About Danganronpa: Liar Liar
This is a fangame currently in the works. We are looking for voices for most of the characters and Mononya, who is our black and white robot for this game!
The game takes place with Keihaku Meinu, the Ultimate Performer waking up in a hotel with 15 other Ultimates. With the company of Naoko Akiyama, he explores the area and introduces himself to the others.
Mononya appears and forces them into a game of life and death, and is eager to see who will survive.
I don’t want to spoil if the characters have hidden personalities or go insane, so I’ll instead give a callback and give out lines that contain slight spoilers then.
Please note that I have already cast some roles, and not all the characters have been named (we’re 1 short!) so I will update this casting call as new characters are available and when some are no longer available.
Also please be aware that this game will contain lgbtq+ characters, so please don’t audition if that makes you uncomfortable, also please don’t volunteer for helping out with anything else because a lot of the team are also lgbtq+ and that may cause problems in the development process

Keihaku Meinu is the protagonist of this game. He’s performed all over the world and with many people, including the Ultimate Actor and the Ultimate Comedian, earning him the title of the Ultimate Performer.
He’s an eccentric boy, who calls everyone darling as a nickname. He’s also determined to see past Naoko’s act to see what’s inside. He cares about each and every student, and is determined to save them from this game, no matter what.
(Done mind his voice range, just as long as it suits the character) (would prefer if his va could sing, however we can work around it)
“Haha, guess I’ll need to work harder, huh?” (He says it like he’s teasing but he means it)
“Ah, I suppose you have a point darling” (he’s just had his question answered, mostly up to interpretation)
“... we’ll just have to find who did it.... that’s all we can do...” (conflicted, up to interpretation other than that)
Naoko Akiyama is the Ultimate Actor. She has a habit for lying and deflecting important questions, due to her past (when Keihaku tried to ask more, she smiled and said “getting pushy, are we?”). She actually does care for the other students, enough to nearly start crying whenever someone dies, although she always covers up her tears as best as she can.
She has set her eyes on Yuuki Maki, curious about the boy and his secrets that everyone else fails to see. He’s just a normal boy, right?
She’s deceitful, yet honest in a way no one can understand. She’s a mystery, and Keihaku is determined to figure it out.
(She doesn’t have a specific voice, however her va needs to be able to pull off a lot of emotions, due to her being the Ultimate Actor)
“Ah! I’m sorry, I don’t mean to say stuff like that!”
“I’m the Ultimate Actor, first of all, and a damn good liar. I can see through that sort of stuff.” (Confronting someone about their secret)
“Please, please! I can’t lose you!” (Desperate begging)
Tsukiko Mori is a girl who can fall asleep anywhere at any time as long as it isn’t her bed at night. In her rare moments of rest, she can actually be one of the smartest students, but most of the time she’s too tired to function.
She’s innocent, to the point of all dirty jokes fly over her head. She’s one of the kindest people Keihaku has ever met... but she’s also the most gullible.
(She’s soft spoken, with a higher voice.)
“*yawn* Hm? Oh... I fell... asleep...” (after waking up, before passing out again)
“Well... maybe... isn’t it strange?” (A rare moment where she’s awake enough to think)
“*sniff sniff* they’re... really gone? Why?... why did someone...” (after seeing a body)
the Ultimate Detective, Satomi Yamauchi is a short girl with a big heart. Naoko has lovingly dubbed her as “the mum friend!”, although Keihaku notes that she doesn’t seem to mind, as most of the time she just ruffles her hair, earning some over the top complaining.
She’s a naturally caring girl, coming from a big family that struggled while she was growing up. She’s more of a missing persons deceive due to that as well, because her siblings would sometimes run off, and she’d have to find them.
(She sounds trustworthy no matter what she’s saying. Her voice is soothing to listen to)
“I promise, while I’m here, that everyone will be safe from harm!”
“No... I’m so sorry... I couldn’t protect you” (after seeing a body)
“Wow... You really don’t let anything slide by you, huh?” (After Naoko immediately picks up on her trying to change subject, surprised and also kind of amused by it)
The Ultimate Vet, Kiyoshi Ito is a compassionate boy with a strong will to help others. He has a kind heart and a strong resolve, and wants to protect everyone as best as he can.
He’s a bit socially awkward, and when caught off guard may stutter a bit. He attempts autopsies, which Keihaku is eternally grateful for. He gets flustered even easier around Fainpure Pureston, the Ultimate Poet. Keihaku says it must be he wants to be friends but doesn’t know how. Naoko scoffs and calls him an idiot.
(Mid tone, friendly. Can talk fast at times when he gets nervous, so watch out for that.)
“I’m a Vet not a doctor! I don’t know how!” (Panicked, seeing an injury and someone demands he fix it)
“ah! They’re dead! No... who would do this?” (Surprised at the start, move into sadness at “no...” try and sound horrified at one point too)
“Well... I suppose I’ve always admired writers.” (Awkwardly answering a question)
“Well, I don’t remember it... I just woke up with a piece of paper in my hand, saying I’m the Ultimate Lucky Student”
Yuuki Maki, the Ultimate Lucky Student? He’s a pretty normal boy, despite his aloof personality and blunt words. That’s what Keihaku says anyway.
“There’s more to you, right? Hehe, what are you hiding? I can’t wait to see... or maybe there’s a part of me that already knows”
Keihaku wonders what Naoko sees, he wonders why she never refers to him the same way as the rest of them
But he’s a pretty average guy, right?
(Needs a va who can sound male but also has a higher voice. Monotone, but also needs to be able to show a lot of emotion)
“I... I don’t want this anymore. Why did they do this to me?” (Sad, defeated, the they refers to someone outside of the game)
“I uh... thank you. Really” (try and use a higher range for this line. Otherwise up to interpretation)
“...we got to investigate right? Or do you want us all to die?!” (Angry, emotional due to the dead body)
The Ultimate Poet Fainpure Pureston, a boy with a heart of gold and a mind of poetry. He’s socially awkward, yet if you catch him on a good day his eloquent words could capture any girls, or guys heart.
He’s quite weak, so he desperately wants someone to protect him, which leads to him stuttering and blushing around Kiyoshi quite often. Keihaku says it’s nerves. Naoko sighs and calls him a dumbass.
(A soft spoken boy. Don’t mind how low or high the voice is)
“U-um... I don’t mean to I-interrupt b-b-but...” (trying to stop a fight, stutters can be anywhere that feels most comfortable)
“Well... h-he’s... pretty nice, I-if that’s w-what you’re asking” (when being asked about his opinion on someone)
“No.... how c-could someone do this?” (After seeing a body)
Zugaikotsu Josozai, the Ultimate Archaeologist. She’s an upbeat girl who loves exploring. She’s a bad liar and often accidentally gets into suggestive situations without even realising. She loves her work, and loves talking about it. Keihaku can only listen for so long, but to his surprise Naoko can often hold hour long conversations with her. He prefers to join those conversations than start his own.
She’s sensitive about her height, despite not being that short, which ticks off Yuuki due to him being shorter than even Naoko. She will also defend anyone who says anything about Satomi’s height, which leads Keihaku to believe there’s more to it than just being sensitive about her own height,
(Just needs to have an excited sounding voice, preferably mid tone but high or low is fine too)
“We need singers! What kinda performance would it be without a song?!” (Upbeat, excited, probably bouncing up and down)
“Hey hey! Wanna hear about archaeology?! Cmon cmon!” (Super excited)
“Ah!... are they... dead? Cmon, Kiyoshi do something!” (Desperate after seeing a body, surprised and horrified)
The Ultimate Physician Mitsudo Boryumu is an awkward individual. He tries his best to be friendly and relate to his classmates, but unfortunately fails each time. The one thing he excels at is academics, he’s a known tutor at his old school and some students would refer to him as a teachers pet.
Due to this relation to the teachers, he was allowed to bring his pet lizard Xenu to school, and because of that he is now attached to having his dear friend with him at all times. Keihaku, although finding him a little strange, enjoys spending time with him.
(Make sure he sounds awkward, like he has trouble expressing his emotions and has trouble relating to his classmates, deeper range)
“Ah, greetings. I don’t believe I’ve had the pleasure of meeting you yet” (intro line part 1)
“Isn’t that right my little Xenu?” (Speaking to his lizard with affection. Zen-oo)
“Oh my.... Xenu, are you seeing this too?” (Shocked after seeing the body)
The Ultimate Skier, Yuki Sureiya. He’s a confident and friendly guy, who, Keihaku notes, smells like vanilla ice cream. He feels cold almost all the time, even during hot days and wears a beanie at all times. He likes ghost stories and despite sometimes getting surprised, he’s actually really good at taking them.
He’s an animal lover, and insists on naming every animal he sees. Mitsudo seems to resent it, but Naoko tells Keihaku he actually does like it, because it makes him feel like he fits in. Yuki catches wind of it, and decides to come up with a different and silly nickname for Xenu every time he sees him. Kiyoshi sometimes joins in, along with Fainpure after invitation from him.
He gets along well with Satomi, and Naoko likes to jokingly call him “dad”, however she stopped after Rarisu made a dirty joke out of it. She still sometimes calls him “father” whenever she’s in the mood for a joke.
(A friendly and confident voice, sound trustworthy and reassuring at times)
“Brr! W-Why is it so c-cold?” (Confused, it’s also like really warm when he says it so take that how you wish)
“I’m not scared! Actually, I love ghost stories! This is nothin- ah!” (False confidence before being afraid of something)
“N-no... not... Satomi, what do we do?” (After seeing a body, he’s shocked and confused, looking for guidance from mother)
The Ultimate Botanic, Rairisu Noka. She’s a creepy girl, who will go from “I love flowers” to “I’ll rip you limb from limb” every 5 seconds. Keihaku is scared of her, and will try not to engage with her often. Naoko finds her unbearable, and will hurl insults at her whenever she says “just kidding”, because it’s her line. Keihaku thinks there’s more to it then a stolen line.
However despite her creepiness, she is also extremely calm and quiet. She loves lillies, and have a sweet side to her. Then she’ll ruin it for Keihaku by jokingly threatening to poison him or someone else in the hotel, while waving a knife around and giggling.
(Needs to be able to go from sweet to a venomous tone very quickly and effectively. Higher tone that will need to go lower as well)
“Hm, do you think I care? Why would I care about the likes of them? They were weak, weren’t they?” (Mix of innocent and venomous. It’s totally up to interpretation where the sickly sweet innocence and where the venom is)
“My, I don’t know why you’re so worried. It sounds like fun!” (Sickly sweet innocent tone. She’s talking about the killing game)
“*giggle* I’m just kidding!” (After saying some scary stuff, sickly sweet again)
The Ultimate Comedian, Shiawaseni Suru. He has an incredible brain and vocabulary, to the point where at times only Fainpure knows what he’s saying. However, despite being a huge asshole, he has gathered a huge fanbase in a short amount of time. He rarely does, but when he cracks a joke outside of his performances, it makes almost anyone laugh. Naoko calls it “the ultimate power”, because he can diffuse almost any situation with a few words.
Whilst Keihaku finds him difficult, Naoko finds it easier to connect with him, and will sometimes have back handed comments that go without a reply from him. Maybe it’s the Performer in them connecting? When he asks Naoko requests he never say that again, before clarifying that it’s none of his business. “I like Yuuki way more anyway!”
(A mid range voice)
“Your sincerity is just as believable as your hair colour” (said to someone with dyed hair, condescending)
“Tch... go spout your shit at someone else” (when someone tries to make small talk, annoyed)
“SHIT... I think I left the oven on” (after seeing a body, fake panic)
Fukero Jiko, a girl with a flair for design, earning her the title of Ultimate Interior Designer. She insists her hair is natural, but no one believes her (except for maybe Tsukiko). She’s an “overdramatic attention whore with tiny tits”, as quoted from Naoko. However, she is also caring, and is not afraid to ask if someone’s okay, and to act as their therapist. Shiwaseni doesn’t seem to appreciate it, but Keihaku thinks it’s sweet.
(Nothing we have in mind at the moment, just if you suit her)
“I would never do something so shallow... oh my god I totally would, I’m a terrible person I’m so sorry” (indiginate, into realisation)
“AHHH I CAN FEEL MYSELF PASSING OUT. I’M GETTING LIGHTHEADED...” (As a reaction to a death, over dramatic panic)
“WHY IS EVERYONE IGNORING ME?!” (Annoyed, overdramatic)
The Ultimate Hacker, Kodoku Tsubusu is a boy with extraordinary ability with a laptop. Unfortunately, that talent didn’t transfer into his social skills. He hates being put into social situations, but most of the time will agree just because he doesn’t want to be rude. However, performing for him is a big no, which doesn’t bode well for a friendship between him and Keihaku, but he’s determined to try anyway.
He prefers to sit in his dark room, ignoring society and staying inside all day. The only time he ever speaks is when he’s forced to or is thinking deeply about something.
A shy boy who hates physical contact. He’s a great listener, but it’s a bit of gamble whether he’s actually interested or just being polite.
(A quiet voice, who can sound awkward and doesn’t mind not talking much)
“... okay...” (reluctant to speak at all)
“Could you... please let go of me...?” (Awkward tone)
“... I’d rather not... actually” (after being asked to do something he really doesn’t want to do)
Kekkon Okane is the Ultimate Socialite, known for her great following online. She’s also known for her attitude. Despite sometimes having meaningful acts of kindness, she hates being called nice, and most people are totally okay with that. She’s very fashionable, very rich, very shallow, and also plans to marry into a rich family to double her money. Naoko absolutely hates her, and Keihaku can’t really blame her.
She sometimes can have a dirty sense of humour, which can confuse Tsukiko and entertain Rairisu. Keihaku has never met someone like her before, and he isn’t entirely sure yet is he wants it to be the last time.
(Needs to sound bratty and stuck up)
“Honey, who told you that you could pull that blouse off?” (Stuck up, thinks she’s totally roasting them)
“Yeah sure, you have love and emotions, but I have a great rack! Kyahaha!” (Arrogant, giggles at the end)
“Hun... c’mon honey rise and shine... Well, looks like someone can’t handle their alcohol!” (After seeing a dead body, joking around)
Ishi Masayoshi is the Ultimate Lawyer. She’s quite serious and doesn’t understand most pop culture references. She can sometimes come off as condescending sometimes and is very intimidating, however she also has a strong resolve and wants to save as many people as possible.
She’s quite logical, and will sometimes reprimand the others for joking around in such a serious situation. She’s oddly self sacrificing as well, which leaves Naoko concerned (however she teases Keihaku for thinking so). Tsukiko finds her presence comforting and will fall asleep near her a lot, saying “her aura of intimidation.... it makes me feel safe from baddies...”.
(Her voice is pretty monotone and serious, however some emotion is allowed, how much depends on personal choice of her va)
“I... don’t understand that reference”
“Please take this seriously”
“No... I’ve failed them” (in reaction to a dead body)
Mononya is the owner of the hotel, and an absolute nightmare. Whilst nothing but a small cat robot, she holds the power of life and death over the students. She finds their suffering entertaining, and will become bored if nothing happens quickly. She may be an absolute nightmare, but she also supports equality, which she makes clear the first day. “Everyone’s equal when it comes to despair nya~!”
While Keihaku finds the words random, Naoko states she believes that may end up being greatly important later on...
Well, not like Mononya cares what she thinks!
(A high pitched voice, make her sound cutesy, but being able to show the power she holds over them is important, especially being able to show venom in her voice for threats)
“Welcome to the game of a lifetime! Nya~” (like she’s announcing something)
“Whaaaat? Someone’s dead? What a disaster nya~!” (Sarcastic)
“Nya~ you’re so boring.... This is fun!” (When someone talks back to her)
Ketsu Bo. Supposedly the Former Ultimate TV Star, he’s a mysterious individual. Keihaku will sometimes see this man in his dreams, or hallucinate his presence. When he mentions it, only Naoko shows signs of understanding what he means.
There’s something oddly familiar about him...
Well, I suppose he isn’t new to this whole killing game thing, is he?
(Whatever you think works the best, maybe leaning towards a deeper voice, however the most important thing is how the words are said, he says few but almost every single one is important)
“‘No, that’s wrong!’ Hehe... been awhile since I’ve heard that... nostalgic in a way, haha” (when he says the protag line he actually sounds like a proper protag)
“Your hope... it’s only going to get you so far...” (almost bitter in a way)
“You’ve done well... for a bunch of misfits... and with your... interesting leader.”
