GAME DESCRIPTION:
“Welcome to Shibasaki Vocational Academy, one of the most prestigious and difficult-to-enter preparatory schools in Japan. The academy teaches only the top, "Ultimate" students, but not only that—Shibasaki Vocational is a school for exclusively "twin-talented" students, or those with two ultimate talents at once!
The new school year is about to start, and excitement is in the air…
…excitement for killing, as only through the murder of another student and the covering of the heinous act will a student earn their ‘graduation party’! After finding themselves suddenly trapped in a massive shopping mall, the fifteen bright young stars must face their peers with suspicion as unanswered questions are left in the air: Who will make it out under these horrific stipulations? Who will be used as a stepstool for someone else’s own selfish ends? And most importantly, who’s pulling all the strings…?”

CASTING CALL DETAILS:
This casting call is specifically for the DEMO of DR:UDM, not the full game. When chapter 1 of the full game is far enough along in production, demo voice actors will be the first to be notified, but they will not necessarily be guaranteed a return for their role(s). The demo is set to release by the end of June, but if pushed back, the latest release date would be mid-July. This casting call itself is also likely to get a 3-4 day extension if not enough auditions have been submitted.
Please include your Discord username in your submission note to help with communication; slating is not required but not forbidden; any formatting (ABCABC, AABBCC, etc.) is allowed so long as you repeat each line at least twice! Please also include in your submission note whether you have access to a microphone (or are currently using one).
I am very flexible about which demographics can play which characters, so even if you don't exactly fit the bill, I encourage you to audition regardless! (Although please only audition if you're 13+). In addition, don't pay too much mind to the voice claims attached to most of the character descriptions; those are there to give a general idea of the voices as I picture them, but I'd love to see your take on the character above all! This being only the demo, there isn't much pressure on the voices to be 1:1 with my vision. In addition, I encourage you to audition for as many characters as you can and have lots of fun. A very minor update!
Apologies for the change to the deadline! The timezone feature seems not to work for me, for whatever reason, and so the "midnight" that I set it to was not actually midnight for me. Thus, seven more hours have been added so that it ends at the appropriate time. Sorry again!

An update!
As I mentioned in the project overview, the demo casting call has been extended by four days and will now close at midnight on the 26th. In addition, some roles have been cast and closed in order to narrow down the list and funnel more people into the roles that still need auditions.
That being said, don't lose hope if a role you auditioned for is still open, or if a role you auditioned for didn't go to you! There's a good chance you'll be assigned to another if you auditioned for multiple (which you can still do!), and there's an equally good chance that you'll end up getting an open role you auditioned for when the time comes.

Nemoto’s character falls into the “chill skater” stereotype; she is a chill, laid-back twenty-three-year-old who’s quite confident in herself.
She has a mid-to-low tone of voice and also sounds somewhat androgynous, though a lower female voice will fit just fine. Despite her nature, she doesn’t exactly talk slowly, and in fact, she can be quite blunt at times. Her current voice claim is Billie Eilish.
(The protagonist role, so she has the most lines.)
"Hey, man. How's it hangin'?" (Relaxed)
"Eh, I try not to let it bug me. Nothing good comes from staying in the past, y'know?" (Dismissive/casual)
"Heheh, I like that kid. He's charming." (Humorous, genuine)

Hasebe is a fairly level-headed and collected seventeen-year-old girl, though occasionally her temper can be quite short if she finds you particularly annoying or believes she’s being talked down to. She doesn’t usually speak more than she deems necessary, believing that not every silence needs to be filled, but she’s willing to take up the helm of leadership when no one else will step up to the task.
Despite her demeanor, she has a somewhat high voice, intended to make her more evidently young. She speaks succinctly and in a calculated fashion, and sounds somewhat perpetually impatient. Her tone does not fluctuate very much, so a large range is not necessary for her. She does not have a voice claim.
“Good evening, Miss. I hope you don’t find me rude for interrupting you.” (Polite, brusque)
“That’s ridiculous. No one’s gonna believe that, you know...” (Disbelieving, somewhat exasperated)
“Farewell. I hope to see you again soon.” (Polite, said with a smile)

Jihara is a sixteen-year-old boy who is very confident and boastful the majority of the time, although he'll sometimes directly ask for approval if he feels his persona is faltering. He's somewhat detached from reality, idolizing and potentially even fancying himself the literal reincarnation of the ancient Roman Emperor Claudius.
As such, he'll occasionally integrate Latin phrases into his speech, requiring basic Latin pronunciation abilities from the voice actor. He notably speaks with a lateral lisp (though any lisp will do, really) and says most things with his full chest as if he were an actor or a ruler giving a speech, though he is still meant to sound evidently young (mid-range). He does not have a voice claim.

“And who might you be, my dearest companion?” (Friendly, curious)
“Onwards, my posse! To new heights! ... That was cool, wasn’t it? I-I was cool just then, yeah?” (Confident/theatric, then anxious)

Okuhara is a standoffish and blunt seventeen-year-old boy who’s prone to violent verbal outbursts. He believes that most people he encounters are useless and takes himself and the work he does very seriously. Some would say he's a bit of a misanthrope, and they're probably not far off.
He tends to stutter and stumble over his words when he’s frustrated or stressed, and he speaks very quickly, as if he’s impatient with himself talking any slower. His voice also cracks and heightens in pitch when he's telling someone off (which happens a lot), requiring good vocal range. Though he is a man, his voice is meant to be very androgynous, and his voice is of mid-high range (meant to sound audibly young, though not necessarily child-like; more so just teen-angsty). His current voice claim is Ashton Fox from Fantastic Mr. Fox.
“Th-That’s another thing! There’s *nothing* that frustrates me more than that, and you all *know* it.” (Frustrated)

Amenomori is a twenty-two-year-old woman who’s very sweet, patient, and gentle. She’s also very prone to tearing up when treated harshly. She's the type of person who seems so sweet that they can do no wrong, although she seems a bit oblivious to people's boundaries sometimes.
She almost always speaks with a smile, at an average pace, and with an effort to be polite, at a mid-high range. Her voice is soft, warm, and feminine, and she’s meant to be very comforting to listen to. When she's nervous or put in an awkward spot, she sounds a bit cuter, meant to be reminiscent of the stereotypical quirky "girl next door" archetype. This role requires a scared scream for the prologue, so please only apply if you’re able to do that. Her current voice claim is Circus Baby from FNaF, though I would put more warmth into the voice than that.

Katsura is an excitable, loud, spontaneous, and confident sixteen-year-old kid who's severely lacking in both the maturity and self-awareness departments. He fancies himself a genius wizard of sorts, adding further to his constant self-aggrandizement.
They sound quite young, at mid-high range, but they also have a distinct, heavy raspiness to their voice, which makes them sound all the more androgynous. They are very, very theatrical, requiring a high vocal range for their grandiose dialogue. They speak very loudly, quickly, and excitedly. Their current voice claim is Lupine from Twelve (YouTube series by Petpyves; voice can be found in episode nine, at 10:59).
"You heard that, right? I'm not the only one who heard that?! That totally happened!" (A little frantic)
"Wahahahaha! Fooled again, Missy! They don't call me the Ultimate Soul-Reading Illusionism Extraordinaire for nothing!" (Loud, theatric, confident)
"U-Uwah! Don't sneak up on me like that, you imbecile! I could have telepathically sliced you to bits without even knowing!" (Scolding, confident)

Hatori is a twenty-six-year-old, laid-back, unbothered sort of guy, who's quite friendly and more confident in himself than the average person. His main point of interest during the discussion is himself, but he's also a bit oblivious to the idea that such a topic won't interest everyone equally.
He has a low-mid range voice and speaks with a mild slur to his words, as if he's somewhat drowsy all the time. His pace of speech is average, but it tends to accelerate when he gets excited. He does not have a voice claim.
"Good idea, man. If we're going that route, we might as well." (Casual, said with a smile)
"Oh, hey! I remember you! You must be feeling pretty special right about now, huh?" (Friendly, excited)
"Not a lot of people can compare to my career. That's fine, it's just... something I've noticed. Y'know?" (Confident, casual, a bit accidentally passive-aggressive)

Masuko is quite a career-oriented twenty-one-year-old woman who's also a bit of a perfectionist. She's a bit socially unaware and often acts with complete disregard for other people's thoughts and feelings, although she doesn't seem to notice that she is doing this.
She has a mid-range voice and a noticeable Australian accent. She also speaks quite loudly and at a quick pace. Her tone, coupled with her loud volume, is meant to sound sort of angry or frustrated at all times, even when she's not meaning to come off that way. Her current voice claim is Skye from Valorant.
"I oughta give that man a piece of my mind, don't I? I wonder if he'd mind me comin' over there myself." (Frustrated)
"D'ya think maybe he's... I don't know... not all up there? You know, a few... lights blown out upstairs? ... A little dumb?" (Blunt, yet genuinely curious)
"D-Don't gimme that look! I didn't do nothin' that he wasn't askin' for, you got that?" (A bit dramatic)

Minazuki is an eighteen-year-old girl who, despite her alternative fashion of self-expression, is fairly ordinary, although she notably refers to herself exclusively in the third person.
She has quite a mature voice of mid-low range, meant to contrast with her somewhat childish dialogue and third-person manner of speech. She speaks quite quickly and excitedly, and is very friendly and overall confident in herself. She does not have a voice claim.
"Hana knows something like that would never happen, so she doesn't bother worrying about it. That's all." (Succinct, unbothered)
"Ahaha! Hana liked that one quite a lot! You should tell more jokes like that." (Amused, somewhat childish)
"Hana doesn't like to be disturbed... what could you need at this hour?" (Sleepy, slower)

Okada is a neurotic and highly religious twenty-year-old man who has a habit of making others uncomfortable with his odd way of carrying himself.
He has a mild British accent and a very shaky mid-low range voice, as if he’s always on edge, and he speaks very intently. He tends to stutter when he gets nervous or excited, and he’s able to flip between a flat and a shrill voice very quickly, requiring a fair bit of vocal range. His current voice claim is Warren the Eagle from Don’t Hug Me, I’m Scared.
"If we all just stay together, and close our eyes in prayer, n-nothing can harm us!" (Preachy, a bit dramatic)
"I-It wasn't my fault! I was just doing what she asked me to, I swear!" (Panicked)
"Ohh...? Do you really think so?" (Surprised/curious; draw out the "oh" a little to make it more unnerving)

Yukinori is a horrifically anxious seventeen-year-old boy who makes a large effort to lay low and keep his identity a secret, constantly wearing a mask that completely hides his face wherever he goes. He struggles immensely with interacting with others, and absolutely prefers to be alone the vast majority of the time, no matter how lonesome that lifestyle may be.
He has a very meek and trembly voice of low-mid range that evidently does not get a lot of use. He stutters quite heavily and has to take pauses and time to breathe in the middle of his sentences to get the words out. His current voice claim is Legoshi from specifically the Brazilian-Portuguese dub of Beastars.
"I- I wouldn't know... something... s-something like that."
"S-Something bad is g-going to... going to happen... I know it is." (Scared, a little shrill)

Haruki is a very artistically driven and intelligent nineteen-year-old girl, who's quick to call people out for bad behavior and has quite a strong sense of self-preservation. She's easily annoyed, although she can usually keep her composure unless she's repeatedly provoked. She's intimidating at first, but makes for a very loyal friend when you get to know her.
Her voice is in a mid-low range with a fair bit of rasp, and she speaks at an average pace. Her voice becomes a little higher when she's frustrated, and can even crack at times. Her accent is optional. Her current voice claim is Catra from the 2018 reboot of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.
"That guy's got a seriously negative aura around him. I wouldn't try to talk to him." (Casual)

Yunami is a boisterous, confident, almost overly friendly seventeen-year-old girl who's very excitable and sweet. She has a bit of a sailor's mouth, frequently cussing to an almost absurd degree, which goes to show her general lack of maturity. She also has a habit of teasing those around her, which can sometimes go too far, but she really doesn't mean any harm by it.
She speaks very loudly at a mid-high range and at a pretty fast pace. She also has quite a rough voice, the type a young girl would adopt when trying to imitate a male rockstar. Her accent is optional. She does not necessarily have a voice claim, but one with similar vibes would be Genocider Syo (both from the Danganronpa games and Danganronpa: The Animation).
"Aww, man!! I was really looking forward to that! Big fuckin' bummer." (Exasperated, frustrated)
"Oh! I know! I know, I know, I know! Pick me! I know the answer!!!" (Excited, urgent)

Furusawa is a mature, sarcastic, and somewhat dry twenty-seven-year-old woman who’s always quick to tease the people she cares about. She’s quite confident, independent, and career-oriented, and tends to be followed around by younger people who admire her, though she doesn’t really know how to relate to them.
Her voice is very high, as she is affected by puberphonia, but with a notable raspiness that keeps her from sounding too young. Two voice claims for her that fit very well are Haru from the English dub of Beastars and the YouTuber Moonkitti (especially the latter).
"She said she was gonna take *you* along? ... Seriously?" (Teasing, humorous, sarcastic)
“Relax, kid, nothing bad’s gonna happen to us. Just sit back and let the adults handle this, ‘kay?” (Casual)

Kiu is a polite and kind eighteen-year-old boy who makes an effort to keep up a “customer service” exterior, though he can sometimes have a short temper with people.
He has a somewhat slow, almost ethereal voice, though it’s still distinctly masculine. He speaks softly and gently at a mid-range. His accent is optional. His current voice claim is Helios from the English dub of Sailor Moon Eternal.
"Nice to meet you mister. I'm sure it'll be a pleasure working with you." (Polite, formal)
“That man is... um... certainly something.” (Mildly awkward, trying to remain polite)

Seeing as this is a project with Danganronpa written all over it, I don't think I need to explain this role too much. Some notes I will make though are to replicate specifically the voice Monokuma has in Trigger Happy Havoc, emphasizing the raspiness of it, and to give him a slight, almost snake-like lisp/slurring of his words, for no reason other than that I find it endearing.
"Such a dumb child, that one. She'd make better as a throwpillow than anything else!" (Humorous)
"Puhuhuhuhu! I'll be seeing you soon~!" (Sing-song, a bit ominous)
"Geez, they really don't teach you kids much these days, huh? Guess we have to fill in the gaps." (Sarcastic, condescending)

Monogoro acts as an assistant of sorts to Headmaster Monokuma, and is madly, obsessively, pathetically in love with him. She’s a bit of a pushover, but usually appears formal and considerate, even when her intentions are as dark as Monokuma’s.
She sounds distinctly adult, though she still has the sort of high, cute voice that a Monokuma-esque mascot would have. At times, she can be manic and disorganized, and in these spells, she’s meant to sound somewhat unsettling, her voice becoming shakier and the speed at which she speaks increasing. Her current voice claim is Baby Jane from Bioshock.
“Oh, but don’t worry! You will still be accommodated accordingly, of course. You are Ultimates, after all.” (Sweet, polite)
"Shibasaki Vocational Academy... You'd really put your faith in that institution? Feheheh...! You might be dumber than you look." (Slower, a bit unnerving, humorous)
"Heheheheheheh... Good eeevening, Headmaster... Heheheh..." (Giddy, girlish, a little pathetic)
Voice Actor
Mononiji is one of three mascots in this killing game. She is excitable, loud, violent, whiny, and self-important, while still retaining some of that stereotypical “sweet little girl” charm. She also has a speech quirk where she ends the majority of her sentences with either “nyan” or “gaou” (pronounced “nyawn” and “gaow”, respectively).
She has a high, very androgynous voice, with a nasality that makes her sound a little nerdy. There are lines of hers that feature yelling as well as loud, maniacal laughter, so a good vocal range and capacity for volume is needed. Her current voice claim, although it more so demonstrates her tone and the general sound of her voice rather than the way she actually speaks, is Kyubey from the English dub of Madoka Magica. Her actual manner of speech (speed, range, etc.) is best represented by that of Genocider Syo. It is encouraged that you have a lot of fun with voicing her.
