Project Overview

Cyberfurs is a hobby worldbuilding project I started back in 2016, and has evolved over the years as I've grown into an adult and expanded my horizons.

It's a sci-fi mixed media project taking place in the Andromeda galaxy, in an alternate universe. There are a bunch of whimsical and interesting characters, species, and lore that fall within it. Some is original, and some is borrowed from other ideas.

It asks questions like "when does an AI constitute as conscious," and "what are the ethics of intelligent robotics?"

The story is currently mainly revolving around an ARG that features cryptic visual, auditory, written, and cryptographic puzzles, but I've been diving into 3D work, working with some concept artist friends of mine, and starting to draft ideas for some short animations, animatics, VR skits, and comics.

It also features original music and soundscape design (by yours truly/)

I currently need voices for some leading roles, as well as voices for supporting roles. Assume that this project will be volunteer only for the time being but in the future I may crowdfund some larger project ideas, and use that to pay voice actors and some extra animators.

Although this project is not 18+, it does have themes surrounding philosophy, violence, and may involve some vulgarity when appropriate for emphasis within the story. Please only audition if you're okay with this.

For the time being, I'll be selecting some additional supporting and minor roles using the same auditions as below. I will update the project with more roles as I see fit based on initial response.

I have experience managing projects like this in the past. Some haven't worked out, others have. Ultimately though, this is an ongoing project that takes various forms, and I'm hoping to keep it running as a passion project as long as I can! I will provide coaching and detailed feedback to actors. I'd love to grow with you :)

  • Casting Offers Have Been Sent Out

    Hey all! I have reviewed most auditions and sorted them accordingly. Two roles have been definitively cast and I have sent out some extra offers to some other voices I liked. I still have a few auditions to review when I find time so I may still have a few offers to send.   • Update on Auditions

    Hey all, life got in the way for me for a while. For those of you that auditioned, thank you so much! I will be reviewing these ASAP and working on onboarding. The project has evolved and changed a fair bit in the last few months and I am still in great need of voices!

  • Mini Update

    Hey all! I will be providing some more feedback to auditions soon. I've just been quite busy! I work full-time + manage streams, and on top of that I've been planning my 21st birthday for this weekend. so I haven't had a huge amount of time to check this out!

WAVERACER is a lab creation that was designed with the job of a mercenary in mind. They're incredibly tough, calculated, intelligent, and resilient to the elements. Despite this, they're trying to break free from their fate and gain freedom and independence, much to the dismay of the sapiens.

WAVERACER acts primarily out of self-interest, and by their nature they are extremely destructive despite usually being articulate and appearing as calm.

Any accents stemming from the British English family, including Scottish, Irish, New Zealand, and Australia, are welcomed. If an accent such as scottish is chosen, help with adjusting lines to be more dialect-appropriate would be welcomed.

The voice actor for WAVERACER will also voice the scientist leading the project that created them.

  • (Accusatory, gradually getting heated) Creator? The only thing you've created is a divide. I know you have an ethics committee, and I know that they didn't agree with this project. And I know that even a lot of your peers disagreed with it. If you'd like to come and face me, I know you're tracking me. Maybe you should have made me a bit dumber, eh?

  • (Mildly amused, attempting to act disinterested) Look, they developed me specifically with the express purpose of hunting YOU down. I'm glad you think the hoverboots are cool, but strapping a wheel to your foot isn't going to get you skating around in ice deserts. I understand that you're trying to stay positive and be entertaining here but... (Shifting to annoyance/mild contempt) hold on, what are you doing? Stop that, you're just making a fool of yourself, HE'LL be here any minute soon.

  • (Frantic, disheartened and in denial) What?... Why? Why would you do that? I thought you wanted them ALIVE. (Growing more frantic) No, no no no. He- this... this WASN'T what you wanted, I don't understand. (Angry) You're making a FOOL out of me.

Node is a carefree spirit, but is quite intelligent. He tries to make those around him happy, and enjoys helping out in any way he can. He's a fast runner and skilled at repairing starship technology. He doesn't need to (and cannot) eat, but he has a fixation on baked goods because of their colors.

Mavic is quiet and inquisitive, often preferring to stay indoors and work on equipment then explore planets or space. He is well-respected among high ranking officials not just among rivals, but several other intergalactic traveling civilizations, for his willingness to help and wise perspectives on problems. 

Mavic is 424 years old, and an early prototype unit of his species. He looks good, but has trouble seeing that himself!
