CANDY | Sims 4 Machinima Series

Project Overview

Hi! Welcome to the casting call for CANDY. I'm excited to announce that I can finally take this project further, as I've been waiting to do so since 2018!


As of writing this, I’m somewhere in the middle of filming episode 1, and now I'm counting on receiving enough auditions to proceed with further production. The series will be posted on YouTube, and sneak peeks will also be published on Twitter and Instagram. It will be filmed using Sims 4, and I may also use Blender for certain scenes.


I'm not hiding the fact that I began CANDY mostly to learn how to film in Sims 4 and to practice my writing, therefore, I don't plan to focus entirely on this project. I've been thinking of resuming an old series of mine that will be my main focus. As a person with limited free time and some health problems, I can't promise that 'CANDY' will be a regularly published series, however, I will do my best to keep you updated on my project from time to time.


Synopsis: In the quiet town of Blossom Creek, the enigmatic and a bit chaotic Candy arrives at a new high school, only to discover that her former summer love, Ji Eun, who heartlessly broke up with her through a text message, is now an intern there. Their reunion coincides with a wave of murders, gang riots, and kidnappings. Together, they must navigate the chaos of their personal lives while unraveling the mysteries that threaten to shatter their beloved town and its surroundings.


Genre: mystery, drama, romance


Important: The series includes sensitive topics such as violence, murder, partial nudity, mental illnesses, drug and alcohol abuse, overdosing, sex scenes (not too explicit) and heavy swearing. If you find any of those topics triggering, this project may not be for you. (UPDATE: I will strive to make this series as much YouTube-policy friendly as possible to avoid any issues and the possibility of the video being blocked, so I will ensure that the episodes ultimately are not 'R' rated.)

Rules:

-Clear audio: Be sure to denoise your audio before sending the audition. I’m okay with auditions recorded with smartphones as long as the quality is good.


-Show emotions: I kindly request that you do not send auditions where you simply read the lines. It's not what I'm looking for. Be prepared that in some roles you will have to scream.


-I DO NOT work with homophobes, racists, transphobes, etc. so if you’re not okay with LGBTQ+ content and POC characters, DO NOT audition.


-Once you’re cast, stick to the deadline. I usually give 1-2 months to record all needed lines and I’m okay with extensions, but if you decide to ghost me, I will be forced to find a replacement.


-Repeat each line 2-3 times


-You can change lines a bit if you feel they will sound better.


-Take time to read the character’s descriptions so you could be able to portray them more realistically.


-The most important one - have fun! I’m doing this project for fun and I’m hoping that I can give you some nice characters to play:)

  • Update on Beverly role

    Hello everyone!

    I removed the role of Beverly from the casting call, as I ended up excluding her from the first episode. She will probably make her appearance in later episodes, but since creating a Sims machinima is a time-consuming process, and I don't know how much time it will take me to film another episode, I decided to hold off on casting anyone as Beverly to avoid confusion. If you've already recorded your audition for that role, sorry for the inconvenience. I encourage you to audition for other roles from that casting call. General info: Candy is a nineteen-year-old girl living in the small town of Blossom Creek (California, USA) with her parents - Maria and Christopher. Due to mysterious circumstances, she changed high school and is repeating a year. Candy has strong relationships with her parents and her grandma Arabella. Her biggest dream is to become an actress, and she currently participates in various casting calls.


Backstory: Candy was born in Eastern Europe, where she spent twelve years of her life before moving to the US with her family. She has some Romani roots from her mother's side. In her first high school, Candy was mostly busy with drama club and cheerleading. She briefly dated her male classmate when she was sixteen before realizing that she preferred girls. When she turned eighteen, she met Ji Eun, and they quickly fell in love. Unfortunately, one day Ji Eun broke up with Candy via text message. Candy is still in love with her ex-girlfriend and silently wishes they could still be together.


Personality: Candy rarely shows her true self to the world. She often smiles and laughs in public, although she wishes she didn't have to do that. The girl tends to get lost in her thoughts and forget the reality that surrounds her. She's also spontaneous and can keep her cool in stressful moments.

She was married to Lucjan, the love of her life, for over thirty years before he died in dramatic circumstances. Currently, she is retired and looks forward to a peaceful life after her stressful youth and adult years. In the past, she was a leader of the mafia known as Madam Grand. She’s the owner of a small café.


Backstory: Arabella was born in Eastern Europe into an old-money family. Her father was a businessman and a traveler, and her mother was a famous dancer of Romani origin. Arabella didn't have the best relationship with her parents and eventually cut them off from her life when she was sixteen due to their non-acceptance of her boyfriend - Lucjan, who was from a working-class family. Arabella gave birth to her daughter, Maria, when she was only seventeen years old. Later, she married Lucjan and moved with him and their daughter to the US in pursuit of their American dream. The couple eventually joined the mafia to make a living.


Personality: Arabella is known for her high intelligence and ingenuity. During her years of illegal activity as a mafia member and later as a mafia leader, she was never proven guilty of any crimes. She knows how to navigate every situation skillfully. Unfortunately, she is often tormented by feelings of guilt and can't make peace with the past. She also hides a dark secret that only her close family knows about.

Ji Eun has recently graduated from university and is now in training to become a literature and theatre teacher.


Backstory: Since her childhood, Ji Eun's family wanted her to pursue acting, just like her mother, but she decided to choose a different career path. She did great in high school and decided to develop in the education field. In May, a year before the main plot's events, she met her first-ever girlfriend - Candy, but due to certain circumstances, their relationship ended quickly.


Personality: Ji Eun is sensitive and is not afraid to express her emotions when she feels distressed. She’s ambitious and easily adapts to new environments. Ji Eun is generally sociable, but she tends to withdraw from interactions with others when she feels overwhelmed. She has always been a romantic at heart, dreaming of true, movie-like love.

The girl’s parents are divorced, and she isn’t on good terms with her father, who rarely visits her. She has two best friends - Toby and Candy. Gemma has always been fascinated by books and enjoys writing stories in her free time. She struggles with anxiety and panic attacks.


Backstory: Gemma has always been quite independent and had to rely mostly on herself. She has spent her whole life in one town and during that time, she made lots of acquaintances, but only a few friends since she has always found it difficult to trust others.


Personality: Gemma is generally a sociable person, but she tends to withdraw when she is facing problems. She rarely asks for help. Her biggest strengths are confidence and protectiveness. Gemma notices things faster than others and has a strong intuition.

Currently, she lives with her grandmother in her parents' villa. She doesn't have a big family, so besides her grandma, she only has an uncle - Nicolas. She has two close friends, Clover and Saanvi, and a best friend Adam. Rory struggles with depression and anxiety caused by her parents' accident and her traumatic childhood. Rory has a boyfriend named Wells, and they have been together for four years, but during this time, their relationship turned out to be toxic. She’s been a cheerleader since the start of high school.


Backstory: Since her young years, Rory took part in various Little Miss competitions and worked as a model. Her parents were strict and wanted her to be the best at what she was doing; therefore, Rory learned to be self-critical and overly perfectionist.


Personality: To most people, Rory appears to be an impulsive and self-centered person. She's often engaged in quarrels and likes to draw attention to herself. Later, she feels guilty about her behavior and cries about it in her bed. Rory finds it hard to create meaningful relationships, but when she finally does, she will do everything to protect those she cares about.

Backstory: Toby had an almost carefree childhood, surrounded by a loving family. His parents' support and encouragement have shaped his love for learning, and his friendship with Gemma has been an integral part of his joyful childhood and teenage years.


Personality: Toby tends to be socially awkward and a bit shy. He feels most comfortable around familiar people, allowing him to be himself and open up. Other than that, he’s friendly, loyal, and gets easily excited.

Maria met her husband Christopher at university, where she began her art studies that she never finished.


Personality: In the past, Maria was known for being artistic, rebellious, and chaotic. Nowadays, she’s still definitely artistic but less rebellious and somewhat more organized and practical. She is a supportive mother to her daughter, encouraging her to pursue her dreams. Maria tends to get over-dramatic and verbally aggressive, a trait she may have inherited from her mother.

Clover is a talented musician. She can play piano, bass, and guitar as well as sing. Her closest friends are Rory and Saanvi, whom she often refers to as her sisters.


Backstory: Clover comes from a family with a long history of military service. Her mother has counted on her to follow that tradition, but that's not the girl's dream. Clover's true passion has always been making music, despite the opposition she faced from her mother.


Personality: Clover often acts as if she doesn't care about anything, but in reality, she's a sensitive person who wants to appear tough and unmoved to the world. It's what she's been taught at home. Clover doesn't seem affectionate at first, but when her friends are upset, she's the first person to rush to lift them up. When she has a bad day, she loses her temper and gets annoyed with people for no reason.

Backstory: Chris met his wife Maria at university. They quickly fell in love and got engaged. Unfortunately, Chris’ parents didn’t support the idea of them getting married since they wanted their son to get married to a “true American woman”. They made hurtful remarks to Maria, causing Chris to cut ties with his parents and move to Maria's birthplace in Eastern Europe.


Personality: Chris is usually quiet, calm, and cheerful. He avoids conflicts, but he won't stand still when someone offends his loved ones. In such situations, he undergoes a significant change and becomes assertive, voicing his anger. One of his negative traits is being a workaholic.

Backstory: Saanvi has never truly had a place she could call home due to her parents' frequent travels for work. The girl was mostly homeschooled and didn't have many friends. Her parents have always been oversensitive and had high expectations for their daughter. They have been judging her harshly all along.


Personality: The way Saanvi’s parents treated her made her insecure and reserved. She’s highly untrustful of others and often feels scared to talk to people she doesn’t know. Sometimes, she may bring people down to boost her own self-esteem. However, when Saanvi meets a person who is kind and patient with her, she is capable of forming a strong, unbreakable bond.

General info: Ho Sook is a forty-eight-year-old woman born in Seoul. She moved to the United States following her movie career. Soon, she met her future husband, with whom she had her daughter - Ji Eun. She plays the female lead character in the famous TV show “The Bad Guys Club” which made her quite recognizable in the US. In her private life, she struggles with her husband’s illegal activities as he’s the leader of a religious cult that went out of control. When she found out about what he did to their daughter, she decided to cut him out of her life completely.


Backstory: Ho Sook comes from a family that struggled with money for most of the time. Since she was a little girl, she wanted to become an actress. Finally, when she was eighteen years old, she decided to try her luck and audition for the Korean soap opera. Producers realized that she had a natural talent and decided to give her a chance, casting her as a recurring character. The audience loved her in that role, and soon Ho Sook gained recognition even outside of South Korea.


Personality: Ho Sook is a woman who knows her worth, and she won’t try to impress anyone at all costs. She’s decisive and brave. Some people may think that she’s a little too serious and difficult to get to, but Ho Sook has no problem sharing her true emotions with people she trusts. At times, she can be very soft and show her vulnerability.

General info: Nicolas is a fifty-six-year-old man born in Marbella, Spain, where he spent most of his life. He decided to move to the USA after his sister’s death to support his niece, Aurora. Nicolas is a police officer.


Backstory: Nicolas was born into a middle-class Spanish family. Since his early childhood, he was fascinated by criminal movies and wanted to work as a police officer; you could say he felt a real vocation for his job.
