Don't Look Back Audiodrama
Project Overview
Don't Look Back is a Wes Anderson style coming-of-age story set in the 1960's, during the middle of the Cold War between the USA and the USSR (Soviet Union). The two countries seem to be on the brink of nuclear war, which would bring about M.A.D (mutually assured destruction), destroying both the USA and the USSR. Nancy Albright, a sixteen year old girl decides to run away with her lifelong crush one night, determined to experience life before the governments end it. Together, the two of them travel around the USA, stumbling through numerous historical events as they experience life on their own for the first time.
Don't Look Back is set to be distributed on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Pandora, YouTube, PocketCasts, CastBox, iHeart Radio, and many other platforms.

Welcome to the team and congratulations! You are the very first member of the audiodrama to be cast. An invitation will be sent to your Discord, where further details can be discussed.
A curly auburn haired teenager, obsessed with the benefits of independence and Alan Greenwood, her neighbor and lifelong crush. An American SOFT/SUBTLE (not over the top) southern accent is preferred, but you are welcome to try different regional American accents. Keep in mind you will have to be able to convey a range of emotions in this role, so choose an accent you can be versatile in.
We've spent our whole lives learning how to work so that we can be happy one day. If they're going to kill us all anyway, why shouldn't we be happy while we can?
C'mon, don't be such a square. What's the worst that could happen, she grounds you? You're basically in a constant state of groundament. Groundedation. Hmm, what would you even call that?
I brought my music collection. Say, have you ever heard of the Bobby Fuller Four?
A rather shy sixteen year old boy with a troubled past. He has an abusive mother and never knew his father. An American accent is necessary, but you are welcome to try different regional American accents. Keep in mind you will have to be able to convey a range of emotions in this role, so choose an accent you can be versatile in.
I'm not good at being social at the post office, how do you expect me to go into there?
Why are you always so nice to me?
I mean... I love her, she's my mom. I think she thinks what she's doing is best for me, even if it isn't. She wouldn't do something to hurt me without a good reason.
An American accent is necessary, but you are welcome to try different regional American accents. If you would like to try impressions of famous narrators, such as Alec Baldwin, you are more than welcome to do so.
Disclaimer: These lines will not be in the audiodrama, they are simply to gauge your level of narration. These following lines belong to the owners of the film The Royal Tenenbaums.
Royal Tenenbaum bought the house on
Archer Avenue in the winter of his
thirty-fifth year. Over the next decade, he and his wife
had three children and then they
separated. They were never legally divorced. Etheline Tenenbaum kept the house and
raised the children, and their education
was her highest priority.Chas (Pronounced CH-AZ) Tenenbaum had, since elementary
school, taken most of his meals in his
room, standing up at his desk with a cup
of coffee, to save time. In the sixth grade, he went into
business, breeding dalmation mice, which
he sold to a pet shop in Little Tokyo. He started buying real estate in his
early teens and seemed to have an almost
preternatural understanding of
international finance.Richie Tenenbaum had been a champion
tennis player since the third grade. He turned pro at seventeen and won the
U.S. Nationals three years in a row. He kept a studio in the corner of the
ballroom but had failed to develop as a
painter.
An abusive mother, often berates or attacks her son, Alan Greenwood. An American accent is necessary, but you are welcome to try different regional American accents. Keep in mind you will have to be able to convey a range of emotions in this role, so choose an accent you can be versatile in. Make sure you are able to yell or shout and are comfortable with cursing.
You're a child. You don't have any rights.
I don't know why I even bother to feed you anymore.
I'll bet he kidnapped her. He's not right in the head, something's always been wrong with him. I don't like to talk about it, but he's very abusive.
John Albright is the overbearing father of the rebellious Nancy Albright, a a particularly stern man who is prone to shouting. If possible, a J.K. Simmons or Bill Murray impression would be absolutely perfect for the role. Otherwise, an American accent is necessary, but you are welcome to try different regional American accents. Keep in mind you will have to be able to convey a range of emotions in this role, so choose an accent you can be versatile in. Make sure you are comfortable with shouting and cursing.
Rebecca, have you seen my daughter?
I swear, that girl will be the death of me.
I think our best option is to call the police, see what Accardi can do. She's got my car, so he should be able to track them down.
Preferred portrayal similar to Anjelica Houston’s performance in this excerpt:

Nancy Albright’s mother, a devout atheist, and hopelessly bored.
You know that I’ve never really cared one way or the other.
She’ll be fine. Maybe this is what she needs, to get away from her parents and find herself. Everyone goes through that, especially at her age. Besides, it was getting expensive to pay for all the food she was devouring.
I don’t have time for this.
A grizzled but kind hearted policeman who tries his best to seem firm and unforgiving. He's tasked with tracking down the two runaways and bringing them home. A Josh Brolin or Nick Offerman impression would be amazing if possible. An American accent is necessary, but you are welcome to try different regional American accents. Keep in mind you will have to be able to convey a range of emotions in this role, so choose an accent you can be versatile in.
(Speaking into telephone) Bill, I've tracked them down to the Charleston River, they pulled into Winston's Barbecue in their teal van and they've been in there for about an hour.
(Shouts) I know you're in there!
(Mutters under his breath) Damn it, they're gone.
A solid JFK impression is required for this role, as we will be using both historical footage and newly recorded footage. This will be a bigger role than a simple cameo.
My fellow Americans, we must come together in a strenuous time.
There was an attempt on my life, but those bastards were stopped by a brave American citizen. I have previously said; 'Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.' This young man is the very embodiment of a true American.
Stay strong, and remember. We will prevail!
An undercover spy for the Soviet Union. Both an American and Russian accent are necessary.
(American) Welcome to our humble abode.
(Russian) Get them out of here!
(American) And who might you be?
An undercover Soviet Union spy, Edward Pitt's wife. American and Russian accent are needed.
(American) Hello, how are you doing?
(Russian) Timur, they're here!
(American) Have a lovely day!
A popular newscaster who pops up several times throughout the audiodrama, speaking about historical events and occasionally providing exposition. A George Clooney impression would be amazing if possible. An American accent is necessary, but you are welcome to try different regional American accents.
Welcome back to the National News Hour, I'm your host, John Warden.
The talk of the town today is the attempted assassination of President Kennedy this morning. The would-be shooters had positioned themselves behind a grassy knoll and were apprehended by highly trained officials.
That's all for tonight, thanks for tuning in. This is John Warden, signing out.
The head of the audio team, who will oversee and work on the sound editing for the audio drama. Audio tracks that will be added will include music, footsteps, cars, horns, sirens, clinking glass and various other sound effects.
