Thank you all for your submissions! I've found a voice I'm happy with (even convincing myself to go with two narrators instead of just one), and so I've decided to close submissions earlier than I originally anticipated. It ended up being quite a competitive audition process, even for such a short amount of time, so I can't thank you all individually - but I do want to give a general thanks for showing so much interest in the project. Good luck in the future for anyone who auditioned, and whether you landed the role or not, I hope you'll check out the game when it releases :)

Looking for an audiobook-style narrator for an indie puzzle game project called "A Little Perspective". You can check out the trailer/game demo on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3485300/A_Little_Perspective/

The full game contains a narrative about 2 characters, told in two halves by two different narrators. The game has 117 levels containing story (~4700-4800 words in total), where a short, 1-2 sentence line plays at the start of each level. It being a puzzle game, levels may take minutes to complete before moving on - so this narrative, although being continuous and mostly linear, will be delivered in individual bits and pieces.

There is no dialog, only 3rd person high-level storytelling - so essentially I'm looking for an audio-book style narrator, with relaxed, low-key delivery and subtle emotion. It's a story with a lot of room for personal interpretation, and although the story has a range of happy/sad moodiness, I'd like to avoid suffocating the player's ability to reason about what's going on with over-acting.

I'd like the narration to sound pensive/intelligent, but not in a pompous way; rather in the same way as the type of person who's always able to find something interesting to contribute in a casual conversation. I'd like the delivery to sound like you're telling the story to someone face-to-face in a comfortable setting, rather than giving a grandiose performance.

Leaning towards a northeastern American, adult male (~30yo) voice actor, but given the omniscient 3rd person structure, I am open to other accents/styles/genders. The soundtrack has a chill lo-fi sort of vibe, so a voice that compliments this well is ideal.

This is a part-time project for me, so I may not be available at all hours!

  • The world has never been more connected. No matter how niche your interests may be, a community of like-minded individuals is almost always just a few taps away.

  • I want to tell you about a man named Fitch. Fitch's life was more or less typical - he'd just started college, was coasting through with decent enough grades, and was on track for a safe engineering career in a few years. But Fitch's true passion was music.

  • Maybe he wouldn't be so tired if he dropped the filter, and stopped overthinking what he wrote so much. He forcefully tried to remove the shackles of social expectation, but the echoing silence only made him feel more defeated.

For this second narrator role specifically, I'm looking for similar delivery to the original role - but maybe with a subtle hint of extra tiredness and apathy. I'd like the delivery to sound like you're telling the story to someone face-to-face in a comfortable setting, rather than giving a grandiose performance.
