Intro
Hello everyone after an extremely long hiatus we're finally back with another casting call! For those who are new to the project, Backstage Psychosis is an anthological podcast series which explores the themes of horror, myths and urban legends. So come and join us into the abyss as we descend into the depths of humanity's sins. DEADLINES AND AUDITIONS
The deadline for auditions is 2nd December. We’ll notify the voice actors who have been cast in roles within a day depending the number of auditions.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We communicate primarily through Discord. If you are unfamiliar with this application, you can still audition, however, we strongly recommend participation through Discord so that you can collaborate with your fellow voice actors.
WHAT WE ASK OF YOU
First, have fun! We take pride in bringing together talents in different mediums to create something we’re proud of, but none of it means anything if the people involved aren't passionate about their craft.
Please submit clean recordings on prosumer mics (no air conditioners in the background, no fans -- we don't mind performing noise reduction on your files, however too much clean-up reduces the quality of your voice). And speaking of clean-up -- please let us handle the post-production. Don't add effects to your lines -- leave that to us.
Feel free to cut your lines to your best/favourite takes. Three is the gold standard and the minimum we require for each line. We have a few voice actors that would rather give us more takes, and that's okay, too. However please at least remove the takes you don't want to be featured on the podcast.
Please keep in mind that when you audition for a role within The Collector series, we ask all VA's to meet specified deadlines so that we have time for re-edits if needed. We want to make sure that each episode properly showcases the talented work of that VA.
Episode synopsis
Urban legends past through the ages are told through various means. The tale of Cracked Amber is a sad melody to stay away from Frostwood.
♫ On a moonlit trail in Sunwood’s cold, A tale is woven both dark and bold Amber wandered into the night Humming a tune her voice so light His shadows loomed, and fate did call, a madman's anger, the worst of all. Chris came speeding, lights ablaze In his pickup truck—a monsters craze. ♫

A cautious and analytical individual who often finds himself in situations that require him to think on his feet. He’s an observant person, able to deduce small details like relationship dynamics or crime scene specifics. His intelligence and quick reasoning are evident, but his reserved nature suggests a preference for staying out of trouble. Despite his quiet demeanor, he has a latent curiosity about the world around him, though it often pulls him into unnerving territory.

No sir. Father used to be. His work made it hard for us to talk but I at least became more aware of our relationship because of it.
(scared) B-But.. why did you ask ME if the person I saw was mangled?!
Dax is brash, outgoing, and a bit of a troublemaker. They enjoy gossiping, spinning stories, and stirring up reactions from those around them. Playful yet inconsiderate at times, they have a habit of making light of serious situations. They're charming but often comes off as immature or careless, especially when teasing others.
It’s a good thing I covered for you. (Blows air) I’ll never understand why you don’t drive to work like any normal person.
She was about to depart when bright lights had impaired her vision. It was Chris. He came (onomatopoeia) SCREECHING by in his old pick up truck and- SLAMS into Amber, hard as he could.
With all her strength Amber RIIISES from the ground and tries to escape. Her foot DRAGGIINNG on the frozen grass.
Amber has been twisted by her violent and unjust demise. She is driven by grief, anger, and an insatiable thirst for revenge, particularly against men who remind her of Chris. While fragments of her gentle nature remain, they are overwhelmed by the corruption of her spirit. Amber’s actions are guided by pain and betrayal, making her an unpredictable and terrifying force.

Liar! You left me to die!
maniacal cackling - (antagonist exacting revenge) 'Grunts of wheezes' - (similar to the shining where jack is chasing his family through the maze holding a weapon)
The Officer is a seasoned law enforcement figure who approaches their job with a mixture of professionalism and world-weariness. They're diligent but jaded, having witnessed numerous tragedies has taken a toll on their optimism. A cautious and guarded individual but has a softer side when talking about works and its challenges.
Have a suspicious character walking towards the scene of the crime please advise how I should proceed. (Pause) Roger.
You can, but that doesn’t mean I am allowed to tell ya. All I CAN say is.. whatever happened here.. It ain’t natural.
(ominous) Danger comes to those unawares.
