Chrono Trigger Fandub {Main Characters}

Chrono Trigger Fandub {Main Characters}

Project Overview

Important: This casting call is not ending until March 15th, 2017. I can not set the time that far ahead, due to not being a gold member. I'll be changing the time as necessary to keep the casting call active though. :)

Also something went wonky before I put the page up? and it reversed the order of all the characters on this page... XD so the player characters are at the bottom....? sorry about that...

Welcome, welcome!

As the title suggests, this is for a Fandub of Chrono Trigger! The game beloved by all <3

This page specifically, will have casting for the main characters;

Crono, Marle, Lucca, Frog, Robo, Ayla and Magus.

The royals;

Queen Zeal, Janus, Schala, Kino, Queen Leene, King Guardia XXXIII/XXI and Doan.

The Gurus;

Gaspar, Melchior and Belthasar.

And also Lavos! While Lavos didn't have lines in the game, we will be adding some! Yayyy! XD

There is another page, for the minor characters, which you can find here:https://www.castingcall.club/projects/chrono-trigger-fandub-minor-characters

Some things to know about auditioning for this dub!

General things you need!

We'd like to have good quality audio! It doesn't need to be perfect or incredibly professional, but the better the quality audio, the better it'll be for your chances to get chosen

Be dedicated! I'm not sure how often we'll be doing the episodes. But I will likely have the entire game recorded before the casting is actually done, so be prepared for that! (also please stick with it! ; w ; I don't want to have to cast a new Marle every few episodes, or have one person voice Queen Zeal all the way through then leave right before the finale! D: I understand things come up, but please try to stay with us for the run!)

Be punctual! When I give a deadline for lines, I'd like it to be followed. A day or two late is usually fine, but a week late or more and I might have to re-cast, no hard feelings, I just need to make sure we can get these out in a relatively timely manner! (I'm really understanding when extensions are needed, so just let me know if you need one! Just don't never talk to me again if you're dropping out, ya know? I had someone do that for my Xenosaga abridged and it was not fun to deal with. :/ Had to recast and the first episode was delayed by a lot.)

Have skype! This is an optional point, but getting to know the other actors/actresses, talk things through, maybe even do read-throughs of parts of the script together! It can all help a lot with your acting! Also it's always fun to make friends! If you don't have skype though, at least have an e-mail that I can contact you with, so I can get lines from you and such! :) I also have discord, if that's easier for you than skype or e-mail?

Have fun! Last but not least... If you don't think you'll enjoy this for whatever reason, I'd rather not have an audition. ; n ; this isn't professional by any means, and you won't be getting paid, so why not just have some fun with it! Me and my crew are having loads of fun already! :D Hopefully you will, too!

Voice Actor
Marle (as well as Queen Leene)
closed
Unpaid
Role assigned to: marichu miso

Marle is a fiery princess who cares little for titles and formalities, much prefering to take to a disguise and join the common folk. She comes from a long line of strong leaders and while she can be a little hot-headed, she is fit to be queen when her time comes.

Tone: Medium to medium-high. Authoritive at times, whiny at others, though most of the time, very sweet. This role needs a lot of ability to show emotion, as Marle is possibly the most emotive in the game.

Whoever is cast for this role, will also voice Queen Leene.

  • (Marle) S-something's wrong!! W-what's happening?! It feels like I'm being torn apart! Help me, Crono! I'm scared!! Please... Crono... h-help me! (terrified scream)

  • (Marle) I'm Princess Nadia, my father is King Guardia XXXIII. I really enjoyed being with you at the fair. But if you had known my identity... Crono, you wouldn't have shown me around the fair, right?

  • (Leene) Your timing was perfect. Who knows what would have happened had you not saved me!

Voice Actor
Magus

Role assigned to: klutch

Magus is a powerful wizard who rules over the monsters in 600 AD. He is a misunderstood man, though it's mostly due to him not truly showing his better side. He was separated from his sister, who he presumed to be dead shortly after this, and was raised from a young age, by these monsters who now praise him. His life-long goal was to find his sister, and get revenge on Lavos for destroying his family.

Tone: Medium-low to low. His voice should be dark, yet hold a hidden gentleness that can come out later, or when he's around Schala. It should hold power to be feared, but be able to show vulnerability where his sister is concerned.

  • I never imagined that we would settle our score in this dusty old era. Come, let us finish this charade!

  • The black wind begins to blow... Okay... Give me your best shot... If you're prepared for the void!

  • Bad timing...! Don't wake up on me now..! You fools! I only summoned him! He lives in the inner earth, absorbing the land's power and growing ever stronger!

Lucca

Role assigned to: ayreth

Lucca is the brains of our main cast. She's incredibly smart and creative, always inventing new things with her father, such as the Telepod, meant to teleport people from one location to another, becomes a time machine thanks to the interference of Marle's pendant. She fixes Robo, and figures out much information needed, using technology from a time 1300 years in the future to her own time, with relative ease.

Tone: Medium. From calm to eccentric, Lucca can be a bit sassy at times, but most times is just excited about new information or technology around her, always wanting to learn new things. She's also a little egotistical at times, and isn't humble at all if she's complimented

  • (breathing heavily, she's run quite a long distance) ... You're okay! Did you find the girl? ... GONE?! Whatdd'ya mean she's gone?!

  • I call this thing a "gate". It's a kind of portal, that takes you to the same location in a different era. Gates are very unstable, so I used the principal behind my Telepod device... To create a "Gate Key". Now we can use them as we please.

  • It appears to be in bad shape... But it appears to be a humanoid robot! Incredible! ... I think I can fix it!

Robo

Role assigned to: Joe Goffeney

Robo was created to assist humans in the Proto Dome over a thousand years into the future from where Crono, Marle and Lucca live. He is designed to be humanoid, and after Lucca repairs him, he begins to show he is much more than just another robot. He's able to show human emotion to an extent, and wishes to help his new friends save all times, bringing a peace to his desolate future.

Tone: Medium. Robo should be slightly robotic, but only slightly. As he shows human emotion, he also shows a slightly human speech pattern through the game. This said, I don't want his words to flow quite as well as the human characters, but not so choppy he sounds like something from a 90's answering machine. He's from 2300 AD, remember.

  • What... What has happened here? There WERE many humans and others of my kind in this dome.

  • Emergency! Security system has gone haywire. Must escape immediately!

  • Th...These are my friends! R-64Y, R-67Y, and R-69Y! Good to see you! Wh-what are you doing?!

Frog

Role assigned to: capt_eagle

Frog was once an ambitious young man who looked up to the renouned knight, Cyrus. He learned the art of swordplay early on, and became a knight to follow in Cyrus' footsteps, after his untimely death. Often driven by his need to avenge his dear friend and mentor, Frog seeks after Magus through the majority of the story, to get revenge, in hopes that he can at last find peace for himself, and let his friend rest the same...

Tone: Medium to medium-low. Frog is a very well-spoken young man and can sometimes let his emotions get the better of them. There are many points in the game where he is downright depressed.

If you can add some ribbits or croaks to the end of your audition as well, that'd be grand. he does those sometimes as reaction sounds, and while I adore his ingame sound, if I could get one from the VA at some points, it'd be great! ^^ Accent is also up to interpretation.

  • Thou'rt here to save the Queen? The lair is deep within. Will thee accompany me?

  • T'is thee, Crono! Thou art here to practice thy skill in swordplay?

  • The legendary Masamune is required to fight Magus... and I've no right to wield it. Please leave now...

Belthasar

Role assigned to: the-bog-trotter

Belthasar is the Guru of Reason. Intelligent beyond all, he built the Blackbird, Ocean Palace and Epoch. He was sent to the future by Queen Zeal after the Mammon Machine's activation and summoning of Lavos, it was here, that he tied his consciousness, memories and ability into a Nu, so he could continue his work, and help Crono and the others save the world from the future he was sent to live in.

Tone: Medium. He should be a fairly jolly sounding old man. Kind and excitable about his creations and experiments. He is serious when needed.

  • Scared you, didn't I? It's me, Belthasar! I copied my memories into this thing. What do you think?

  • NO! You must not climb death peak! Wouldn't make it very far anyway! It has to be the right time.. and.. THEY...have to show you the way!

  • Did you see my masterpieces? The Ocean Palace and the Blackbird? I designed and built them both.

Doan

Role assigned to: poultergeist0

Doan is a weak and frail old man, who lives in 2300 BC. A desolate time of ruin, after Lavos's reign of terror a few hundred years prior. Humanity seems to have little hope of survival in this time, as all greenery and wildlife has died and food is scarce. He is tasked with leading a dying people, which in itself, takes it's toll on him as more time passes, and more people die around him. Meeting Crono and the others brings hope to him, as he's not used to seeing such a strong will in youth.

Tone: Medium. His tone should sound weak, as though he is simply clinging to his life for the sake of others. He needs to lead the people so that they do not lose their own hope, and his will restores after meeting Crono and the others, though his body and mind are still worn.

  • So there ARE people who can beat up those freaky mutants...

  • Pardon me. I'm Doan. I'm the descendant of the Director of this Info Center. In the basement, there's a huge computer and a storage center for food. but we can't get through because of the robot guards. It's a pity.

  • It's nice to see such spirited young people, for a change. Careful now, and come back alive!

Gaspar

Role assigned to: poultergeist0

Gaspar is the Guru of Time. Wise and kind he guards The End of Time; a place where all times cross. Sent there by Queen Zeal after the Mammon Machine's activation and the summoning of Lavos, it was more of a curse than the other two Gurus were left with. Left to live alone in darkness for all time, only occasionally seeing others crossing through time, winding up at The End of Time for a short while, leading them in the right direction to get back to their own time.

Tone: Medium. I feel Gaspar should have a bit of a grumpy grandfather sort of tone. While he's kind and helpful, you'd be grumpy too, if you were left to live out your days in nothingness, right? Especially once you realize you'd never die there...

  • Ah, more guests...! Why, this is "The End of Time," of course! All lost travelers in time wind up here! Now, where are you from?

  • When four or more beings step into a time warp, the Conservation of Time theorem states that they will turn up at the space-time coordinates of least resistance... Here.

  • Disturbances in the space-time continuum have increased recently. Far too many folks are just popping in here... I fear something is having a powerful effect on the very fabric of time...

Melchior

Role assigned to: poultergeist0

Melchior is the Guru of Life. Aware and loving, he has the means of repairing the Masamune. An ancient blade forged from Dreamstone, with the ability to defeat the most powerful of sorcery. He is helpful to Crono and the others in many ways throughout the story, though the most important is when he does repair the Masamune for Frog to wield. In the end, it leads them back to 12000 BC, where they are capable of saving the future and past alike.

Tone: Medium. I feel he should have a bit of a bland tone, as if he doesn't exactly enjoy 1000 AD, but doesn't hate it either. Happy to be away from Queen Zeal, sad to be away from the Kingdom Zeal itself, and it's people. Not emotionless, but his emotions are at odds with eachother, leaving him in a slightly apathetic state. He is wise, and aware of all actions being taken, so when he gives warnings, they are genuine. These should not be quite as apathetic as what all else he says.

  • Weapons... If there weren't evil in this world, there would be no need for weapons.

  • Hmmmm... It might be possible if we could get our hands on some Dreamstone, which the sword is made of.

  • This weapon represents considerable power... Your actions may either save or destroy life. Wield your sword with full knowledge of the consequences!

Ayla

Role assigned to: SeterraVA

Ayla is the chief of Ioka village, in 65 000 000 BC. She is tasked with fighting along side her people, leading them, and defeating the Reptites so that they do not fall as a race, making humans become an extinct species. She enjoys food and drinking(alcohol), and is open with her thoughts and emotions to others, making her trustworthy, but at times a little awkward to be around.

Tone: Medium-low to Low. Ayla should have a certain roughness to her voice, that shows her hardships and strength. It's not to say she does not have a softer side, as she often shows others an unrivaled kindness, but her strength comes before all.

  • Me Ayla. Ayla like strong people. So Ayla like Crono! You strong too. Ayla respect strong people. Men and women.

  • Come to village! We talk and eat. Dance! Eat! Fun!! Crono come! Ioka Village this way!

  • Ayla fight Reptites. Their leader Azala. Very smart. All in Ioka village fight. No fight, go to Laruba village. Don't know where village is. Always hide. Azala want to destroy Ioka AND Laruba. Ayla no lose. Only when Ayla dead, give up!

Schala is the young princess of the Kingdom Zeal. She possesses immense magical power, even as Enlightened Ones go. She is willing to put herself on the line to save all the others, appeasing her mother's need for power, to try and protect her brother, though in the end, she fails this task, as he often feels he has in protecting her.

Tone: Medium to medium-high. Her voice should be calm, soft, and a little airy(not to a disrespectful extent, but a tone that helps to keep others calm.... Soothing. That's the word I was looking for... soothing.)

  • Oh, you're back Janus! Is something wrong? ...You feel it too..? Don't worry, it'll be alright.

  • Now hold onto this. It's a kind of amulet. If something should happen, it'll protect you. I wish I could be with you always... But mother has other plans.

  • Stop degrading yourselves! We Enlightened Ones were once the same as you. The only difference is that we are under Lavos's control...

Queen Zeal

Role assigned to: inrezairo

Queen Zeal is presumed to have once been a very loving mother to Schala and Janus, as well as a good ruler to the people of Kingdom Zeal. Though after the completion of the Mammon Machine, she gave herself to the will of Lavos, making her merciless. A ruthless ruler and intollerant mother. She often punishes those who disobey her with death, and once Lavos is summoned, she gives herself and her power to him completely.

Tone: Medium-low. She has no tollerance for those who would disobey her, and will sooner talk down to someone than accept them as being even close to on her level, the only one worthy of praise, being Lavos. She should sound evil. Not dark, but evil. A little psychotic, if you can manage. She's completely lost her mind thanks to the Mammon Machine, and I need that to come across quite clearly.

  • Don't stop now! Immortality will be ours! Zeal will have the glory it deserves! Mwa ha ha! Too long have I waited...!

  • Mwa ha ha... Fear not! You won't die... immediately, that is! By the time we're through with you, you'll be begging us to end your suffering.

  • Schala, raise the power of the Mammon Machine to it's limit! ... Schala! You dare to disobey me?! ... Oh what bright splendor! The incredible power of Lavos!!!

Role assigned to: robdaboss72

Crono is our Silent Protagonist, fated with restoring peace throughout the timeline by stopping Lavos, along side his allies.

While he didn't have lines in the game except in one ending, we will be adding in some sounds for him for interactions with others, as well as battle sounds!

Tone: Medium, soft but strong..? Not sure what to put as more detail on this one since it's mostly just sounds XD

  • some sounds, such as grunts, fighting noises, sleeping noises, other little things.

  • What ARE you two doing?! I thought you said something about a nice little slide show?

  • How about into the "now"?!

Voice Actor
Kino

Role assigned to: soulgig

Like Ayla, Kino hails from the prehistoric era of 65 000 000 BC. He is acting chief when Ayla is not in Ioka village, yet often doubts his ability. His jealousy of Crono is expressed often when Ayla is involved, often thinking that Ayla likes Crono more than him. This issue is later solved, and he then aspires to be more like Crono, strong and brave, so he might be worthy of Ayla, though in her own mind, he already is.

Tone: Medium to medium-low. Kino should sound kind-hearted, albeit a bit jealous. He should always speak with love and sincere apologies to Ayla. Like Ayla, he is very open about his thoughts and emotions.

  • Ayla... Kino take Crono stuff. Kino like Ayla best. Ayla like Crono but Kino not like...

  • No have, reptites take. Run into trees, there!

  • Sorry, Crono. I try be strong now. Just like Crono!

Role assigned to: klutch

King Guardia XXI is a loving husband to his beloved wife, Queen Leene, showing great concern for her when she goes missing, and even after Marle is brought to take her place, though is aware of the differences between his wife, and their descendant, so he still shows some concern while she is there.

King Guardia XXXIII is a strict father, who just wants the best for his daughter, Marle. After the loss of his wife, he wants to simply protect her, though it often turns into him being much too hard on her.

Tone: Medium-low. Regal and authorative.

  • (XXI) I understand that you are the one who saved my dear wife, the Queen!

  • (XXI) Thank goodness you're safe!! You may resemble Leene, but you sure don't act like her!

  • (XXXIII) That's enough my dear. All I asked was that you behave like a princess. Even royalty must obey rules. Leave the rest up to the Chancellor and forget about the events in town.

Role assigned to: Angelina Nicole

Janus is the young prince of Zeal. He has a sense of magic, thanks to being raised as an Enlightened One, and has a strong attachment to his elder sister, Schala. Janus is young Magus. While he has not truly realised his magical potential at this point, he is still strong, but it is mostly in sense at this point.

Tone: Medium(?), young boy. He is a bit ominous at times, and a little creepy with some of the things he says, often coming off as rude toward the party, as they're outsiders and he's more concerned with his sister, than anything they have to say.

  • The black wind howls... One among you... Will shortly perish.

  • She's NOT our mother! She looks like mother, but inside she has changed.

  • Hmph! Idiots... What will you do, Schala?

Lavos (Core and final form)

Role assigned to: deleted37515

Lavos is a being that came in prehistoric times, and bore it's way into the earth, "sleeping" for millions of years, gaining more energy, slowly drinking it from the planet itself, so that one day, "The Day of Lavos" would come, in the year 1999 AD. On this day, he would have enough power to eradicate humanity, though he is summoned early, in the year 12 000 BC, and takes the opportunity to control the Queen Zeal in her crazed and vulnerable state after the Mammon Machine's activation, and uses her as a protector of sorts until he has enough power of his own.

  • Improv some things. I will be writing a full script for his fight, but for now...

  • Things like "Is that the best you can do?" or "Do you really think you can defeat the very world's energy?"

  • "Long have I awaited this day. The day where I shall rise, and existence itself will fall to my power."
