Animated Short - On the German Highway
Project Overview
INTRODUCTION
Hello, my name is Fox Lox, and I'm looking for 4 voice actors for my upcoming animated short: "On the German Highway." I hope to use this animation as a portfolio piece to apply to my preferred animation school, as well as to send it to a few (student) competitions.
I hope to find voice actors who are interested in lending me their voice for their chosen role - this project is unpaid.
OVERVIEW
In this ~50 second animation 3 teen-aged students get their hands on a car and try driving away with it - they get stopped by a police officer who really didn't expect to see a bunch of weirdos in a car. The main genre is comedy with a bit of action.
DEADLINES AND AUDITIONS
The audition deadline is the 19th October, 2026. No extension is currently planned, but I will postpone the deadline if needed. I will notify the selected voice actors before the 24th October and send them the scripts.
Since this is a very flexible project, I hope to communicate via Discord.
WHAT TO EXPECT
If you are selected for this project, I will notify you via Discord (so please include your Discord username in your application description).
Communication will primarily take place via Discord. If you are unfamiliar with Discord or would prefer to send me your audio recordings via another method, please mention this in your application (I can provide my email address, or we can find another solution).
For applicants who wish to voice a character: After receiving your script, please send your voice files (in .wav / .mp3 format) as soon as possible. While I am not setting a deadline for completing the recordings, I hope you can finish them as soon as possible.
Since the roles of Sam and Ivy already include all needed lines in this audition you may expect that I'd just use those you've sent in here.
Don't let all this information put you under pressure! This is primarily a fun-project. So, if any questions or problems arise, please feel free to contact me.
Additionally
I hope to publish the animation on my social platforms but due to the nature of student competitions I will be holding of publishing it for one year so if I should actually have the luck of being nominated for anything I won't be clashing with any rules stating that the animation/short film was not to be published online beforehand - so please be patient when it comes to me uploading the finished footage in the future.
ABOUT ME
I'm a young animator with experience in frame-by-frame as well as rigged animation. I animated videos which ranged up to 1 minute - so with this project being of around 50 seconds I won't be having a problem finishing it asap. I have experience with various software - though I currently prefer to use Moho, Tahoma2D, Blender, and DaVinci Resolve for my animations.

For this project specifically I'll be working with the following software: Moho 14, Tahoma2D, DaVinci Resolve.
WHAT IS EXPECTED FROM YOU
· Before submitting your recording, please include your Discord username in your application.
· Please submit clean recordings using a suitable microphone (no air conditioners or fans in the background). I'm happy to apply noise reduction to your files, but too much can affect the audio quality. Leave the audio-editing to me. So please don't add any additional effects to your recordings.
You are welcome to shorten your recordings to your best/favourite takes. However, please remove any takes that you don't want to be used.
· Please send me your recordings as a .wav /.mp3 file via Discord. If your file is too large for Discord, we can use email or SwissTransfer to avoid further issues.
· I will occasionally ask you to repeat lines, but only rarely and after careful consideration. I know your time is valuable, and I won't ask you to do something that can't be done in post-production.

The driver of the stolen vehicle - Asa has a loud and dominant voice. In the short animation she plays the role of a wyld-character.
(loud, self-sure) “No, man, the cops are trying to CATCH UP to us! But I’m not letting that happen!”
(uncaring, nonchalant) “Nah… I accidentally shifted from fifth gear straight into second.”
(whispers loudly and clearly) “Don't be so loud, or he'll realize we're skipping school!”

The level-headed but worried passenger - Sam is trying to calm Asa (the driver) down while also keeping the situation sane while the cop is around.
(loud, worried/scared) “Slow down! The cops are trying to overtake us!”
(After getting stopped by a cop - annoyed, insulting) “I knew we wouldn't get far in a stolen car.”
(Tries to come up with a fitting lie - unsure, stutter) “Don't listen to her! She's, uh… totally wasted!”

The girl in the trunk - Since the car only has two seats Ivy naturally is sat inside the trunk. Without the possibility of seeing anything happening on the outside she askes questions at the worst possible moments.
(serious, slightly worried) “Shit, did they shoot at us?!”
(disappointed, annoyed) “Oh.”
(genuine, curious) “Are we across the border yet?”

A regular police officer who stopped a car due to it having a gas pump hose hanging out of its fuel tank - They wish to have just ignored that car after talking to the students inside the car...
(serious) “Right then, do you know why I pulled you over?”
(surprised, out-of-character) “Excuse me?”
(cold, done with the situation) “Everyone out of the car.”
