and your audition is good, I’ll still be more than willing to cast you!
