  • I know where we are. And I know we are remarkably close to the end.

  • There’s some kind of force preying on dormant minds... not to mention dampening electrical systems and radio signals... something that broad must have a frequency, a footprint.

  • Oh, will you all stop your infernal shouting! Arguing will get us nowhere! Now let's all sit down and- oh, what's this? A poster? Missing?

  • Do you think the reptile geezer could have caused this? That ship of his seemed pretty nuts.

  • Come on, then, Doctor. Let's go... yeah, go get the Cyberman.

  • No, no, he is the Doctor, I believe him on that. He's just a bit… I dunno, weird, with that… flute of his. If I could just get my hands on it-

  • I dread going into the chamber again... seeing who’s gone...

  • You have your meaningless end then! In fact- I’ll make it easy for you- [OPENS DOOR] -there you go. Free. So go back to the house and die like your alien friend. Go and die in your own misery. Go and die without purpose!

  • There are graveyards like it across the island... until we came here... our dead now lie in the heart of the temple. (Beat) Almost everyone I know is gone. (Beat) I’m sorry... it must be the same for you. It’s the same for everyone now. (Beat) Are there more people... out there...?

  • At first, it was just... ordinary... (Beat) But then it kept on... until... children. That’s when we knew for sure... that the Divine was taking us, handful by handful.

  • I’m so tired of doing this... over and over again. I just keep on waking up...

  • You didn’t think I noticed? How you hid from him at the beginning. How you used to hide from him when it was too much. When you couldn’t let him see you struggle with it. Faith is a difficult thing. Yes, I can see that. I can see you have great difficulty pretending to believe something that you don’t.

Ice warrior. A Neo-Martian Lord who has fallen through time, wondering if the history that made him was worth it. Inspired specifically by Alan Bennion’s various Ice Lords Slaar, Azaxyr and Izlyr, from The Seeds of Death (1969), The Curse of Peladon (1972) and The Monster of Peladon (1974) [performance should reflect this].

  • Another day gone by... and still no reply from beyond this rock. Whenever I am... it would seem help is in short supply.

  • Looking out at this world... no more green... no more animals... or birds... I’m plagued by thoughts of the homeworld... of the evacuation ships racing to escape the end... of the ones left behind burning... I wonder... if I could leave this place... travel along the solar aloplexus, would I find that planet serene... and beautiful... or a barren rock... ...an empty graveyard...

  • They say everything we have been for a million generations came from you. Honour, this tradition, our eternal preservation inside that armour. (Beat) I wonder... will you want this? (Beat) Will you hear

30s-40s. A hungry young clergyman who knows the way to ensure food is given to him is to tell people they die for a reason. A lover of control, carving his own space in the world in the face of imminent doom.

  • Well met, Ben and Doctor. Welcome to the Temple of the Divine - as the last of the clergymen, I thought it best for us to live up here together. Near to the Divine Will, and all.

  • I weep for the fact that I will not see them for a long time - but I know you will all be reunited with them soon. One by one, we shall go, until it is just me, standing alone in this hall... and then I will see you all there. (Beat) Blessed are the taken.

  • Another day begins, and more of us have been selected for the next life. I want to say... I want to begin... with the truth. The truth that... I do not really weep for them. I weep for those of you who knew them but I do not weep for them. The Divine, as always, finds the ones it needs.
