Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean - Episode 2 (Seeking Additional Characters) - [CLOSED]
Project Overview
Hi there! I'm Chara, and I'm the director of an on-going fandub of the Gamecube JRPG title, Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean.
With Part 1 of Episode 1 released and Part 2 and 3 being finalized, I'm now seeking talented voices to portray additional characters that will be appearing in Episode 2. These characters help flesh out the universe of Baten Kaitos and add some color to the world, showing how their lives have been affected firsthand by the actions of the main characters.
Note: Some of these characters have just a few lines, and so will be listed as one-shot performances where only the audition take will be needed for the final product, unless redos are otherwise needed. These will be marked with an asterisk (*)
Lines in Italics are not meant to be spoken, and are simply guides for dialogue between multiple characters.
Requirements
- Multiple takes are recommended, please provide at least 2-3 takes.
- Having a discord is helpful but not mandatory. For non-one shot characters, contact will be over email and the CCC chatroom.
- Please have clean, reasonably decent audio quality (keep your auditions as free of background noise as possible, puff-free, and clear)
- Have fun! None of these listed characters have official voices, so please go for your personal interpretations and have at it!
- Feel free to audition for as many characters as you'd like.
- Rodolfo [Row-DALL-foe]
- Ladekahn [LA-de-Kahn]
- Sadal Suud [Suh-DOLL-sood]
- Diadem [Die-uh-dem]
- Anuenue [Uh-nu-ey-nu-ey]

5 more days till closing - 6M characters still open
Hi everyone, I wanted to thank you all again for auditioning!! I've left feedback on a couple auditions, and will continue to should you request it! Auditions are set to close in less than a week, and the following six roles have not yet received an audition: - Imperial Soldier Bar Patrons - Snobby Bar Patron - Boastful Boyfriend - Liner Tourist Guide - Drunkard's Sober Friend - Eagle-Eyed Bartender Because of this, unless I can find a suitable voice, there is a possibility that they may be cut from production. That is the last thing I want to do however, and so I may be extending the casting call once more if I can't secure any auditions for these characters. Hope you all have a good week, thank you for your hard work, and you'll be hearing from me again soon! -
2 more weeks!

This is just a reminder that auditions will stay open for 2 more weeks, but the deadline may be extended if I haven't received enough auditions for all characters. Thank you all once again, and have a good weekend!

(dejected, weary) "I’ve been losing sleep ever since the Empire started showing up. I wonder what they’re up to."

Concerned Boyfriend: (warily) …Yet, it doesn’t mean they won’t start. (pleading, but firmly) Stay away from them, all right?
(reluctantly) "I will…"
(concerned) "He’s worrying too much about the Empire, among other things. A little confidence wouldn’t hurt…"
An extremely bitter regular found at the Pherkad bar. He is found slumped over on a table and loudly complaining about Lord Rodolfo, who is widely seen by the city folk as a coward and a pushover. Drunkard's Sober Friend: (quietly, hissing) Stop it right there. Someone might be listening. That’s one drink too many for you.
(angrily, slurring a bit) "Oh shut up! It’s all his fault. With Rodolfo licking the Empire’s boots, it’s little wonder the Imperials push us around."
Drunkard's Sober Friend: (scolding him) Stop it. We all live in peace thanks to Lord Rodolfo’s efforts. You should know that.
(getting progressively angrier, raising his voice) "In peace? Since when do you call having Imperial soldiers all over the place, “peace”? We should kick the Empire out, and be done with it! This is our town, dammit!"
The Drunkard's sober friend, trying in vain to quiet him down before his thoughtless comments about their nation's lord get them arrested, or worse. All 9 of his lines appear here, so if you nail this role, you won't need to record anything else unless retakes are needed.*
Bitter Drunkard: (angrily drunk, hiccuping) "Lord Rodolfo is a complete idiot! He’s a coward, he’s pathetic, he’s… Erp. Hic."
(quietly, hissing) "Stop it right there. Someone might be listening. That’s one drink too many for you."
(scolding his friend) "Stop it. We all live in peace thanks to Lord Rodolfo’s efforts. You should know that."
(embarrassed, hushed, pleading) "Sorry ‘bout my friend. Please don’t tell anyone what he said. He’s too drunk to know what he’s saying…"
A quiet regular at the Pherkad bar. If Kalas speaks to him, he'll warn Kalas to stay away from Imperial Soldiers, calling them creeps and claiming they're quick to violence. (hushed, quietly, speaking of the Imperial Soldiers) "Have you seen them? The creeps who came on that ship? They’re like rabid animals. They get violent at the drop of a hat."
"Those guys really scare me. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll stay away from them, too."
(warning Kalas) "Hey, remember what I told you. Stay away from those creeps or you’re cruisin’ for a bruisin’."
VOICE CHARACTERISTICS: Intimidating, Terse, Sharp, Gruff

Soldier #4 has two lines, Soldier #5 has five lines, and Soldier #6 has six lines total. Any accent for these soldiers will do, the more varied the better. Would prefer to cast multiple actors.
Soldier#4: (curt) "Why are you staring at us? We’re not on display, kid. Get lost."
Soldier#5: (threatening) "Of course, you don’t have a bone to pick with us, do you?"
Soldier#6: (reigning them in) "Stop it. It’s useless to pick a fight with a country boy like this. Leave him alone."
A sharp and observant bartender who has been quietly making notes of all visits made to Sadal Suud by the Empire, quickly coming to the conclusion that they've found something valuable. Has 9 lines total.
"This is the second time folks from the Empire have paid us a visit during the recent weeks. During their first visit, they came in a smaller ship, so maybe they were just scouting the area."
(curiously) "But this time they’ve turned up in that huge ship of theirs. What’s all the interest for? Have they found the ancient treasures of some lost civilization?"
(a bit bitterly) "If they found it in our backyard, don’t we deserve a share? Ha ha ha… Keep dreamin’, right?"
Her sister is a maid who works for Lord Rodolfo. Therefore, she is is privy to all sorts of juicy gossip regarding their spineless Lord, which she can't help but share with Kalas. She has 8 lines total.
(unable to hold back) "My sister serves as a maid in the Lord’s Mansion. She says that… Well, I shouldn’t be telling you this, but…"
(angrily) "Our lord can boss maids around, but when it comes to Imperial soldiers, all he can do is lick their boots!"
(hesitantly) "I shouldn’t possibly tell strangers something so shameful."
A Historian in Pherkad who gives some insightful background about the Five Nations of the world to Kalas. Very passionate. Has 10 lines total.
(eagerly) "Want to hear about the Five Whales of this world?"
(explaining enthusiastically) "Okay. I’ll tell you what I know. The five islands floating in the Sky are called Whales. Each Whale has its own nation. The five nations are: our very own Sadal Suud Frontier; Diadem, Land of the Clouds; Anuenue, the Rainbow Nation; Mira, City of Illusion… And, of course, Alfard Empire."
"But some say there’s another island, another nation. Legends tell of a land of witches at the far end of the world. I don’t know if I buy that, though."
A Cebalrai Villager on his way to Pherkad who has his path blocked off by a landslide. Kalas promptly clears a path for him after obtaining explosives from Larikush, the village doctor. All 8 of his lines are in this audition, so if you nail this role, you won't be required to record anything else unless retakes are needed.*
(annoyed) "Will you look at this rubble blocking the path… Just my luck that I decide to risk my life and there’s a landslide. If only I had some explosives. Then I could clear a path…"
(bitterly) "What am I saying? Fat chance of finding explosives out here in the sticks!"
(awed, and a little afraid, upon watching Kalas blow up the rocks) "Where in heaven’s name did you find explosives?! Are you from the Empire or something?"
A young child who lives in Pherkad and appears to be one of Palolo III's self-proclaimed "henchmen". Determined and energetic, but a bit clueless. Doesn't know the next number after 99. All 7 of his lines appear here in this audition, so if you nail this audition, you won't be asked to record anything else unless retakes are needed.*
(huffing, curious) "Palolo ordered me to run one hundred laps. I’ve run ninety nine, is the next number zero? I wonder when I’ll get to one hundred. "
(animatedly, to Kalas) "You must be surprised by the clouds around here, huh? This is the only place you’ll find in the world with so many great clouds. Actually, there is one other place…"
"You can also find them in Diadem, Land of the Clouds."

VOICE RANGE: MEDIUM - HIGH
VOICE CHARACTERISTICS: Haughty, Stuck-up, Snobbish
½ of an annoying couple who keeps getting lost in each other’s eyes. Annoying because their infatuation with each other makes them oblivious to people they bump into while strolling. (disgruntled sigh) "Humph!"
(annoyed from being interrupted on her stroll with her boyfriend) "Could you, like… get out of our way? Or are you, like… trying to flirt with me?"
(snidely) "You don’t have a chance, you know. I’m taken as you can see. "
Tourist Guide in Pherkad standing right beside the Liner to Diadem. Has a great touristy-guide voice! All 5 of his lines appear here in this audition, so if you nail this role, you won't need to record anything else unless retakes are needed.*
(animatedly) "This is the Express Liner to Diadem, our nearest neighbor, and land of knights and clouds!"
"Diadem is ruled by King Ladekahn, renowned for his wisdom and virtue."
(apologetically, but cheerful) "I’m sorry. The liner is undergoing maintenance work. Please come back later."
An insensitive regular at the bar who had witnessed Aljeemo getting arrested and knows he's being imprisoned at Roldolfo’s manor. Looks down on him and thinks he deserves it. All 6 of his lines appear in this audition, so if you nail this role, you won't need to record anything else unless retakes are needed.*
(recalling what he'd witnessed 2 days ago) "I saw a gambler in here the other day who said he had gotten in just two or three days ago from a village."
(unsympathetically) "He was such a country bumpkin. I saw him get burned real bad and lose everything."
(haughty, laughing a bit) "In the end, he just made things worse for himself by getting violent. The fool ended up getting arrested and is now being held at the Lord’s Mansion. Man, what a luckless jerk!"
