Demon Slayer Chapter 1 Manga Fandub
Project Overview
This project is a long-term fandub of the Demon Slayer manga, meaning we will be dubbing over the manga in its entirety! This audition is for the characters in chapter 1 of the manga! We will be doing the other chapters at a later point!
About Demon Slayer-
Tanjiro Kamado lives with his impoverished family on a remote mountain. As the oldest sibling, he took upon the responsibility of ensuring his family's livelihood after the death of his father. On a cold winter day, he goes down to the local village in order to sell some charcoal. As dusk falls, he is forced to spend the night in the house of a curious man who cautions him of strange creatures that roam the night: malevolent demons who crave human flesh. When he finally makes his way home, Tanjiro's worst nightmare comes true. His entire family has been brutally slaughtered with the sole exception of his sister Nezuko, who has turned into a flesh-eating demon. Engulfed in hatred and despair, Tanjiro desperately tries to stop Nezuko from attacking other people, setting out on a journey to avenge his family and find a way to turn his beloved sister back into a human.
About the Director-
Hi! My name is Rae! I am 19 years old and a writer as well as an aspiring voice actor/voice director. I am a big fan of the Demon Slayer series and have been since the beginning! I really am excited to dub over this entire manga because it is by far, one of my favorites and it's also my all-time favorite anime! For this project, I will be the director, casting director, script writer, and voice actor of Nezuko!. I will also be the editor/sound editor until I find someone who can do it so I'm not cramped with things to do! I have a co-director, who you will meet if casted, and other casting directors who are helping with choosing the cast! I'm looking forward to it and good luck!
Some rules/guidelines to note before auditioning-
- -Keep in mind, this is a long-term project, so audition with knowing that!
- Something to remember when audition: You will have to yell some lines... so please acknowledge that!
- -Having knowledge of the manga or show is preferred, but not required.
- -Lines will usually be due 1-2 weeks after the script for the chapter is posted!
- -Please be 16+!
- -Have a decent sounding mic, no background noise/a quiet recording space. The mic doesn't need to be professional... just one that doesn't echo/create lots of background noise.
- -Please do at least 2 takes per line with different delivery styles!
- -Please be easy, respectful, and professional to work with.
- -Please leave your discord in the comments of your audition! Our main point of communication will be on a discord server, so it is required to have a discord account!
- -Some of my crew will be auditioning, but I am someone who doesn't play favorites and I will cast fairly!
- -Last but not least, have fun!

Tanjiro is very kind by nature and has been described by others as having very gentle eyes and a compassionate persona. He exhibits a great deal of determination and will not give up once he has a goal to achieve; the best example of this being his relentless quest to find a cure for Nezuko. Even though he is relatively strong on his own, Tanjiro isn't opposed to asking others for help when he needs it. He is very protective of his friends and even more so of his younger sister. However, despite his kind and understanding nature, Tanjiro does have a limit to his tolerance and has a distaste for rudeness and cowardice.
Tanjiro is direct and very honest, taking everyone's words with sincerity and seriousness. He has difficulty lying and doing so causes his face to contort severely, as his honest nature clashes with the insincerity of his words. Having grown up in the countryside of Japan, Tanjiro has no experience of life in large urban areas. Under Tanjiro's rather kind and friendly shell, is a person with a growing fire of rage and vengeance inside of them. In the face of irrational evil, Tanjiro shows a more cold and terrifying side of him, acting more violent towards his opponents as a result.
Tanjiro's most notable attribute is his ability to empathize with anyone, even demons, which often makes him hesitate before delivering the final blow. Tanjiro has a unique ideology regarding demons, believing that those that have committed evil should be killed without mercy, but those that regret their actions should not be belittled after their deaths, showing great nuance and maturity in Tanjiro's thinking, probably brought about by his sister. However, as Tanjiro gains experience over the years of his service, he becomes more calculating and strict in his decisions. His courage to protect the weak commits him to face his enemy with respect and dignity, whether versus good people or evil demons. Tanjiro is adamant about serving justice to the evil, by any means necessary, even declaring to cut off the heads of demons who have committed heinous crimes and confronting them about their inhumane mindset and their criminal deeds.

Kie is a warm and loving person; as the mother of 6 children, she is always seen displaying a very affectionate and caring personality. Since she is a single mother, Kie always tries to be as warm and kind to her children as she can to fill the gap her husband left. She is very protective of her children, but at the same time teaches them to be independent. She also demonstrates a positive and encouraging vibe.

Shigeru appears to be very fond of his brother, Tanjiro Kamado, wanting to follow him wherever he goes and do whatever he does. Like his siblings, he is upset when Tanjiro and his mother tells him he cannot go to town with him.

Hanako had an amazing bond with her family, she loved her oldest brother and sometimes liked to seek attention from him. Like her other siblings, she was upset about not being able to go with her brother to the village. She is also seen helping her family do household chores, and scolding her siblings if they did something naughty.

And then we were surprised because Big Bro suddenly burst into tears!
Takeo had an even more severe expression than his siblings, but Takeo cared about his family very much, showing visible dismay at the prospect of Tanjiro suddenly leaving for the town. As shown from his views regarding his older brother and sister, Takeo was very caring and loving brother to his siblings and expressed deep concern for his older siblings compassion and tendency to put others first before themselves, worrying that they may end up sacrificing something vital to themselves due to their excessive compassion and selflessness.

Saburo possesses sharp discernment. He also displays sincerity towards young Tanjiro, willing to offer him his own house to take rest in for a night because he believes demons will come out during the night and it would be unsafe for travel.

Because Demon Slayers cut them down. Have for ages...
Giyuu always wears a stoic and unbothered expression on his face. However, he has a reserved personality and a very strong sense of justice with no tolerance towards those who don't know their own limitations and throw away their lives. Despite letting Nezuko live due to Tanjiro's persistence, he shows zero hesitation when killing other demons and has no respect or mercy towards them like most Demon Slayers. Even so, Giyuu violated the Demon Slayer Corps' code of conduct without hesitation to protect Nezuko during Shinobu's attempt to kill her. This implies that he doesn't completely despise demons as some other Hashira do and is willing to make an exception for a demon by letting them live if they don't kill and eat humans. This shows that he is more pragmatic in dealing with demons rather letting his hatred cloud his judgement. He appears to have a complex with what others think of him. He is a man of very few words and has trouble interacting with others, so he usually keeps himself at a distance.
Beneath his seemingly unemotional and aloof attitude, Giyuu suffers from an inferiority complex. Despite his stoic nature, he is shown to be protective and caring towards those he is close to and considers his friends. He has been shown to lose his composure and usual stoic demeanor when those he cares about are in danger. However, Giyuu appears to be particular in who he shows emotions for. However, he will not let his personal relationships get in the way of his duty.
