Project Overview

Bare Teeth will be a 3 minute animated Senior Graduation Film produced at the Kansas City Art Institute starring the: Calli and Decker, two original characters held very near and dear to my heart. For this year long project, I felt it would be fun to create a short meet-cute esc film that showcases their twisted and passionate relationship! This meet-cute is atypical which means that its a little gorey, silly, awkward at times but ultimately charming in the end! The goals of this film are to create a fantastic finished piece to show around in the festival circuit, Appeal to young adults interested in campy horror and sometimes inappropriate humor and to fully realize a vision from start to finish!

  • 10/08 Project Updates and Deadlines

    Thank you to everyone who has submitted an audition to my work!

    It has been incredibly heart warming and exciting to see/listen to all the submissions put in over the course of these past weeks. I have been seriously impressed by how many of you guys conveyed these characters in such unique and interesting ways!

    Because submissions are closed for now I wanted to update you all on some major developments in this project:

    • Script is fully finished! Despite some minor revisions all the lines and details should be fairly solid and ready for voice actors to work from!

    • Character Designs are finished and tested: Calli, Decker and the Bouncers designs are finalized and ready to be showcased :)

    • Animatic (WIP): Currently the animatic is being worked on and should be finished (with scratch audio) before October 16th that way actors and composers can also work from that regarding timing!

    Here are some goals and important dates for the future:

    • Oct. 12-14th: During these days I plan on assigning roles and reaching out to those picked for each part to work out recording specifics and deadlines. During these discussions we will also go over a release contract! Please be on the look out for a message from me soon!

Character Description

Decker is a young, 26 year old sociopath entering a new low in his life. A good word to describe his approach to others is misanthropy, a general dislike for people or human beings. Even though he is a sociopath he does reserve some empathy, what little there is left. Before meeting Callidora he had no roof to sleep under or friends to lean on, feeding his general hate filled attitude. Upon their first meeting he knew he was presented an opportunity by stumbling upon a vampire. Not only this, but she was the most beautifully fanged girl he had seen that night. Once he's been enthralled, Decker becomes obsessed with the woman he comes to love and would move heaven and earth to do anything for her, also reveling in the excitement of capturing human prey. 


Voice Attributes:

Decker is originally from Brooklyn his accent would be fairly thick. Some voice references for this character would be: Scout from TF2 and Jerma. 

Looking for this character to be generally disgruntled with life but able to have some energy in his voice. Think alley cat, mob goonish and manipulative. His voice has a little roughness to it. When he speaks to others he is generally curt at best and hostile most other times. But towards Callidora he is boastful, flattering and confident.

Character Description:

Callidora is a 205 year old “master” vampire appearing as a fashionable 35 year old woman. When she's not sleeping during the day she hunts at night, binging on multiple bodies and finding joy in the slaughter. She loves attention which is a shame, because she has to hide away for most of the day. Calli's general attitude towards people is disgust and sanctimonious attitude because of her position as a "Master" Vampire. In the beginning with Decker, if he had not been such a big help to her she would have eaten him too, but now as a thrall he serves as a general annoyance with his forward nature and boisterous character. Over time it seems however, his personality begins to grow on her and for the first time in 100 years does she feel her cold, dead heart almost pump again. 


Voice Attributes:

For this character I'm requiring a Transylvanian/Romani accent since these are her origins. Please try to avoid the overzealous and cheesy vampire voices! Her voice heavily relies on this accent and is also somewhat soft and sultry for her older age. Some voice claims include: Draculara (Much Calmer, More sultry for Calli), Carmilla (Castlevania, For Softness), Striga (Castlevania, For Accent), The Brides of Dracula (Count Dracula),  Female Draenei (WOW) and Nadja (What we do in the Shadows).

This character is just a big, buff and burly guy who either owns the bar in the setting of this story or is the bouncer. Just in general a tough sounding character. No exact preference for sound or accent so show me what you've got!

I'm looking for someone who would be interested in collaborating on a musical score for my film. The style of music I'm looking for is something slower, Jazzy and Nior-ish towards the beginning combined with a bit of a more pop-funk musical style towards the ending if possible! I would love it the score could at minimum accentuate the apex of the story and lead to a spunky ending.
