Antecedent Generation
Project Overview
The deadline has been extended to April 8!
Antecedent Generation is a oneshot fanganronpa in video format that is set in alternative universe of Danganronpa: Annihilated Generations featuring a new cast. It was initially created as an entry for Fangans for Hope, which was a month-long fanganjam. Due to the time constraints, the original video had limited assets and editing errors. This new revamped edition of Antecedent Generation will overhaul the original edition by fixing previous errors and including new assets such as inclusion of CGs, background music, and of course, voice acting.
Antecedent Generation could be a great choice to audition for if you want a shorter project that you do not need to have a huge commitment for, and also have the guarantee that the project itself is fully completed and thus does not risk sudden cancellation.

Please follow these guidelines if you would like to audition:
All voice actors MUST be 16 years old or older. No exceptions.
Since this is a fanganronpa, gore and violence will naturally be present. Other sensitive topics include but are not limited to: emotional abuse, deadnaming, and chemical dependency.
Since Antecdent Generation is based off another intellectual property (Danganronpa), it is completely non-profit. This will be an unpaid position as a result.
A good quality microphone with minimal background noise and reverberation is required. Auditions with poor quality audio will not be considered.
Some characters have specific accents listed. These accents are NOT a strict requirement; they are just a suggestion. If you do not believe you can perform an accent in a way that isn't offensive, it would be better to not do so at all. Either way, sound quality and the acting itself is still prioritized.
Following the accent guideline, the main voice description is not a strict requirement either. If you think a different voice would suit the character, feel free to deviate a bit.
There is no strict order requirement for the lines themselves. I would prefer an AAABBBCCC format, but ultimately your auditon won't be discarded solely for using a different order.
If your audition was dismissed prior the deadline, you may retake an audition if you wish to do so.
Lastly, please include your Discord tag as that is the way I communicate with my staff. If it is not included, there is a high chance your auditon might be skipped. Character Bio:
Despite being a freshman at Enlightened Minds University, V has gotten in trouble with the higher ups dozens of times. The fact that she has not faced expulsion from the school can only be chalked up to her contributions as an ultimate student being too notable to let go of.
Not only is V a difficult student, but she is also a difficult person for most people to get along with. V is very individualistic and self-absorbed along with having trouble showing sensitivity towards others.
Voice Description:
V has a fairly androgynous, medium to medium-low sounding voice. She speaks casually and assertively by default, though there are moments where she can lose her cool such as when she is startled or feels a strong emotion like anger. When speaking to someone V particularly dislikes/is annoyed at in the moment, her tone has a subtle but noticeable agitation. When narrating, she sounds somewhat bored or like she is trying to surpress a stronger emotion if a certain line is emotionally charged. In general, she should speak like your typical, non-chalant eighteen year old. V uses profanities often in her dialogue.
V is a transgender woman. As such, transfemme VAs are preferred, but anyone is welcome to audition.

Character Bio:
There is nothing that Reyes Castillo loves doing more than talking about his seaplane-related adventures when meeting someone new. The interest of seaplanes in particular initially stemmed from Reyes having a desire to travel to remote destinations that are not easily reachable by regular planes or other modes of transportation.
Unfortunately, Reyes’ tendency to boast about her ultimate title can sour certain people’s first impression of her due to appearing self-centered. While Reyes might struggle with controlling her self-flattery, she is very much considerate to others along with having a healthy side of playfulness.
Reyes is bigender and uses he/she pronouns in the story.
Voice Description:
Reyes has an androgynous or a medium-low to low feminine voice. She usually speaks in an easygoing and relaxed manner, though not in a way that sounds indifferent. Every so often, Reyes will stretch out certain words (e.g. "niiiiice") as a way to give emphasis to it. When irritated/angry, the relaxed tone is lost and instead becomes colder and sharper.
Reyes occasionally uses slang or interjections that are common in Spanish. As such, VAs who have knowledge in how to pronounce Spanish words are preferred.
Black VAs are preferred, but anyone is welcome to audition.

Character Bio:
Coming from a nation that has a high amount of volcanic activity, Birgitta Helgason discovered her interest in volcanology at a young age. She is particularly interested in studying the way that volcanic activity can form new land. Birgitta primarily studies Icelandic volcanoes, but found more opportunities to study volcanoes across the globe while attending Enlightened Minds University.
Despite her accomplishments, Birgitta is quite pessimistic and views herself in a lowly manner. It isn’t particularly clear why this is the case, though her fellow classmates speculate it might be because of her childhood, a deep rooted psychological issue, or even a combination of several explanations.
Voice Description:
Birgitta has a feminine medium to medium-high voice. She almost always speaks in a mousy manner, matching her ever-present inferiority complex. Along with being softspoken, she talks politely and will stutter every once in a while. If Birgitta is feeling a strong, negative emotion, her voice will be particularly shaky.

Character Bio:
Matti Kristen is renown hypnotherapist whose clients claim helped them overcome lifelong issues, with addiction recovery being a notable speciality of his. Ironically, Matti himself struggles with a crippling addiction to cigarettes.
The longer he worked as a hypnotherapist, the more Matti began to believe that he has an obligation to assist as many people as he can all while disregarding his own needs. While this made him quite popular with certain groups of people, a handful of others find his chronic selflessness offputting. It doesn’t help that he actively suppresses showing any strong emotion, and instead appears in a way that is eerily calm and overly polite.
Voice Description:
Matti has a smooth, masculine low to medium low voice. He almost always speaks in a soothing manner, as if he is in the middle of one of his therapy sessions. Matti on default also uses polite, formal, and flowery language with others. Even when feeling a strong negative emotion, Matti tries his best to keep his cool, but some of the emotion can still slip through the cracks.

Character Bio:
Since she was a young child, Fah Manivong dreamt of becoming a famous dancer. While she did initially pursue this dream, Fah unfortunately developed Juvenile Arthritis as a tween which made dancing become a painful task for her. While this did not make her give up dancing as a whole, she also discovered her interest in choreography and decided to give it a shot. To no one’s surprise, this pivot turned out to be a wild success.
Not only is Fah great at choreography itself and demonstrating her dance movements, but she is also a fantastic team leader. Her upbeat and amiable personality makes her very pleasant to be around, yet at the same time Fah is assertive and refuses to let herself or others be taken advantage of.
Voice Description:
Fah has an upbeat, medium-high to high feminine voice. She has a youthful (though not necessarily immature) way of speaking that makes her very approachable to many. While Fah is naturally friendly, she is still assertive and direct. She won't be afraid to scold others if she believes it is deserved. Fah wears her heart on her sleeve, and as such should be represented in her voice by displaying a wide range of emotions.

Character Bio:
Kalei Uematsu is an in-demand DJ who is even sought after internationally. Despite the lucrative opportunities that would await him, Kalei rarely takes up on these offers and prioritizes playing at local events hosted by people he is familiar with. This in turn only made him an even more desirable figure at events due to the apparent reluctance.
While attending Enlightened Minds University, Kalei constantly appears to be in a tense and anxious state according to other students and staff alike. Many believe, besides it just being a part of his disposition, that it might stem due to guilt from ignoring his family’s wishes and attending EMU despite their condemnatory attitude towards ultimate academies as a whole.
Voice Description:
Kalei has a tense, medium masculine voice. He almost always sounds like he is on edge due to his chronic anxiousness. He will stutter every so often, especially when nervous (which is very often). While Kalei is a very anxious individual, he is still fairly loud and will often raise his voice when feeling a negative emotion (raised voices are indicated by full capitalization). As such, this voice role will feature a significant amount of lines requiring loud acting.

Character Bio:
Calling Safa Al-Refai’s art portfolio diverse content-wise is an understatement. The majority consists of mosaic art, as that is her speciality, but the content of the art itself varies widely. From abstract, to religious, and even realism; Safa has probably tried it. Notedly, her personal favorite and also most viral works are pop culture related, which often blow up online and is also what got her attention from Enlightened Minds University.
Safa’s artistic mind and logical competence is brilliant; there is no doubt about that. Yet she often appears to be absentminded and not paying attention to conversations that she doesn’t deem important. When questioned, Safa mentions that she is “just thinking.” In general, she clearly dislikes being hassled by people concerning this habit.
Voice Description:
Safa has a composed, medium to medium-high feminine voice. She usually sounds like she is not fully immersed in a conversation due to her tendency to space out. Despite this, Safa is very much capable of sounding a lot more present and focused on a conversation if it is something that she deems to be important enough. Her voice is almost always controlled, and avoids raising it. Lastly, Safa will often utilize interjections/non-verbal sounds (e.g. "hm", "oh", etc).

Character Bio:
Coming from an affluent family with a history of competitive skiing, Artur Lisowski took advantage of the pre-established connection and took on the sport of ski jumping himself. After winning a gold medal at the Winter Olympics at just 17 years old, he was shortly invited to attend Enlightened Minds University.
Artur is an individual who is easily riled up, does not receive criticism well, and is quick to insult others. It takes a particular someone to make him have even a fraction of restraint. It is not easy to reason with Artur as he is someone who, at least on the surface, is fueled by pure impulse and spite.
Voice Description:
Artur has a gruff, medium to medium-low masculine voice. For most of his appearance, he should sound like he is perpetually pissed off about something (which he pretty much is). Due to Artur's nature of constantly being riled up, this role will require a significant amount of yelling as well as some profanity. When he is in a calmer state, his voice should sound have a more raspy sound.

Character Bio:
Not only is Shin the president of Enlightened Minds University, but she is also the heiress to a multi-billion dollar corporation. The corporation in question has ties with EMU that spanned for decades. As a result, many will wholeheartedly agree that Shin did not receive her position as the president by her own merits. This speculation did not cost Shin her title regardless.
Shin’s reputation among EMU students and even the staff is highly controversial. Besides the shady nature concerning how she got her position as the president, she is known to be overbearing and generally unpleasant to be around for many. Be warned; Shin is not a stranger to harming others in a psychological or even physical manner in order to achieve a certain goal.
Voice Description:
Shin has a stern, medium-low to low feminine voice. She speaks in a very authoritarian manner, reflecting the fact that she is in charge of running the killing game. Shin is typically composed when talking, but there are handful moments where she will lose her cool and raise her voice. Sometimes, she will even talk to them condescendenly as a way to further break morale.

Character Bio:
One of the two bodyguards that accompany President Shin during the killing game. Neither of the guards seem fazed by the fact that they are directly involved in a killing game and remain loyal to Shin as ever.
Voice Description:
The bodyguard has a rough, medium-low to low masculine voice. For the entirety of his short appearance, he talks in a detached and an almost-annoyed manner as if he's being inconvencienced by having to say anything. There should be an air of authority around him whenever he speaks.
