Project Overview

From Darker Truths in Strange Fiction Studios comes a tale of 5 people whose lives become intertwined: two boys, two police officers, and a murderer/stalker. The audio drama will follow the lives of each of these characters separately throughout the course of 9 months.
Due to its horrific nature, the production has a handful of requirements for the cast and crew:

  • any VA must be 16 years of age or older to work with us without parental consent. However, due to the young characters in this story, we will accept those from 12-15 ONLY with PARENT/GUARDIAN consent. These youth will also not be permanent members of the crew and will be forced to audition as a public follower in future projects.
  • you will be working with a large number of people, meaning that you must be able to be mature enough to handle that AND turn in lines on time since a group is counting on your responsibility. We will NOT tolerate late lines without former notice, and you will be kicked from the project and studio immediately if lines are not submitted timely. Also, if you notify us of a possible delay, we may remove you from the project, but you will not be kicked from the studio.
  • we highly recommend you have discord. Everything that we do is connected through discord, so if you choose to work on the project solely through email, you may get delayed updates.
  • please have previous experience with acting and/or voice acting before auditioning. This isn't a project for novices and requires much effort and talent.

    Over 80 auditions! Wow! Thank you to everyone who took the time to audition. Everyone at the studio is so appreciative of the attention this project has gotten. That being said, we cannot accept everyone who submitted an audition. As voice actor Jack Angel said, you are never rejected; someone else was just selected. That means you’re one step closer to your big break. Have patience and be willing to learn, and soon your chance will come. We will have results within the next week. If you are not chosen, you still have a chance to be a part of this project and future projects. We have multiple casting calls coming out in the next few months, and we always need extras. The stalker and later murderer of this  story. He is in his 40s or 50s, homeless, and lost his wife in childbirth. The infant did not survive either. His demeanor is quite awkward, while determined as well. He has undiagnosed schizophrenia and mania.

  • (narrated) They’ll come in twos and when they do..it..it..it will spell DISASTER! I know that they are coming, for I have seen THEIR faces.

Older of the two boys. He is 13 years old (8th grade) and outgoing. He’s friendly and mature for his age. He is mixed raced. (African American and caucasian)

  • (voice raised) You up, sleepyhead? Can’t miss the first day of school.

  • If you don’t pick up the pace, we will most certainly be late because we’ll miss the train. You’re okay with taking the train to school, right? It’s a new thing for you, but it’s sooo cool.

Police Captain - male, early 40s, white

Homeless Person 1 - female, Caucasian, 30s, deeper voice, rough from either yelling or lots of smoking, or both.

Homeless Person 2 - male, African American, 40s, soft gravelly voice, a voice of reason

Homeless Person 3 - female, African American, 20s, rough around the edges, picking a lot of fights (causes the first disturbance at the train, and a few others that Officer Reyes responds to)
