Note: This is a no-budget project. We will not be able to compensate actors beyond crediting and social-media shout outs.
Paella is a 5-episode animated comedy that is entering its second episode. This production is a part of the Chop 2 The Top OCT competition. The story follows Ducky, an amature detective in search of an ancient treasure, the Golden Paella. This treasure is said to be locked in the legendary Tower of Gobble, the holy land for all things food and cooking. Ducky must climb the unique floors of the tower and complete wacky food-related challenges in order to finally solve the mystery, as well as find her friend who disappeared looking for it.
The story will be told in 5-10 minute episodes, with a 2 month gap between each installment. If you don't fit any of the current characters, be sure to check back before the next installment to audition again.
Auditioners must be available to voice their characters until the end of July 2022, when the final episode premieres.
Auditions close March 13th.
Recording will begin immediately after and lines will need to be completed by March 20th.
Episode summary: In the newest episode of Paella, Ducky and Giri must travel the snow-covered wasteland in search of the next floor of the tower. In order to find their way, they must partner with Jethro, a shapeshifting being who has lost his partner. As they help him reunite with his friend, Ducky wonders if she'll ever find her own friends again.

A nervous older man who has been cursed to transform into animals his whole life. Jethro can be seen shapeshifting into different creatures, anything from a snail to a dragon to a human child, but he cannot control when or what he changes into. Because of his constant shifting, Jethro is constantly paranoid and nervous, and is often unwilling to help others due to his fragile nature. This begins to cause problems when Ducky enlists his help in climbing the tower.
Tone: Nervous, well spoken, mature, paranoid
(pouting, stressed)
"Oh my life, my life is ruined. I've lost track of my partner and now I'll never get to the next floor of the tower!"
(stressed)
"We have to get out of here! I'm sorry, I just can't risk getting hurt, I can't save you guys!"
(coming clean, upset)
"You're right, I tricked you. I was just too scared, I'm not strong like you, there was no way I could get up the mountain myself, I just couldn't risk going into a dangerous situation like that. I had to trick you."
The devious and quirky guardian of the second floor. Fondae is an eccentric witch that uses her powers to not only guide travelers through the tower, but to cause as much mischief and chaos as she can. While many call her crazy, there's a method to her madness, and that method is eating as much sweet candies as possible. In order to reach the next floor, Ducky and friends must give Fondae a dessert worthy of a queen.
Tone: Devious, nasally, happy-go-lucky, suspicious
(Announcing, devious)
"Alright my pretties, you're in my realm now, which means the only way to reach the next floor of the tower is to make me the sweetest, most delicious, chocolate coated dessert I've ever had. If it's not absolutely scrumptious, then I might just have to eat you instead."
(annoyed)
"You want me to just tell you where your friend went? I'm a witch, not a fairy godmother! Either give me something worth trading, or go figure the problem out yourself."
(happy)
"Well well, looks like you've managed to impress me, I guess I'll help you find your friend. In fact, they're right over there!"
