ARTISTS NEEDED!!! | Blue Spring Ride Complete Manga Dub [RADIOPLAY PRODUCTION]

Project Overview

Synopsis

While most girls desire popularity among boys, Futaba Yoshioka wants the exact opposite. After attracting many admirers back in middle school which resulted in her being shunned by her female classmates, she decided that high school will be her chance to revamp her image. Therefore, she starts acting unfeminine and indifferent to boys, allowing her to make some “friends” along the way.

Little does Futaba know, her life will take another drastic turn when her first love, Kou Mabuchi, returns after his sudden disappearance years ago in middle school. Despite his extended absence, the fond memories they shared together still linger in her mind, and she wishes to return to those days. But she realizes that the sweet, gentle boy of the past has completely vanished, and in his place stands someone cold and pessimistic. While he admits that her feelings for him back then were mutual, he warns that they can never go back to the past, as everything, including him, has changed.

Ao Haru Ride follows Futaba as she searches for true love and friendship, all while trying her best to stay true to herself.

This project will be a full-fledge radio production of the complete Shoujo Romance series, "Blue Spring Ride."  Basically, bringing the manga to life, with voice acting, sound effects, music, etc.

Considering that the manga, already has had a 12-episode anime adaptation,  two OVAs, and even a live-action film, back in 2014 this will act as an unofficial dub version of the anime, minus animated visuals.

If auditioning, I highly suggest buying and reading the OFFICIAL VIZ Media translation of the popular manga series, if you do not already have the manga. At the time of writing this, the first 3 volumes, out of the 13, have been released, with volume 4 set to release on April 2, 2019. If you do not have the manga, or cannot afford it, fear not, for I have/will be writing a script adaptation of every chapter, from all the volumes.

This will be a VERY LONG project so when the actual episodes come out, they will be very few and far between, so be prepared.

And as for required equipment, AT THE VERY LEAST, YOU SHOULD HAVE A BLUE SNOWBALL!!!

Futaba Yoshioka (吉岡 双葉, Yoshioka Futaba) is the female protagonist of the Ao Haru Ride series. She is a 2nd year high school student whose first love is Tanaka Kou (Tanaka-kun), who is now known as Kou Mabuchi.

Personality: In high school, Futaba's character has drastically taken a turn. No longer feminine nor cute, she tries to make herself appear as unattractive as possible - walking in a not so feminine manner, eating lots of food and not caring about her physical look. The reason for this is that she had been outcasted in middle school by all of the girls due to favoritism from the boys. Determined to have friends in high school, she sacrifices her true, girly self for her classmates approval, even being best friends with girls who didn't really care about their friendship in the first place. After befriending Kou once again, along with Yuuri, Shuuko, and Aya, Futaba learned to live for herself and faces the world honestly. Futaba is strong-willed, stubborn, yet passionate and caring.

Futaba can be a little indecisive when it comes to what she should do about her feelings for Kou. She gets sort of irritated easily when she can't figure out how Kou feels or thinks. Despite Futaba's kindness, she can become uneasy either when Yuuri is trying to become very close with Kou, but mostly Kou and Narumi's relationship.Nonetheless Futaba has a great understanding of both people and situations including herself and a need to understand both things.In short, she is great at figuring people out. Being able to correctly analyse both Youri and her classmates feelings, Understanding that if she acts or doesn't act in certain situations the result would be bad as well as quickly coming to terms with the fact that Kou is still kind and sweet just more bitter from his recent experiences. She therefore becomes frustrated when she fails to understand a person or situation.

  • Whenever our eyes met, we would defintely look away for a moment, and then look at each other again.

  • No one's going to criticize you if you get excited for something, or laugh with all your heart! And if someone does, I'll beat them up!

  • I've been in love with someone who didn't love me back. I've been loved by someone that I didn't love back. But I don't know which is worse: to be broken, or to break another soul.

Kou Tanaka (田中 洸 Tanaka Kō) is the male protagonist of the Ao Haru Ride series. He is a 2nd year High School student whose first love is Futaba Yoshioka.

Personality: When Kou was younger he was very outgoing and kind, which made Futaba fall in love with him. After his mother's death and other issues he ran into, Kou changed, which was hard for Futaba to accept (it even took her a little while to call him by his new last name Mabuchi, because he wasn't Tanaka anymore). He is now more masculine, sarcastic, and rude. He can come off very harsh, even when he doesn't mean to, which sort of makes him hard to talk to (Aya sometimes helps Kou with clearing up quick misunderstandings of Kou personality with his own very happy and bubbly atmosphere). In addition, he has extremely pessimistic views about himself and about his brother. Despite these changes, it is evident that Kou is still an overall kind person.

At first, Futaba didn't like Kou's new personality, she found him very harsh and hard to understand but later falls in love with not "Tanaka Kou", but "Mabuchi Kou". Kou lightens up more around his new found friends such as Futaba, Aya, Yuri, and Shuko.

It is shown that after coming to terms with his true feelings for Yoshioka, he becomes a more happier, open person and starts to resemble his old self in middle school.

  • It came down... pretty suddenly, huh?

  • Things aren't like they were in those days. I'm different, you're different. Which means that's in the past.

  • It's not easy for me. I'm just half-baked. Maybe it looks easy for me because I don't care.

Yuri Makita (槙田 悠里 Makita Yūri) is a girl whose high school life is parallel to Futaba's middle school life. She is very cute, causing her to be despised by many girls in her class, and she is often left alone. Yuri gets by very well, however, for she prefers to be hated for who she truly is than to be liked for someone she isn't. Yuri and Futaba soon become best friends. She develops a crush on Kou after he helps her during a class leader's camp. Yuri greatly treasures her friendship with Futaba, but often gets jealous of Futaba's closeness with Kou. 

Personality: Yuri's personality is very cute, cuddly and innocent, which makes her loved by the guys but hated by the girls. Although she was alone at a period of time in her high school life, she accepted the fact that she's disliked. She first became close friends with Yoshioka, then Shuuko, Kou, and Aya, and is loved by all of them. Yuri tends to keep a smile in front of people (even when she's feeling down), for instance she answered so casually and pretended to be fine when Yoshioka stated she also likes Kou (but ends up going into the bathroom and crying). No matter how much she cries over Yoshioka and Kou's relationship, she doesn't let anything ruin her and Yoshioka friendship. Yuri also respects people's secrets, if she knows something that someone holds of value, she keeps quiet. Yuri might be very kind hearted, but she still has a jealous streak and can get somewhat annoyed by Toma.

  • If you say you hate me, that means you care what I'm doing, right? So... take that!

  • My cupcake... he will PAY!

  • Different people have different perspective. So, I won’t deny the fact that some people are annoyed with the way I am. In exchange for those negative feelings, I just want to be the person that I am in love with the most.

Shuko Murao (村尾 修子 Murao Shūko) is much like Yuri, another "lone wolf." She is very beautiful but has a cold exterior that drives others away. Due to experiences in middle school, Shuko fails to trust girls. She has been in love with Tanaka-sensei, Kou's older brother, since her first year of high school after attending a guidance session between the two of them. Eventually, her trust in female relationships was restored after becoming friends with Futaba and Yuri.

Personality: Shuko was always very quiet, because she didn't have any friends and had no trust in girls. She kept to herself and built a "wall" between her and everyone else. After meeting Tanaka-Sensei at a teacher and student meeting, he encouraged her to become more friendly. After talking to him more and learning little things about him, she fell in love with him. Although her feelings for Tanaka-sensei didn't change, her attitude towards others, especially girls, changed after meeting Yoshioka and Yuri. Shuko gives Yuri and Yoshioka a lot of advice about their Kou problems due to the fact that she's the "neutral party," as well as comforts them when they're down. She's still pretty calm but way more talkative and nice around her two new friends, but can get a little irritated when Kou is giving Tanaka-Sensei a hard time.

  • The feeling of not wanting to lose, everyone has it. If you find it unfair, you’ll have to work harder yourself.

  • If you still love her, I can't help that, but don't meddle with her half-heartedly. If you can suppress your feelings, then leave it.

Aya Kominato (小湊 亜耶 Kominato Aya) is outgoing and spontaneous, Aya seems to be the only character without social problems. He is very open, caring, and sometimes even dense. He has an unrequited crush on Shuko. Aya harbors a hatred for Tanaka-sensei, and initially did not like Kou due to his relation to him. He is good at Math. He is the only one Kou has told about his romantic feelings for Futaba Yoshioka.

Personality: Aya is someone who is both cheerful and friendly. He is also somewhat playful and sneaky as Kou stated that Aya bought some porn magazine at their first excursion. Kou describes Aya as a good person overall.

Description: Toma Kikuchi (菊池 冬馬, Kikuchi Tōma) is a boy in Futaba's year, making his first appearance later in the story. He is a 2nd year High School student and was previously going out with Futaba Yoshioka.

Personality: Touma is a very kind hearted person. Despite his appearance, Touma is just like any other guy in the sense that he is in fact very masculine. He can be shy at times, which exacerbates his heavy blushing, yet he changes when he is in front of a mic singing. Like anyone else, Touma can get upset (especially at Kou Mabuchi), but his best quality is the ability to speak his mind and his honesty.

He initially has a very bad impression of Futaba, during which she trips and ends up accidentally groping on him. However, he eventually softens up to her when he notices how remorseful she feels about the incident. Due to his earnest appearance, his intentions after often misunderstood, usually causing Kou to get jealous over his interaction with Futaba. His friends call him "Goodie-goodie" and "Hasabe" due to his strait-laced and honest behavior. He falls for Futaba's good nature and finds himself wishing that she would shift her affections onto him. Despite this he constantly supports her and gives her confidence.

  • Change can only arise from fluctuations, right? That's why going back and forth between confidence and weakness, if you're shifting then you're changing, I think. Like that, little by little, everyone is changing probably.

  • Facing forward like you do now, there is someone who says that Yoshioka, this way, is perfect. It's really no good unless I'm frank.

Yoichi Tanaka (田中 陽一 Tanaka Yōichi) is Kou Mabuchi's older brother by eight years. He works as an English teacher at Futaba's high school.

Tanaka is kind, but can be a bit emotional and childish. He's a responsible teacher and loving brother (yet wishes the love he shows for Kou could be reciprocated). The only times Tanaka becomes more serious is when Kou isn't doing well in school, or when Shuuko is trying her "sneaky" things on him. He also acts sort of sarcastic towards Aya.

  • Using that metaphor, this might be a situation where he forgot to make it with a doorknob at all, let alone a keyhole.

  • Your high school life will be over before you know it. There are things you can only do now. You should do as many of them as you can.

Yui Narumi (成海 唯 Narumi Yui) is a classmate of Kou from junior high. Her father was in the same hospital as Kou's mother. She was once a Genki Girl and popular at school until her father's death has left her very disillusioned. This event naturally brings her close to Kou, who has gone through the same experience, and threatened by his relationship to Futaba.

Personality: In middle school, Narumi appeared do be a very kind person, considering how nice and understanding she was to Kou. Narumi acts very hopeless around Kou, in order to get his sympathy so he would stay by her side. She feels as if Kou is all she has, so she acts selfish to the sense of keeping him to herself. 

Narumi can be very conniving, for instance she was trying to convince Futaba not to worry about the accidental kiss during the school festival, because Kou and her in fact also kissed (this was her attempt on trying to break Futaba away from Kou). She tried to fool Futaba with her fake personality, but later reveals her true self and lashes out when Futaba came to confront her about Kou.

  • I'm a junior high classmate from Nagasaki. I recently moved here too.

  • Kou? Are you free on your next day off? I want you to look at my homework. 

  • I don't need that kind of lip service.

Asumi was one of Futaba Yoshioka "friends" in her first year of high school along with Chie. She disliked Yuri Makita, especially her personality around boys, and talked ill of Yoshioka at times. After being reprimanded by Yoshioka about her and Chie's gossip about Yuri, she defriends Yoshioka and begins to ignore her.

  • What are you saying? We like Futaba the way she is. At least she's not like her.
