Yume is a happy-go-lucky character that is always very energetic, goofy, and excitable. He can be very ditsy but always likes to bring joy to the people around him and always looks for good in people. However, Yume suffers from a very messed up home life, but never likes to talk about it.
(Goofy) "You use to think I was a girl!? How come I am just now finding this out?!"
(Caring) "I don't understand why you have to be so depressed all the time... Can't you see everything around you right now? Life is beautiful! (joyous laughter) Don't you see, you can't get anywhere by pushing the people around you. I believe in so much more from you, Azuna... Won't you join me?"
(Upset) "I'm so sorry... I've been just so afraid of becoming a man like my father..."
Azuna is the love interest of the main character Yume. She comes from money and outwardly thinks very highly of herself. Even though she looks like she has it all, she suffers from loneliness and tries to fill the void with material things and superficial relationships. She finds it very hard to express herself and deep down wants companionship and people that actually care about her. She even begins the series jealous of Yume.
"(laughing) I'm sorry. Did I hear you correctly? You can go on now."
(distressed) "They aren't my friends! ...You wouldn't understand. Everyone's your friend, right? Huh?! ...You could never understand what it feels like to... just... Never mind. See you later."
"Please stay here... Just for tonight... Please...."
Akio plays Yume's best friend since childhood. Since they were kid's Akio has always had Yume's back. He is very protective and loyal to his friends. However, Akio is very Narcissistic and has only let Yume in as his best and only real friend. Usually Akio is a very laid back character and finds joy in targeting people to tease and mess with. At first you see Akio picking on Azuna when she comes into the picture but later targets Chii as he makes fun of her for being short and messing with her hot temper. He is also very much a ladies man as you see him try to "hook up" with various women but he has never gotten in a serious relationship after a bad experience two prior to the series.
[Patronizing] "Look at you! Does your mommy know your here? I'll help you find her so you don't get lost. Oh wow! You're a feisty one, aren't ya!"
"I've always been taking care of myself... looking out for myself... I was always so closed off as a child. You know, Life might have actually been pretty dark if we never met... But don't you dare say anything."
"What do I care? It has nothing to do with me."
Chii is a character that shows up starting as a minor character but quickly takes a role as part of the main cast. Akio sometimes jokes as her being the "Female version of Yume" for her constant up-beat, eccentric personality. However, Chii has a hot temper and is quick to get aggressive. She is also very excitable. Akio often makes fun of her for being short and looking very child-like. They are always going at each other but have an unspoken friendship. For the first part of the series she has a crush on Yume but later develops feelings for Akio.
"Are you making fun of me? How dare you?! I am older than you! Fight me!"
[Excited] 'I've been working on this project all weekend! Shaping, baking, sanding, filling, sanding filling sanding, filling, filling sanding, breaking, crying, eating, sleeping! ...Wait... I forgot what I was trying to say."

Ayumi plays the role of Akio's mom. She appears here an there in the series since the characters spend a lot of time at Akio's home. She is a young mom from having Akio as a teenager. She is about 32-33 years old. Even as a grown woman, wife, and mother, she is a party girl and parties a lot, along side her husband. She is an irresponsible person and overly dramatic. She is comedic character and rarely ever gets serious. She also weirdly adores Yume and is constantly trying to mother him and take care of him. Sometimes more than Akio.
"I'm just afraid that our marriage might loose its touch! That's why I wear the heels! Almost falling on my face gives you a reason to catch me. But if you don't like them... I guess I'll take them off...."
"Oh my gosh! Yume! My precious, precious, precious boy! Are you okay? It's alright! Mamma's here!"
Hideki is Akio's father. Along with his loving wife, Ayumi, he is also an Irresponsible partier and a source of comic relief. He does not show up all the time put he is always lightening the mood. He is about 33-34 years old. Even after so many years, Hideki and Ayumi still have a very lovey-dovey relationship and he can never stay mad at her for too long.
"Woman, you left me!"
(Fatherly talk) "Son, you're a man now and as a man you need to toughen up a bit."
"What do you mean I am being a disturbance? You the one disturbing me!"
Tatsuya is Yume's father. He is very laid-back and easy going. His appearances in the series are very minimal but he plays a very important role as the main source of Yume's struggles. Tatsuya is a very bad person who constantly cheats on his wife. It is not a secret from his wife or Yume but he stays somewhat discreet about it and his wife pretends not to notice to keep the family intact. He is very child like in nature. He constantly pretends like he doesn't mess around behind his wife's back but is not always so discreet when it comes to Yume, thinking that Yume doesn't care. Sometimes he even cheats in front of Yume if Senai isn't around.
[Happy] Yume! Is that your girlfriend? That's my boy! I was wondering when you'd finally bring a little lady home.
[Apologetic] I know this looks bad but, Senai, I swear this happened before we were even married. Life happens. I know it sucks but I ended up getting stuck with the kid. What am I suppose to do? Abandon him?
[Enraged] What did you just say? You better not be saying what I think you're saying, boy. Those are fighting words. Unless you are willing to pony up, you better shut your mouth right now. I pretend this didn't happen,
Senai plays the role as Yume's stepmother but has raised him as her own son. She, herself, is barren and has never been able to have a child but one day, a woman that her cheating husband had gotten pregnant dumped a four-year-old boy (Yume) on them. At first she despised the child but shortly grew to love him and raise him with little emotional support from Tatsuya, who is always away on business. She is aware of her husband's cheating ways but keeps the marriage together for the financial convenience and the fact that she has had no legal rights to Yume and fears (especially when he was younger) that he would take the boy away from her. She is a very delicate, feminine woman that is generally very graceful in her mannerisms. She appears more than Yume's father and is very important to Yume.

"He's Precious to me. I love him like my own son. I raised him. Blood doesn't matter."
Ren is Azuna's father and My friends and have joked as being the "Fabio" of the series. He is a very easy going, caring father who's life revolves around his daughter ever since his wife passed away 15 years prior to the series. He is the hardworking CEO of the family company. He is a very attractive, young-looking father who later has romantic attractions for the young maid but is conflicted because he doesn't want to hurt his daughter.
"You're dating my daughter? ... [Chuckles] You don't seem like a threat. Welcome to the family!'
"I'm sorry... This just isn't fair to Azuna... You just remind me so much of Asuna's mother."
Kikyou is the Maid of the Himene residence. She is a very gentle loving person with an endearing innocence. She is the maid Ren hired after the previous maid went off to start her own family. Azuna was practically raised by the previous maid and shows hostility toward this new "replacement". Despite Azuna being mean and rude to her, she constantly tries to earn her affection. She shows up most times when they go into Azuna's home and a couple other times Kikyo is seen chauffeuring her.
"She's the same always. Heh. We don't always get along but I can tell she is probably just going through her own stuff."
"I'm fine with just being near you. Really, I am. I realize that your just thinking about your family."
