Aspirations of Achievement (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Machinima)
Project Overview
The year is 2008: a new series of Smash Bros. tournaments, dubbed "the Brawl series" by competitors, has recently begun. Joining the competition is a new generation of fighters from all over--including Lucario, an aspiring combatant from a far-off region. Lucario has trained all his life to be a warrior, and he aims to test his strength against the greatest gathering of competitors ever. But as the months pass, Lucario repeatedly finds himself struggling to achieve victory and begins to doubt himself. Desiring to improve himself, he seeks a mentor who will train him, and finds himself in the mentorship of a retired, yet legendary Smasher...
Aspirations of Achievement is a sequel series to the machinima series Delusions of Grandeur. This series takes place roughly two years after the events of Delusions, which can be viewed here for those who are interested.

Role Type: Lead (appears in all episodes)
Bio:
A newcomer to the Brawl tournaments, Lucario had previously spent years training himself to become a great fighter. But although he successfully gained entry into the tournament, he quickly begins to feel out of his depth as he struggles to keep up with veteran competitors and other newcomers. Hoping to earn a decent standing, Lucario seeks out a mentor who will be able to help him reach his full potential.
Voice Type:
This interpretation of Lucario is on the younger side, so anything fitting a young male adult will do. As the plot focuses on his growth as a fighter, the voice should reflect Lucario's development over time (i.e. hesitant and doubtful at some times, but confident and eager in others)

[frustrated, melancholy] All the effort I put in to become a competitor, all that time spent training... and for what? To barely make it past the first round?
[satisfied] My Aura feels a lot stronger now... looks like the new training's already paying off.
[energetic, as if in a battle] Let me show you what I'm REALLY capable of! Aura Sphere!!
Role Type: Supporting (appears in Episodes 1, 3, and 4)
Bio:
A member of Pokémon Trainer Red's team and Lucario's main rival. The strongest of Red’s Pokémon, Charizard has traveled with the young Trainer since the beginning. Countless battles in the Kanto region made them a formidable team, and now Charizard aims to test his skills against competitors in the Brawl tournaments. Proud and boisterous, he lives for the thrill of battle and has a disdain for opponents who don’t give him a decent challenge.
Voice Type:
Slightly deep and a bit gruff. Charizard's tone should convey both his eagerness for battling and his inflated self-pride.

[prideful, almost smug] I don't mean to brag too much, but I'm surprised that match lasted as long as it did.
[eager, hungry for battle] Come on, now! Let's make this a battle worth remembering!
[addressing Squirtle, like a big brother] Keep it up out there, Squirt. You'll be a champ in no time.
Role Type: Supporting (appears in Episodes 1, 3, and 4)
Bio:
Red is a Pokémon Trainer from the Kanto region, and for a time he held the title of Pokémon League Champion. Seeking a new challenge, he was able to enlist his Pokémon as competitors in the Smash Bros. tournaments, leading his team to victory just as he did in the past. Red also enjoys a good battle, and he’s always eager to face his opponents to see how they grow in skill.
Voice Type:
As a Pokémon Trainer, Red is the one directing his team in each tournament: thus, his voice should sound energetic and commanding. A good vocal reference would be Red's portrayal in Pokémon Origins.

[commanding] Alright, Charizard! Use Flamethrower!
[congratulatory] You were amazing out there, Charizard! Awesome job.
[slightly concerned] Don't push yourself too much. It's still anyone's match here.
Role Type: Minor (appears in Episodes 3 and 4)
Bio:
Squirtle is the newest member on Red’s team, and he was selected to complement Charizard's strengths. While his attacks don’t hit as hard, Squirtle is incredibly agile and able to set up combos that do a fair bit of damage, which sets his teammates up to finish opponents off. Outside of battle, Squirtle is incredibly friendly and eager to make new friends among the Smashers.
Voice Type:
Squirtle is essentially a young child, and his voice should reflect this: he should sound friendly, playful at times, and excitable. Although this is a male character, voice actors of any gender can audition for the role.

[excited] It'd be so cool if I evolved before the next tournament! I'd be a Wartortle! [thinking] But then... I wouldn't be called Squirtle anymore, right?
[excited] There he is, Char! There's Lucario!
[a bit disappointed] I really thought I was gonna win this time... [optimistic] But that just means I have to train even harder!
Role Type: Minor (appears in Episode 3)
Bio:
A young swordsman from a faraway land, Ike is another newcomer to the Brawl tournaments. He’s a frequent sparring partner for Marth, who also acts as Ike’s mentor. Ike is rather direct with people but is known to be very compassionate and loyal. His strength is also renowned among other competitors, who are surprised to find out how strong he can be.
Voice Type:
Slightly deep, but still young-sounding. Ike is a man of few words: when he does speak, his tone should be stoic and reserved. The only time he really emotes is during battle, where he lets out battle cries or calls his attacks.

[direct, but kind] Here’s to a good match.
[determined] Keep your guard up. You won't get any sympathy from me.
[shouting] GREAT... AETHER!!!
Role Type: Minor (appears in Episode 4)
Bio:
A longtime companion to veteran fighter Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong recently qualified as a newcomer for the Brawl tournaments. He's overjoyed to finally compete with his best buddy, and sees the tourney as an opportunity to make more friends. Diddy Kong is a bit of a jokester, not above making monkey-related puns even in the middle of a battle.
Voice Type:
Should sound reminiscent of Diddy Kong's portrayal in the Donkey Kong Country cartoon series, with some occasional monkey noises.

[charging his Peanut Popgun] Better watch out! This is gonna hurt!
[performing a combo] Check this out! I call it the Hoo-HAH! [chittering noises]
[congratulatory] That... was... AWESOME. You really weren't monkeying around back there.
