Danganronpa: Comic Dubs - Auditioning for Youtube Series
Project Overview
Hello All!
This is a casting call for some Danganronpa characters we are in need of voices for! This will be for creating Youtube videos and projects, dubbing anthology comics, fan comics, memes, and the like! All for fun! :)
We have been doing this for a little while - but find ourselves in need of new characters/recasts for our ongoing projects, and are interested in anybody willing to share their impressions with us! :)
There are a few expectations which I will lay out below:
1) This project and community is managed via Discord - so please have a Discord account ready to go. Although, if you have a really great voice but no Discord account, we could potentially work with that. So consider this a preference.
2) Please be willing to communicate your availability. This project is ongoing - we tend to tackle 1 or 2 comics at a time, with many others on standby. As in - we are in need of these particular characters now for current projects, but we won't know when we'll need you again until we know which comic we're doing next. Our community is housed within Discord, which is what we use to communicate with Voice Actors, and where we ask the voices to be handed in. If you find that too much time has passed, and you don't feel like you want to be a part of the project anymore - or something has come up that will prevent you from recording for a certain period of time - PLEASE let us know. We are EXTREMELY reasonable and accommodating - but it is hard to manage the project when we don't know the status of our VAs.
3) Microphone quality isn't everything, but it is important! We don't expect Hollywood - but please try your very best to hand in high quality audio recordings. This means try and prevent any background noises, dog barkings, car honkings, TV talkings, hisses, hums, or anything of that nature. If you hear any of that in your recording, we ask you please to try again, as that will heavily influence our decision making.
4) Unfortunately, due to the nature of fan projects, this will not be paid work. These characters obviously don't belong to us, nor do this fan comics, so we cannot in good faith monetize the videos/do this for a profit. If that prevents you from auditioning we completely understand!
5) And finally, PLEASE treat others the way you would want to be treated! We have set up a selection of rules within the server, that can be summarized as "Just please be a good person". If we see any comments that are racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, bullying, or ANYTHING that can fit within that category - you will be removed from the server and likely the project entirely. We want this to be a positive and safe environment for all. In the event you witness behavior like this, and us creators do not, PLEASE let us know and we will step in. There will also be minors in the server - so please keep that in mind as well.

While definitely a spazz, there's an extreme amount of genuine positivity that comes from Ibuki. She's a hyperactive rockstar, but it's almost impossible not to smile at her antics and hijinks.
Bold, upbeat, and quirky - a little air-headed, but not an idiot. She can definitely grasp what's going on, and react to it in her own unique way. She can give oddly powerful advice to those who need it, and is honestly a very caring friend.
Ibuki does also refer to herself in the third person, so that's notable xD
We're looking for someone who can really capture that explosive positivity, and a voice that says "Literally ANYTHING can come out of my mouth!!"

Obviously by hiding the body, they tried to delay it's discovery!! Like a dog burying a bone!!
*Really over the top gasp*!! Peko killed poor Byakuya!? Was this island not big enough for TWO glasses-wearers?!

Mysterious, stern, and calculating are words that come to mind when I think of Peko. As a swordswoman, she carries with her a serious demeanor that starkly contrasts her with the rest of her peers. Her almost robotic emotional state makes her come off as very intimidating - but she's actually much more human deep down.
She likes being with friends, loves animals, and genuinely has a good heart behind her sword. Rather than emotionless - she simply doesn't share her emotions too often. She's perfectly capable of expressing herself, and so we're not looking for a blank or monotone voice with her. Just someone who carries herself with a certain seriousness that could likely scare off anybody who doesn't want to get to know her better.

This may be off topic.... but why was Byakuya acting so paranoid? Not only did he bring a self-defense kit.. but he had night vision goggles inside the case too.
I believe there is no need to discuss this matter further. He has already confessed.
If you keep making up your mind like that, we're just going to keep going around in circles.

Talk about outgoing - Hina is one of the most friendly and wholesome people you can come across in the series of Danganronpa. An athletic swimmer with a penchant for donuts, she has alot of energy to burn, and one of the biggest hearts you will ever see.
Hina is your best friend. She'll give you a high five, race you to the cafeteria, and give you all the positive encouragement you can possibly need. She does have a bit of a kick to her - she can be snarky, not afraid to hit you with a friendly jab. And a bit of a tomboy - especially considering she's alot stronger than she looks, given how fit she is. She's not the... sharpest tool in the shed, and she knows it. But she gives everything her best effort, and that's what's important to her.
Though she's also a softie. She is shown plenty of times to be anxious and afraid - in fact her reactions to the events of the game are probably the closest thing to a normal "human" reaction. She behaves in an extremely relatable and genuine way. And that's how I'd describe her - genuine. Someone who's loyal, friendly, silly, and strong.
There are lots of potential directions to take her voice, so I'm very excited to hear your interpretation!

Actually.... no. Because... um... well?..... I got so scared cause of those creepy videos! I wasn't really thinking, I just asked her to stay over. Which means.. she and I have airtight alibis!
Ok! Then we can do something in the Rec Room! I'm not good at much, but I DO know how to play Othello! I'm not very good at that either, though. I don't like to think when I'm playing, sooo...

Hajime is the protagonist of the 2nd game in the series, Danganronpa 2.
He's not exactly a wide-eyed positive anime protagonist, though. He's a bit cynical, actually. He doesn't remember much about his past, and so he comes off as a bit defensive or skeptical. He's a realist - logically looking at the facts in a non-biased kind of way, to the point where it can actually be frustrating for him not to understand something fully.
He's not afraid to speak his mind, or even joke around. He classifies himself as "normal" but I wouldn't exactly say that's accurate. He's reserved, and inquisitive. Everything he says almost sounds like a question. He's not extremely confident in himself or his skills and abilities - but when he sees the facts, and knows they are true, he will do everything in his power to explain the rest of his classmates what he has found.
All this being said - he definitely comes across as a little awkward. He is generally pleasant, but has trouble relating to others on a social level. He is very insecure about himself, and doesn't believe himself to be as talented as his peers. But his perception and intellect are talents to behold.

I'm not to special that I *have* to introduce myself.. and formalities are always a little embarrassing. But if that's what's expected... My name is Hajime Hinata. There's only one reason I came to Hope's Peak Academy... it's that I admire Hope's Peak Academy.
Judging from everyone's positions before the blackout, the only person near the power cord was Nagito! If you factor in the power cord, and the time you spent cleaning... you're the only one who could have done it!
... Nagito... tell me you object to this. I don't wanna believe it, either.
When she leaned her sword against the wall to use it as a step stool... she tied her sword bag to it! And after she climbed up to the window, as long as she hauled the bag up toward her... she would have been able to recover the bamboo sword!
Taka is a lot to take in. He takes his role as a student leader *very* seriously. He is righteous, and values order and rules above all else. As such, he can often be seen as a buzzkill, reprimanding you for being late to class. He is extremely particular and organized, having 10 sets of the same uniform so that he never runs out, and so he can wear one every single day of the year.
Due to Taka's loud and in your face tendencies, he can often be seen as annoying or strange. But with that grade-A student demeanor comes a heart of pure platinum. He believes in absolutely everybody, no matter what, even if his beliefs aren't exactly realistic. He can be very judgmental when you do something wrong, but that is only because he thoroughly believes that you can do it right.
He's a very comical and over the top character - so you can definitely have some fun with this one :)

Yasuhiro is admittedly a bit of a bum. He's older than his peers, and is most *definitely* not the sharpest tool in the shed.
He's laid back, gullible, and quick to freak out. He's a bit of a conspiracy theorist, terrified of ghosts and all forms of the occult. He finds himself often playing the role of the coward, the lazy, the one that causes many problems for the others. As a person he's honestly pretty chill - he's confident about the person he is, and generally doesn't have a problem with anybody. He'd honestly be a pretty cool guy, if it wasn't for his laundry list of faults. Sometimes his mistakes are purely on accident, like the world is against him. But other times he genuinely acts in a selfish manner that gets him into trouble.
Does he have a more cunning side underneath it all? Is there a genius hiding underneath all that bumbling? Probably not. But he's pretty much ok with that.

As if! Since when has this turned into some kinda sci-fi fantasy?
KIIBO is a polite and serious robot boy, who has some trouble with human social interaction. Which often comes across as unintentionally comical as a result. Yes, KIIBO is a robot, but he will be quick to assure you that he's just like any other guy. He does take pride in being a robot, and is more than happy to educate and answer questions about what being a robot is like, but he absolutely will not condone any name calling or robophobia.
He is actually far more insecure than you'd think - possibly being self conscious that his robot form doesn't have any of the cool abilities people are quick to ask him about, like lasers or jet powered flight. He would honestly rather be a normal, every day robot instead of something fantastical like that. He is working to understand what it means to be human, and act like how everyday teenagers would.
He is very well meaning and kind, genuinely wanting to be friends with everyone he can, even though he often ends up as the butt of people's jokes. Which isn't helped by his somewhat oversensitive and wimpy reactions. But he gets increasingly confident as time goes on, even to the point of motivating others towards hope.

Arrogant, serious, pompous, rude. Byakuya is not exactly a pleasure to talk to. Heir to the Togami family and fortune, he gives off a high and mighty attitude, not believing that those below him are worth speaking to. He is often cold, blunt, and reserved - preferring to work alone, and mocking those who decide to be cooperative. However, despite all this, he is not as actively mean as he seems.
While bluntly stating that he and the others are not friends, he has no intentions on killing anyone, and wants to see whoever is responsible brought to justice just like anyone else. He doesn't actively look to antagonize the others - but will speak his mind if he finds they are getting in his way. He is EXTREMELY confident in his abilities, and feels like there isn't a challenge that he cannot overcome. In fact - he often suffers from boredom due to how lowly he finds the challenges presented to him. Anything regarding bonding, friendship, or emotional ties he dismisses as being unimportant - as he was raised in an extremely competitive and high stakes environment. He does not know any other way.

Each piece isn't much by itself... but start putting them together and the picture becomes very ugly indeed.... Wouldn't you agree, Celeste?

Komaru is the main character Makoto's little sister. She isn't as experienced or as confident as her brother, and as such stumbles alot in her attempts to pursue hope. She shows some childish traits, such as being naive, reliant, and easy excitable. She can be very gullible - and also strangely competitive when it comes to solving puzzles, even going to far as to brag.
While often a kind and cheerful person, Komaru sometimes struggles with relating to people's hardships, and often puts her struggles lower than other's. Since she has lived a very "ordinary" life as she calls it, she considers her own struggles nothing compared to what other people must have gone through. As such - she starts off with major confidence issues that work to improve over the course of the game.
She's a bit of a jack of all trades. She sometimes gives up too easily, while other times acts extremely stubborn and determined. Sometimes she gives in to her feelings of worry and fear, other times she sticks up for others to what she believes is right. She's a pretty unique character.

Ha! It's open! Aw yeah! That's right! Who's the boss now? Mmhmm! Now all we have to do is cross over the bridge!

As Celeste is so often lying about herself and her past, it's extremely difficult to pinpoint what she is like as a person. She is cold, calculating, collected, and spoiled, that much we know for sure. She has dreams and ambitions that are very difficult for the average person to understand - and she carries herself in a sort of royal vain that puts her above her peers.
Her manipulation skills are unmatched, and she has an incredible desire to win at any cost. She will quickly go for the lowest, most gullible people she can find, and bend them to her will. She is a remarkably good player at this game, and does whatever she can to keep up appearances, and never show any signs of weakness. She is a very complicated character.

Now that you mention it, yes. I did see him. Ohhhh~ But I suppose, only Makoto knows about this. The rest of you had no idea, did you?... That's why you are all making such.. ugly noises.
Tsumugi is an honors student, who speaks in a docile and gentle way. But she becomes very passionate when she talks about her favorite series or cosplays, having a habit of slipping quotes and references from various sources into the conversation. Being a self-proclaimed introvert, she also tends to ignore other people while she is in her own thoughts - no matter how many times they try to talk to her. This makes her appear as rather distant and aloof.
Despite her plain and docile attitude - she occasionally hints at a much weirder and bizarre personality underneath. She's a bit of an odd duck, and is much more of a follower than a leader. She quickly changes her mind to follow the majority, even if she doesn't have any reason of her own for it, and would rather blend in than be the center of attention.
