This is a noncommercial, fan-made dub of the Arknights Records of Originium - Rhine Lab manhua, a side story to the Arknights mobile game. This project was started purely out of love for the game–it can not and will not be monetized in any way. All lines come from the Official English translation of the manhua, which can be found here: Rhodes Island's Records Of Originium - Rhine Lab. It should be noted that the official English translation of the manhua is still ongoing as of this casting call—the extra chapters have not been translated yet—by the time casting ends, the entire manhua will likely be fully translated. In total the manhua has a short prologue, 9 chapters and 3 short extra chapters. This dub will be released on YouTube.
It is important to note that I will not be casting based on how well your voice matches the official voice(s) of the character in question!
Many of the major characters in this manhua are not playable in the original game and do not have official voices anyway. Even for those that do have official voices, I highly encourage you to try different interpretations of these characters’ voices rather than trying to do an impression of the original voice. This is the reason why I will not provide voice references for any playable character.
Arknights is a tower defense mobile game created by Hypergryph. The story takes place on an alternate post-apocalyptic version of Earth called Terra. The most notable feature of Terra is the presence of the metal Originium*, which allows people to use “magic,” or Arts. Too much exposure to Originium, however, can cause a person to become Infected with a deadly disease called Oripathy. As of the game’s events, the disease is incurable, and Infected are shunned in Terran society. Arknights follows the point of view of a pharmaceutical company called Rhodes Island, which seeks to find a way to cure Oripathy once and for all. Records of Originium - Rhine Lab is a side story manhua that focuses on three characters connected to Rhine Lab (Saria, Silence, and Ifrit), a research institute partnered with Rhodes Island. The manhua details Rhine Lab’s horrific human experimentation culminating in an incident called “The Diɑbolic Crisis**,” after which the three characters mentioned above flee to Rhodes Island. The manhua flip-flops back and forth between the past and present, where Ifrit befriends an Infected stowaway in Rhodes.

TW: This manhua contains blood, violence, death by burning, death by desiccation/shriveled corpses, human experimentation/torture, insectoid monsters, and light graphic content. If you are uncomfortable with these sorts of scenes, please be wary of reading the manhua and watching the final dub!
No prior knowledge of Arknights is needed for this dub; however having a bit of context on the game’s lore (outside of the brief summary I give here) will help you a lot, especially if you are cast!
Because I am familiar with all of these characters, I will be providing voice direction for this project. Additionally, I may self-cast for a role if I feel it is needed; we will see by the deadline.
Feel free to resubmit auditions before the due date if you are unsatisfied with your performance for a particular role or if you wanted to try something different for a character.
Finally–and I cannot emphasize this enough–no roles will be cast before the deadline (midnight PST on June 2nd). So there is no need to rush if you aren’t currently in a good position to record! REQUIREMENTS
All open positions
- If you are cast, please be prompt in communication over Discord. As I am a university student myself, I understand that we all have other commitments, and am more than happy to accommodate if the need arises. However, communication is key! Do not suddenly disappear for a long period of time with no explanation or you will be recast (VA’s) or simply taken off the project (editors).
- Please be civil and easy to work with (if you have lines that need to be retaken, etc.)!
- Leave your Discord in your audition notes! Project communications will be done via Discord.
Voice actors
- You will not be casted for any role if you are below 14 years of age. While I would prefer that only those 16+ audition for this project, if you are younger but believe that you have the responsibility to handle the workload and that your voice suits a particular character, you may still audition.
- Please have a good, clear microphone. Make sure we can hear you properly and that there is minimal background noise.
- Also, several of the major roles will be required to shout in this project, so please be aware of that!
- Please do multiple takes of each line in AABBCC format.
- Submit auditions as audio files; .wav files are preferred but I can work with .mp3.
Editors
- Please submit a portfolio (nothing fancy needed, a link to a Google Doc would work!) listing your past work and your specialties if you are applying as a video editor.
- As this is a manhua, editing will not be very complicated but I would like this dub to look as nice as possible! My plan at the moment is to use a screen recorder to get footage of each panel as it comes along and sync it to the needed audio/music/sound, but I am open to more detailed discussion.
- Again, I will not accept applications from any editors who are below the age of 14.
