Beast: Fearful Minds | A Marvel Audio Drama
Project Overview
In the Marvel Audio Universe, there are heroes, villains, monsters. Though among them all are the start of a brand-new species and the next step in human evolution. The Mutants. Many sprinkled throughout, but here is the beginning of the team fighting for their very survival. The X-Men.
The MADU’s X-Men is starting from the beginning membership. A starting story detailing their origins. With The Beast beginning their journey. Specifically, The Beast: Fearful Minds is a sci-fi sense of dread tale going into the initial steps for both the team and Hank McCoy specifically. Where his personal story leads to become the mutant superhero we know of today.
With this story’s fun science fiction landscape of wonder turned to dread, and many more X-Men productions that some will be involved in next, I hope you give it your all. For this is a long term arc of many projects starting small involving X-Men arcs in many directions for those involved. Though, whether a long-term or brief involvement, I hope to see some of you and your uncanny talents unfold astonishingly.

Hank McCoy is your very academically minded and good-hearted student turned scientist and then back to student under Xavier’s eventually. While his unending charm, positivity and, advanced vocabulary define him greatly on the outside, Hank hides behind a certain amount of uncertainty and denial about both all of mutant kind and his own physical condition. With partial shame with it as he learns to embrace how he looks and feels.
Within moments he has fallen into deeper despair, there is much darkness he delivers to both himself and others. Where he uses his intelligent and methodical mindset for evil as the future form of the Dark Beast. Though this form is only an occasional internal foe in this story, it will be a silent dread for him among others.

“Perhaps you’re right. We’re helping the world understand these perplexing conditions our way, and the world is ready for it. Whether to be rid of them or to embrace their inner beauty.”
“The testing trials are safe, and so are the gene regression therapies! In fact, all the labs across are intact from this hall onward. How improbable by chaotic chance, unless… my suspicions were confirmed.”
[DARK BEAST] “It feels real, doesn’t it? It could be real. You save these poor bits of research data, and then what? How long do you think they’ll let you do your little tests to your perfect cure? All as a self-righteous ape!”

Jason Wynngarde is a closed off and stubborn individual at first. Seeming like the kind of man to want minimal social contact and cannot stand slackers and idiots within his wake. Though hidden behind is an inner dramatic flair. A sense of unhinged theatrics that takes great enjoyment in messing with people’s fears. He is a manipulator of a grand proportion who wishes to be the centerpiece in the destruction of others’ minds.
As he is recurring similar to others in this production, he will eventually reach a point of further unravelling sanity. Where his dramatic innerself not only becomes all that is left compared to the shut in scientist being no more, but also mad mutterings and being lost in his own head to crazed degrees become a larger aspect for one to use.

“So you are who Director White has been speaking so highly of.”
“How did- How could you? Your mind is a tapestry of fear. Your insecurities would have been your prison for months, even years! How could you ever escape?”
(Repeated muttering) “Master of the minds… Master of all minds… ”

An upstart college graduate, Jennifer Nyles has her whole life ahead of her and is seeking it one step at a time. While patient in finding her calling, she is also excitable, a slight jokester, and skillful in back and forward social interactions. Jennifer, while still starting the rest of her life, has the makings of an everyday hero in her compassion, stubborn readiness to be there for others when she can, and unending concern. She is Hank’s last tie to his old life, and she is sticking through no matter what.

(slightly tired) “Hank? Why are you calling this late? I have an internship in a few hours.”
“Slow down. This sounds bad, but Hank, I fail to see what I can do. Roxxon is not exactly close to my new rental space, and this seems like a job for some far more qualified people. The cops, someone on the level of those 60s cosmicnauts even.”
“Well he could use someone who understands this- this thing. I-I don’t know how to describe it, Professor Xavier.”

A major role in multiple projects moving forward, Charles is a teacher viewing the bigger picture in protecting mutant kind. Often speaking for his students in the perspective of teaching a greater lesson to provide. He has a sense of hope to provide to his students and to mutant kind, but his desperation to provide for the X-Men as a whole leads to moments of manipulation with his powers in that it comes easy for him to abuse them for his own gains.
While with a calm demeanor of wisdom spread throughout his cadence, Charles has much belief in his chances of making a better world between humans and mutants. While with hope of this, some reach a sense of denial. Though, one thing that is certain is his care and compassion for his students.

“Fear. It’s peculiar, isn’t it? We respond to it as if it commands us when we contain a powerful defence against the very concept of fear—one to control. Yet, we treat our world as out of control because of it. The mind is complex. It's the formation of these emotions that I can understand, that I can control. But what of everyone else? Others are lost in the fears of their past, their greatest losses, and their most precious memories. Luckily, there is one grand example...”
“While Linda slowly got closer to him, I had been pushed away in the second of three calls made to Hank McCoy. The truth of the matter is that I didn’t listen to his vision. The belief of a cure was something familiar and threatening to my findings of where mutant-kind was heading. We still don’t see eye to eye on that completely. However, as Hank joined Roxxon instead of working alongside me, things got far worse all around him. The young students that agreed to Hank’s trial program for testing mutations had all gone missing under mysterious circumstances in the coming days.”
“Moving your body to the next stage of your mutation’s growth before it was ready. Hank, I didn’t know, but I can help you. Your gifts. They can be trained. I… have a sanctuary to make it easier to live with them. If you’ll let me.”

Linda is a very dedicated researching assistant in her work at the Roxxon Oil Corporation. Alongside her cold process of methodology to serve however, is a deep passion for the work that she does. Initially being brought out of her shell by Hank McCoy, but on a far different path of secrecy. One of a dark path she cannot share as her true purpose at Roxxon, still being carried by the same passions for science that brought her in publicly.

“We can. Ms. White of Research and Development has gifted a presentation to honour your arrival. Mutations and their part in genetics are scarce when looking for an expert. Especially for an expert of your calibre. The entire team is happy to have you on.”
“(chuckles briefly) No, just incredibly observant even on an empty stomach. I’ll get ourselves a takeout order. I still want to keep poking that great mind of yours too, and we’re going to be here for a while.”
“Thanks. Though Hank, you should know, that this journey is… one I am glad to be on too. With what we have gathered together, you could very well change the world.”

A kindhearted, caring father, Norton has had a few secrets and tough questions he has had to keep hidden from his son about his genetics. While dealing with the difficult stage of his son moving out to see the world on his own terms, Norton always has a place for Hank in his lives. Even if hard enough for the Midwest older man to accept that he won’t always be a part of it anymore.

“I wouldn’t credit it all to me. The lab accident might hold some responsibility on your football rep more than this old bone.”
“The same goes for your mother and me. We’ll check in when we can. I know this is your dream, but you’ll always be ours.”
“To keep you safe. You know what’s out there. Now more than ever. I couldn’t have you face that. To never be able to live your life after being hunted down like those other mutants.”

The commanding and friendly presence leading Roxxon to the future, Ms. White doesn’t play a massive role in the story, but she is there to make sure that Roxxon expands their reach with a mind to greater sciences. And sees a lot in those she recruited like Linda, Wynngarde, and McCoy in order to achieve that.

“Welcome, Henry McCoy. I am Director White—Head of Research and Development at Roxxon. While the far more public sectors of our company are put together by those with other ambitions and changes of the present definitions of power, we here present you with the keys to Roxxon’s future. I am sure you know that mutation can be a source of great good. What we can provide you to achieve that potential are our unlimited resources. So now, see your team’s great work, join together, and welcome to Roxxon.”
“Co-ordinate security on McCoy’s samples. They are Roxxon’s property and we need to study these mutants further in a more secure facility.”
Secret Future Role
Unknown Age
Very much more important in the future projects to come, she has been on the Earth far longer than Xavier to achieve a wider goal and a more extreme conviction. While Raven is calculated in her demeanor and a constant coolheaded professional, her mission is powered by her disgust for humans and their treatment of her kind. Though at the same time, is secretly at this mission for the love of her family and will do whatever it takes for the Brotherhood. With goals years ahead in place for them all.
“(sigh) You’d probably still be alive if you’d have just shut up. Oh well.”
“So you’re the Mastermind. A little fried to be the biggest genius of this generation, but Magnus must want you for something. Wishes to bring you in. Give you a second chance at using your power for more than just playthings in a basement. In exchange for helping a Brotherhood out, we’ll fix your brain. Deal?”
