Synopsis
Danganronpa: Bloodstained Abyss follows Charlotte Ashfield, the Ultimate Lucky Student, who finds herself trapped in a strange, unfamiliar school located at the bottom of the ocean on her first day at Hope's Peak Academy.
Charlotte, along with her teacher and 9 other classmates, is told that the only way to escape from the school is to murder a fellow participant and get away with it in a class trial, overseen by the Ultimate Prosecutor, Gaia Calanthe.
Will it be possible for Charlotte to escape the killing game in one piece and discover the truth of the situation, or will she die trying...?
Video Format
This project will follow a voice drama format, following the protagonist, Charlotte Ashfield. Weekly episodes of the series will be posted on the project's official YouTube channel (linked above) on a chapter-by-chapter basis, with interlude episodes in-between each chapter showcasing the lost memories of the killing game's participants.
Audition Information
It is greatly preferred that auditions are submitted in a AABBCC format, but not required.
It is preferred that people who audition are above the age of 16, due to the contents of the project.
Please include your Discord handle with your audition, so that I have a means to communicate with you. Throughout the project, communication will be done over Discord, so it is a requirement.
Additionally, please join the Casting Server (linked above)! It makes it much easier to get in touch with both me, as well as any other people who have auditioned who can give you feedback and suggestions for your audition.

FAQ
"Haven't there already been VAs casted for this project before? Why have auditions been reopened?"
That is correct! However, I believe that I casted too early, way before I was properly prepared to create this project. As such, I've reopened the auditions to both breathe new life into the project, as well as make sure that this project is as high quality as it can be!
"Why aren't the roles of Charlotte Ashfield (Ultimate Lucky Student) and Diane Bellerose (Ultimate Perfumer) available?"
Charlotte and Diane are the two characters that WONT be recasted, since Charlotte's lines have already been used in editing (see the prologue preview linked above), and all of Diane's lines for the prologue are already recorded!
Voice Actor Expectations
Danganronpa: Bloodstained Abyss will cover a number of heavy topics, including but not limited to:
Depictions of blood, gore and character death,
Cursing, course language, screaming and crying, et cetera,
Discussions and depictions of abuse,
And other potentially sensitive topics.
Please do not audition if you are comfortable with these subjects.
Additionally, the following should be considered:
Due to the Voice Drama format of this project, a LOT of recording is expected. Additionally, this project will likely take a long time to produce, so please do not audition if you are not prepared to be in it for the long haul, and record lots.
Audio and microphone quality will play a large factor in casting. Please ensure that your recordings are as high quality as possible.
Voice Actors are expected to preferably be as active and passionate as possible! A project of this caliber requires a lot of time, effort and passion to be put into it, so please make sure to give it your all! Thank you!

Daisuke is well-known for his friendliness and kindness towards his fellow classmates, often going out of his way to be kind to anyone unconditionally. He always makes an effort to present himself as warm and bright to everyone, but due to the non-stop, relentless nature of his work, deep down he yearns for an opportunity to rest and lower his facade for a moment.
Daisuke's voice should be a low-medium pitch, and should be warm, friendly and inviting, as if he's going out of his way to look out for you.
"Hey, are you alright? You... hit your head pretty badly there. Here, let me help you up." (worried, but caring & gentle tone)
"Haha, that's right! I bake all sorts of cakes, pastries and desserts! Oh, I ought to bake you something sometime! Any preferences?" (excited tone)
"Uh... if the killer was in the other room when the murder happened, then... it wouldn't have even been possible, right? I mean, unless they came up with some sort of mechanism..." (concerned, explaining)
Mathias is a former student at Hope's Peak Academy, who now works at the school as a teacher. At first, he comes off as stoic and intimidating at times, having a tendency to close himself off for reasons he refuses to disclose. However, upon getting to know him, Mathias is both deeply protective of his students, willing to put himself in harm's way if it means he can protect them, yet also somewhat cocky and egotistical, overestimating how much he can handle.
Mathias' voice should be low-pitched and masculine, with a gruff tone that can either come off as grumpy or cocky depending on the situation.
"Haha, that's right. I don't mean to brag, but... I'm sure this kid could tell you all about how strong I was in the ring back in the day." (cocky, slightly boastful tone)
"Shit, sorry, my bad. Should've given ya a bit more warning, but... look, the weapon doesn't have any blood on it right here. You think that could mean somethin'?" (startled, then concerned tone)
"I don’t know why you’re doing this, or what your goal is, but I will not let you do this. Not again, and not to my students. Call it off." (stern and angry tone, but not yelling)
Naomi is an easily excitable and cheerful girl, who seems to always be on the lookout to make new friends. She'll always go out of her way to offer makeovers to anyone and everyone she wants to be friends with, to the extent that it often comes off as overbearing. However, it's very clear that at the end of the day, she wants to be a beacon of energy for everyone, especially in difficult situations.
Naomi's voice should be of a medium-high pitch, as well as bright, bubbly and energetic. Naomi is a trans girl, so a trans VA would be preferred, but all auditions are welcome!
"Hmm, I was just thinking about what sort of nickname to give you... I mean, your name isn't really super nickname-able... Ooh, maybe 'Uchi' could work?" (deep in thought, thinking)
"Challenge accepted! I, Naomi Kimura, vow to give you the coolest, cutest makeover as soon as possible! I'll make sure to have it compliment your style and everything, and- Oh, that reminds me, there's this one necklace I have which compliments your eyes, and-" (very excited, rambling)
"Wh... what? This can't be happening, you- Why would someone kill her!? And you're telling us we have to go to some... class trial!?" (scared, worried, somewhat baffled tone)
From every facet of how she presents herself, Tsumugi immediately comes off as reserved and closed-off. At times, it's almost impossible to pull her away from her reading, and when she does she's usually incredibly irritable, getting frustrated at the slightest annoyance. Ultimately, though, she's just incredibly passionate about her interests, and can be very fun to talk to should you share any interests with her.
Tsumugi's voice should be high-pitched, and usually very-soft spoken. However, when she's irritated, she speaks in a rather brash tone. Range is very important for this character, so make sure to emphasize things in her lines where she's particularly annoyed. Expect to yell and scream lots!
“No, no, no, it’s fine! I’m sure that if you even TRIED to tidy up your own messes, you’d only make things worse! Just… get out. Go be someone else’s problem... God, this is the worst day ever...” (sarcastic, frustrated tone)
"Maybe the woman over the intercom was probably waiting on everyone who’s here to have finished exploring before calling an assembly. I doubt something as important as a group meeting would be announced randomly."
"I-I, um... sure, Diane, uh... I'd be happy to have a cup of tea with you, if... if that'd be alright with you, I mean..." (flustered, slightly embarrassed tone)
Compared to his younger sister, Hisoka is very much more friendly and talkative, despite their overall similar temperament. He tends to present himself as very analytical, yet also gentle and considerate of others, befitting of his talent. However, under the right circumstances, he can be just as passionate about his interests as his sister, Tsumugi, and has a tendency to go on tangents about obscure rhythm games or medical terminology.
Hisoka's voice should be low and masculine, coming off as exhausted, as if he's always tired, and somewhat gravelly and raspy. Additionally, he should occasionally come off as monotone or stern.
"I must say, from a doctor's perspective, this infirmary is practically a goldmine of high-grade equipment. I'm surprised that a school infirmary is this well-equipped, but... Considering it's Hope's Peak, it's to be expected." (intrigued, slightly excited, explaining)
"In order to set off the trap, the killer would have had to use a lot of force to activate it... Plus, they'd also need to be able to grab the victim's attention to lure them over. The killer would've definitely needed to be multitasking to pull this off." (analytical, concerned tone)
"Don't try your luck. I'm only patching you up because it's my duty as the class' medic. You should consider yourself lucky you didn't get even more hurt." (frustrated, stern tone)
Upon meeting her, Haneul immediately comes off as somewhat antisocial, speaking in a blunt and sarcastic manner most of the time. However, upon getting to know her, she's deeply considerate, with a great sense of humour. Usually, she presents herself in a more masculine fashion, but has a secret love for anything cute and fluffy.
Haneul's voice should be low-pitched, with a slightly boyish tone to it. Additionally, most of her lines should be read in a blunt and sarcastic tone, but far from monotone.
"Yeah, no, I'm not the type to really flaunt my talent like some of the others here. Like, I get you're excited to be attending and all, but you don't have to go and make it my problem." (tired, somewhat agitated tone)
"Tch, tell me about it! The lack of fresh air down here is absolutely insufferable. Hell, if it gets any worse, maybe that'll be my motive to kill." (sarcastic, humorous tone)
"What the actual fuck are you talking about!? Own up to what you did. Just because you've got some sad sob story doesn't mean you can get away with murder." (angry, interrogating)
Akihiko immediately comes off to everyone he meets as self-centered and sly, often not caring for anything if it doesn't directly benefit him. Akihiko isn't a stranger at all to manipulating people and acting two-faced, so long as it means that he gets something out of it. Through all this, though, he otherwise presents himself in a peppy and flashy manner, loving to be the center of attention.
Akihiko's voice should be of a low-medium pitch, speaking in a sly, scheming and cunning cadence, as if he's deliberately going out of his way to get something out of you, be it a reaction or something tangible.
"Ah, you're familiar with my work, then? I didn't expect to meet any of my fans while attending, although... I wouldn't say I'm particularly surprised." (cocky, egotistical tone)
"How about instead of harassing me relentlessly, you go off and do something more... productive with your life, so to say? To be frank, I don't have the energy to deal with you." (frustrated, rude tone)
"Hahahaha, this is absolutely thrilling! I have to applaud whoever came up with this idea, it truly is something only a genius could come up with!" (excited, amused tone)
Kazuhiko, despite being incredibly knowledgeable with everything related to robotics, often comes off to many as naïve with little to no common sense. He's a coward at heart, often being very flighty and agitated in moments of stress. Overall, though, he's very energetic and excitable in nature, and is always willing to talk for hours on end about robotics if you're bored.
Kazuhiko's voice should be of a medium-high pitch, being loud and energetic while also somewhat nasally and raspy. Additionally, due to his tendency to be easily frightened, he should be somewhat jumpy; range is very important for this character, so make sure to give it your all, and expect to yell and be loud!
"If that's settled, then I've got a date with the stairwell! I'm gonna see if I can't tinker with the card reader and open the gates, mwehehe..." (mischievous, excited tone)
"Ow- shit... Apollo, did you have to elbow me so damn hard!? Fuckfuckfuck, I think you must've broken a rib, ow ow ow...." (pained, agitated and overly dramatic tone)
"Wh- What the fuck!? No, no, dude, this can't be real, you can't be doing this- Oh god, dude, I'm too young to die..." (panicked, flighty tone)
In contrast to his best friend, Kazuhiko, Apollo is far more steadfast and headstrong, always willing to face danger rather than running away. However, he's just as energetic, especially when his passion for sports is the topic of conversation. Overall, he's incredibly motivated in every situation, always refusing to back down, to the extent he comes off as somewhat stubborn or arrogant.
Apollo's voice should be of a medium-pitch, as well as energetic, grounded and strong. At times, he should come off as cocky and brash, overestimating his capabilities. A black VA would be preferred for this role, but all auditions are welcome!
"Dude, can you even believe it, though!? THE Mathias Fisher is OUR teacher! The dude's totally been like, a huge inspiration for me for all of my life!" (excited, inspired tone)
"I’m not GONNA try because, one, you’d barely even be able to tell what her talent is judging by just her outfit, and two, I already know it! It was on the Hope’s Peak website!" (frustrated, annoyed tone)
"You've got to be joking... no, no, this can't be happening... you're joking, right!? Please, tell me you aren't gonna do this!" (terrified yet agitated tone)
As the host of the killing game, Gaia comes off as cold and unapologetic, uncaring for other's emotions in the name of true justice. At times, though, her facade falters, and she seems to be somewhat easily flustered, having a tendency to make mistakes when it comes to running the killing game, which... In all honestly, she isn't the best at. Still, she manages to maintain a cold, uncaring front.
Gaia should speak with a low-medium pitch, with a monotone and professional tone most of the time. However, at times, when her facade breaks and emotions slip through, her tone should shift to be either more flustered and embarrassed, or stern and annoyed depending on the situation.
"As I have said, the killing game will continue until there are no longer enough participants to hold a fair class trial. Now then, are there any questions?" (monotone, professional tone)
"If you would stop interrupting me, I'd be actually able to explain. Quit wasting mine and everyone else's time with your relentless badgering, won't you?" (annoyed, agitated tone)
"A-Ah, I, um... correct, I... did forget to go over the rules... My apologies, I'll try to be more professional in the future." (embarrassed, flustered tone)
