Project Overview

Ashfall:

After the war, the life of the old ended, And a new life began. But a rift formed and humanity was questioned, leading to EDEN the city among the clouds, and Ashfall; the remnants of old ghosts.

About Ashfall:

It's a Dystopian that follows a Family who grew up in the wasteland. The main character Kodias Grey is the Eldest of 7 Adopted siblings and he is torn between this Protector Role and begins to self-destruct, till he meets Desmond Pierce, a soldier from the sky City "Eden" who was spared by Kodias.

Ashfall focuses on each Character and the

effects they have around them that make the

wasteland so complex and challenging pushing each of them so far.

    I hope this message finds you well! I wanted to provide you all with an update regarding the progress of Ashfall | Ratskull and what to expect moving forward.

    The Ashfall and Ratskull series are being merged to create a cohesive narrative. As part of this process, some scene cuts are planned to streamline the storyline. However, these adjustments will allow for a more seamless integration of character backgrounds and provide a more accurate representation of the Ashfall districts, ensuring consistency and narrative depth across both series.

Theo ran away from one of the carrier outposts, where they soon met Dee, a child of the scrappers, and quickly became friends. 

Theo and Dee stay around the slums and in the sewers of the Markets. 

Theo is fascinated with beetles. Dee allows them to collect them while venturing around the district, referring to them as “Critter.” 


Theo struggles occasionally in large crowds, clinging to Dee when uncomfortable. When they meet new people, they are shy and reserved but often take a liking to Kodias’s Quiet persona.

Blaine is a scavenger he deals with scrappers and traders and stays clear of Eden’s Carriers. He is rough around the edges and is one of the healthiest older inhabitants of Ashfall, Him and his wife run a scrap depot, where scrappers and other thieves attempt to take over. Blaine loves sketching small things he finds and making scrap art for his wife. While Blaine deals with scrappers he’s not fond of their destructive tendencies, his ties to scrappers go back to when he was a child, and he has a strong dislike for the ‘Grey’ family due to their growing numbers and reputation. Blaine refers to the children of Marette as “Vermin.” 

Blaine and Lylette are the only Allied Scavengers, many rouge scavengers venture outside Ashfall districts, and Blaine refuses to trade with them. Lylette and Blaine and Lylette have tried to have children but failed due to multiple factors in Ashfall regions.

She is the maker of Blaine’s Prosthetic arm and has been sought after by many to “fix broken parts.” though any prosthetic she makes isn’t functional it gives the person a little more than what they lost.

Blaine and Lylette are the only Allied Scavengers. Many rouge scavengers venture outside Ashfall districts, and Blaine refuses to trade with them. Lylette and Blaine have tried to have children but have failed due to multiple factors in Ashfall regions. Background:

Alexandra Grey is the youngest of the Grey family. She dresses in a patchwork, pocketed skirt, with a layered vest and a utility belt. 

Alexandra is Marette's only biological daughter, she was left in the care of her siblings when she was 4, and has been 6 years since the Disappearance of Marette.

Alexandra Grey is a very energetic child but she craves connection with her older siblings, she attempts to get them to engage with her by pulling pranks and getting into trouble, she sometimes seeks companionships outside of her family by interacting with District kids, and even going as far as leaving and going to Marauder territory. 

 She's often conflicted about how to approach people, and she resorted to relying on her collection of critters to keep her distracted.

She has a Mangy dog she calls Patches, 3 rats, and a chicken named Nuggets. 

One of the District's inhabitants attempted to steal Nuggets and she stabbed them in the knee. 

She has a close relationship with Lucius and Alaina, but Lyrena Dislikes her.

She views Kodias as a mix of an older brother/father figure. 

When she's old enough she will take over Ashfall and Kodias will give Lilith to her to take care of.

He is a child of Eden but he and Alaina were taken by Marette because both were seen as failed trials and were going to be terminated, Marette left the city with the two, as part of a genetic experiment to see if the human body could be altered to live in Ashfall and be resistant to certain sickness and disease. One of the side effects for Kodias is that he can't feel pain, so it takes him a while to react to injuries. When he was 5 he was kidnapped, and sent into the Bellows of the wasteland (Mudcrawler territory) before Marette could reach him, He was attacked leaving him with wounds to his face and neck. He wears the mask to not scare the locals or children he comes across including his younger siblings.

By the age of 15, he had been doing surveillance and defending District 3 from raiders, Marauders, and EDEN soldiers, and earned the title: Reaper.

Background:

Lyrena and Lucius were found around the "Smog" of Ashfall districts. They were passed around and raised by scavengers and scrappers, due to their youth they were seen more like vermin. Twins are an unlikely occurrence that happens in the wasteland the survival rate of unclaimed children is low, yet the value and limited advantage that the twins had made it easy to do risky jobs such as entering unstable structures, slipping into small spaces, and being able to teach codes and present themselves as a low threat made the duo quite flexible in their roles. Lucius went on a scrap hunt when he ran into Marette and got caught pickpocketing, after her brother was taken by Marette, Lyrena felt forgotten and abandoned and more entangled with scrappers and once she reunited with her brother tried to stab him. Over time she finally grew to be acquainted with the greys and with the birth of Alex she once more began to strain her relationship with the greys and her brother- jealousy and fear of being left behind making her isolated and hostile to anyone that gets close.

Background:

Desmond is a 20-year-old soldier who was born and raised in Eden, a city of science and technology. His unit consisted of two caretakers who were recognized for their services to EDEN.

When he was old enough to be placed in an educational environment he was removed from his unit and raised till early adulthood in the academy. He worked hard from his early years to maintain high proficiency scores yet still ranked lower amongst his peers. 

During his last year of the academy, he witnessed one of his classmates smuggle supplies to Ashfall. This classmate became his very close friend "Emilia Beckett" when the year ended they both received their scores and Desmond being the lowest in performance and proficiency was required to contribute his service to EDEN’s military and research team, while Emilia Beckett would go to the research facility.

Desmond Peirce's role in the District was scouting. He's skilled in negotiation and trade between EDEN. He was patrolling the District 3 border when he met Kodias, his first time seeing an Ashfall inhabitant, that was cautioned to be hostile and extremely dangerous. Desmond thought Kodias was a Marauder due to his stature and behavior so When Kodias approached him, he pulled his pistol and went to fire a warning shot but tripped and ended up shooting the wastelander in the hip. 

Desmond has been approached by Kodias on multiple occasions. Some on the Base and some at a meeting place in the ruins, Kodias tells stories to Desmond about his family.

Desmond doesn't push Kodias to show his face after they establish their relationship, he trusts that he will do that when he's comfortable.

Dee is a scrapper, acquainted with the reputation that comes with it she holds strong to her oath and is the second feared woman of the wasteland alongside Marette Grey. She is a companion to Theo, and very protective of them. They have stories passed around the scrapper territory of “the Beetle and the Critter.” she loves hearing Theo talk about beetles, despite not caring much for them, and she’ll talk to him about prosthetics and bones.
