Blood Run

Blood Run

Project Overview

The Scorpio crew arrives near Skirra Minor, a world kept in poverty to serve its wealthy twin planet, Skirra Major. While Tarrant and Soolin gather supplies, Orac reveals that Governor Trast of Major has been “mauled by a farm animal” and urgently needs a blood transfusion. Avon sees an opportunity when a medical courier, Evron Salbor, is transporting the needed blood. Salbor is a nervous, scowling man in his forties, described as “overweight… with thinning hair and a permanent scowl.” He is already under pressure from Tayne Trast, the governor’s ruthless daughter, introduced as “a hard-faced, long-haired brunette in her mid-twenties.”

Avon intercepts Salbor’s shuttle, seizes the blood, and plans to ransom it to force Tayne to “cancel all food shipments off Skirra Minor” so the starving population can finally eat. Tayne appears furious and terrified, but instead of giving in, she shocks everyone by ordering her father’s life support turned off, calling him “a worthy sacrifice to protect the Federation.”

Her cold resolve destroys Avon’s plan. Pursuit ships are launched, and Avon abandons Salbor on Minor with a failing teleport bracelet. The Scorpio escapes, shaken by Tayne’s brutality and the consequences of their own desperate gambit.

This story, published in the Cult Edge produced book, Scorpio Tales, is based on Season 4 of the British cult TV show, Blake's 7. Characters required include one of the originals (Dayna) and two specific to this story who were not in the original series.

This is a fan-produced audio drama. No profit is made. Casting will be completed once the project date expires.

Dayna enters Blake's 7 Series 3 as a brilliant, young weapons expert whose optimism and curiosity survive even the trauma of her father’s murder. She has a naturally musical, expressive voice and a forthright manner that makes her stand out immediately. Energetic, inventive, and physically confident, she often leaps into danger with a kind of fearless joy, bringing warmth and vitality to the Liberator crew.

By Series 4 she is hardened. The destruction of the Liberator, the chaos on Terminal, and fellow crewmate Cally’s death strip away much of her earlier brightness. Dayna becomes more self‑contained and more openly driven by anger, though her expressive voice and directness remain part of her presence. She challenges their leader, Avon more readily, trusts her own instincts, and approaches missions with a sharper, more pragmatic focus.

Her weapons skills are still central, but they feel less like a craft she delights in and more like a necessity for survival. The grief she carries is rarely spoken, yet it shapes her tone, her decisions, and her relationships. In Series 4, Dayna is still young, still brave, still formidable — but now marked by loss, and no longer willing to pretend the fight is anything but brutal.

  • I'm not sure that shuttle will fit in the hold, Avon.

  • You could have saved him! You should have saved him!

  • Whatever it is, we need to do it quickly. If Tayne is sending pursuit ships we need to bring Tarrant and Soolin back on board and get away.

The governor’s daughter is a woman in her mid‑twenties, raised in privilege but tempered by the harsh realities of frontier politics. Her voice blends authority with the grit of someone who’s fought her own battles. She speaks with controlled confidence — low, steady, and deliberate — yet flashes of youthful fire break through when she’s pushed.

Her political upbringing gives her polish and precision, while her mercenary life adds a roughened edge. She’s used to issuing commands, negotiating under pressure, and revealing very little of what she truly feels. When she softens, it’s rare and striking, a brief glimpse of warmth beneath the armour. She’s powerful, self‑possessed, and shaped equally by inheritance and hard experience.

  • [Deriding] Quit your sycophancy, you loathsome wretch! Give me an update on your journey. At what time will you be making the delivery?

  • [Threatening] You'd better be right. Because if my father dies you can get used to that strait between Major and Minor - as that's where I'll have you thrown out of an airlock! Am I understood?

  • [Satisfied] A worthy sacrifice to protect the Federation!
