Also keep in mind ATOP is a volunteer project until we gauge whether it will be profitable / have public interest when we launch our Proof of Concept and Kickstarter! WHAT IS ATOP?

All Types of People ( ATOP ) Is a lore-driven indie animated project created to engage viewers in a conversation about Moral philosophy, Human nature, Change, and Equality among people using symbolism and intriguing storytelling.

We weave in topics such as Mental Health, Childhood trauma and how it affects us as people, Mistreated minority groups [ LGBTQ+ , POC , etc .. ] , and more. We hope to provide awareness to those who have been treated wrongly by the world and mankind.

This series is meant to help build empathy and respect for those who are frequently excluded from society or hurt by it. We hope to also educate viewers on False world views, including Stereotypes, and encourage them to challenge those beliefs.

All in all, ATOP strives to create a conversation of change and positive impact on the world as a whole.

We plan for the story to be told through 2D frame-by-frame animation as ATOP is deeply inspired by traditional techniques and symbolic storytelling. We believe the medium should reflect the message. Imperfect, emotional, and overall: human.

SERIES SYNOPSIS

A grieving 12-year-old boy - overwhelmed by guilt and a crumbling family - dissociates into a world where he masks himself as a cruel and evil king in search of control, unintentionally becoming the villain in his own story.

His imaginary friend and an acquaintance from the real world must come to the realization that his world is indeed not real and save The King from himself before they're doomed to continue this cycle of torture and self-destruction forever.

    Hi! We’ve been looking through tons of auditions ( we had so many ! ) and we will be closing roles accordingly as we send DMs and info to ones we are interested in. I’m the meantime we are finally able to set up our Creative recruitment!

    This may be a redundant update , but We may or may want to use Earl for advertising purposes in the near future. So we may be prioritizing his role especially or actively looking for someone sooner on his role. Feel free to contact us is you are especially interested in his role or need help with his description, we've found he is a particularly hard voice to nail. Feel free to audition / re-audition as many time as you want. We'll be rifling through his auditions this weekend.

    We are actually so excited to see so many interested people and so many auditions ; 120+ is A TON!! We are slowly but surely looking through each audition as quick as we can. It’s so fun to hear everyone’s interpretations and voices. If you are dismissed don’t take it too hard on yourself at all! We will be working through these most likely on Monday, but you still have all the time in the world to submit as we will probably not be making any final decisions till later in the month or the end of the month. Or we might wait until deadline ticks through! Depends on if we select anyone for certain characters ! If you are shortlisted you are in high chance to be fit for the role of course! Base Description of Earl’s Character 

Earl used to be right hand man to the King, he was his imaginary friend after all, but now he’s both the King’s loyal servant and his enemy.

 He’s hardly really a person at all anymore, more like a feral creature born from the King’s fear and spite. He is forced to serve the King eternally, even though he actively plays against him. 

 He is sometimes rather emotionless and immune to the chaotic world of The King in which he hopes to destroy; taking on the representation of an isolating and closed-off coping mechanism toward grief.  

VOICING EARL

Playing Earl is like acting two roles at once. He can flip between being funny/charming and being angry/cold in an instant. He hides his inner conflict with a silly, goofy front, but deep down he’s unstable and struggling. His pitch can often  jump around a lot and isn’t steady Attributes mainly looked for are; 

  • Can be raspy
  • An ‘ air of whimsy ‘
  • Not too deep sounding 
  • Occasionally dramatic in tone
  • Ability to dip into ominous / unsettling tones.

Base Description of Dakoda’s Character 

Dakoda is a representative for childhood trauma and how it commonly affects children of his age. Prior to the traumatic incident, he was a cheerful, rebellious, and surprisingly well-mannered boy, absolutely brimming with youth and energy. However, following the tragedy, Dakoda undergoes a dramatic change. He becomes a deeply isolated child, grappling with overwhelming feelings of loss, confusion, and a profound sense of powerlessness. 

To cope with his trauma, Dakoda retreats into dissociation and denial, a common response for children facing overwhelming emotion. By disconnecting from his emotions and the harsh realities of his life, Dakoda seeks refuge from the pain and turmoil consuming him while seeking control. Yet, in doing so, he relinquishes control over his own existence and becomes trapped in a cycle of avoidance and detachment.

VOICING DAKODA

Voicing Dakoda is like playing two different characters. You are essentially acting as Dakoda and alternatively The King. While these are the same character they have different personalities, goals, and overall tone.

Dakoda embodies innocence, vulnerability, and a longing for escape from the harsh realities of his life. As Dakoda, the tone may be softer, more introspective, and tinged with sadness and/or frustration. 

It is preferred that whom ever voices Dakoda also voices The King, but arrangements might be made if this is found difficult.

Attributes;

  • Important to note character is a 12 year old male.
  • No Accent Required, preferred no heavy accent at all. 
  • “ Voice Cracks “ if possible 
  • Slightly Higher Pitched; Gender doesn't matter when it comes to who voices him due to this but a highish or immature tone needs to be consistent.

  1. Base Description of “The King” ‘s Character 

 The King is Dakoda’s alter ego used in his imaginary world known as The Paracosm.

 In this world he is mighty and untouchable but also Kind and Fair.. beloved by all in The Paracosm — at first. 

 As his frustration with reality and his situation mount, so does his cruelty towards his own fictional creation. He unintentionally rewrites himself as the violent villain of his story, maiming and torturing all who get in the way of his coping. 

VOICING “The King”

The King exudes authority, control, and a simmering rage born from grief and disillusionment. Voicing The King requires a shift to a more commanding tone, marked by arrogance, manipulation, and a sense of entitlement. He can also be characterized as very manic! He is prone to fits of hysteria and laughter. 

It is preferred that whom ever voices the King also voices Dakoda, but arrangements might be made if this is found difficult.

Attributes;

  • Important to note character is a 12 year old male.

Base Description of Vince’s Character 

 Vince is a quiet, reserved man. He is a loving father who in turn also has private struggles with mental health and identity. He is often gentle in nature, introspective, and thoughtful. While he has a lot of inward struggles, he channels his focus on his family keeping his train of thought regularly distracted and chained down to this alone. Most of his concerns go more towards others rather than himself.

VOICING VINCE

Vince’s voice would likely be somber and reflective of his usual burdened perspective on things. He is soft, gentle, and likely hesitant with his words. He has a habit of either too carefully choosing his words to the point he has delayed tone, or hardly thinks at all leading to a blunder of stuttering. Keep in mind he has a prominent stutter, it’s not too intrusive to his words but is a constant part of his character. His stuttering might be found to be less than if he is speaking confidently or to someone he is more comfortable around. His stutter should also sound realistic in a way, occasionally fully stopping on his words to correct himself even. Get silly with it but don’t make it intrusive to the scene.

Base Description of Doug’s Character 

 Douglas is a down-to-earth and blunt fella with a knack for keeping things realistic. In the story, he acts as a friend to Dakoda who genuinely guides him through his issues better than most. He’s better at navigating his emotions solely because he treats Dakoda as a person rather than just a kid with no broader knowledge of the world. 

VOICING DOUGLAS

 Douglas is rather monotone in a way. He is blunt with his words and his tone can often make him sound like he is uninterested in what others are saying. He is very quick to anger and has a bit of a temper naturally.

Base Description of Harol’s Character 

  Harol is a kind, sweet soul. His personality teeters on toxic positivity, ready to accept something even if it means confronting a gruesome reality. You could tell him the worst of news and he will find something great to say about it. 

 He represents a strong feeling of precontemplation and denial, embodying an almost naive optimism in the face of troubles. Secretly he struggles to keep a composed demeanor. He’d rather face the truth head on and find a way to skirt reality silently and underscores his attempts to maintain positivity as a coping mechanism.

He may or may not harbor feelings for his contrasting half, Douglas. 

VOICING HAROL

Harol is bright and enthusiastic!  He may have higher-than-typical adult male voice that hints at his FTM mid-transition stage. Slightly airy, warm, but strained when he’s trying too hard to sound upbeat. 

 That specific tension shows most when he’s nervous or covering up his true feelings.

Option to have his voice “crack” sometimes as well.

Base Description of Andy’s Character 

 Andy is the kind of fella who speaks like he’s doing everyone a favor by existing in the same room as them. He’s casually condescending in a way that he thinks is rather charming. He treats basic decency like an achievement rather than the norm. If someone calls him out, he doesn’t get angry so much as confused because in his mind, he’s already the good guy.

He’s essentially offensively confident and completely oblivious to it, he makes most situations about himself, tries to fix everything with the shallowest possible gesture and expects applause from the group. 


VOICING ANDY

 About mid-range male, very casual in tone and nature. His voice is smooth, upbeat, “friendly” and his tone can be read as smug at times. He’s way too confident and cocky. He’s a very punchable character.. he’s rude without realizing his own narcissism.

Base Description of Howard’s Character 

Howard is a character mostly dowsed in shadow and mystery.. shadow being taken literally. His character design is presented this way but in actuality he is a normal human being, although with twisted morals. In regards to his role in the series he could be seen as an antagonist but the rest of his character is left to mystery. He acts as many roles and goes under many different names.

VOICING HOWARD

 Howard's character is defined by his distinctive Southern drawl, thick and rasped. His voice is full of ominous intention and a tone of manipulation is very prominent.  There is a sinister charisma about him, almost too nice and spritey. He can sound sappily sweet with his words while his intentions are entirely shielded by this false nature. Occasionally he can dip into darker , menacing tones. 

Attributes; 

  • Gravelly
  • Southern accent / Redneck type feel 
  • Over compensated kindness in his tone
  • Ability to dip into ominous / unsettling tones.

Base Description of Robert’s Character 

 Dakoda’s grandfather and one of his current caretaker’s. He is also husband to John!  Robert is blunt, gruff, and relatively practical. He speaks his mind without sugarcoating and often comes across as cold or dismissive. Though, despite this, his intentions are fundamentally good. 

 He prioritizes efficiency and logic over emotional needs, which sometimes makes him seem unfeeling. Though he loves his family, he struggles to grasp the emotional weight of the current situation , believing that shielding Dakoda from harsh truths is the safest course. He is often very awkward when it comes to understanding emotions or comforting Dakoda. 

VOICING ROBERT

Robert is gruff, low to mid range, direct, and sorta has a nononsense to him. He can unintentionally come off as harsh or dismissive but not necessarily malicious. He is often steady and deliberate and often talks slowly when annoyed or to emphasize a point. Use short, clipped sentences.

Base Description of John’s Character

 John is sensitive, empathetic, and nurturing, often serving as the emotional opposite to Robert’s bluntness. 

 He deeply cares for his family and strives to maintain harmony, but his good intentions can blind him to the actual needs of Dakoda. John prioritizes comfort and innocence over confronting reality, believing that shielding Dakoda is the most loving approach.

VOICING JOHN

 John is soft, mid-range and gentle. He has a warm and soothing tone and can be often hesitant when confronted with conflict. He is confident enough though to speak with calm reassurance and comfort. He is smooth, warm, approachable!

Base Description of Nia’s Character 

Nia is Wingtail's dependable Sheriff and is a crucial pillar of support in maintaining its order. She has always found her job practically a breeze in such a seemingly perfect town! What could go wrong! She is a very relaxed but rough woman; the type to grapple someone unexpectedly just to ruffle up their hair.  Yet another of our characters honing a distinctive Southern drawl to them; she is a country woman at heart. She is very hearty in tone and often can be a bit of a jokester in the way an older sibling or obnoxious uncle might be. She has a pretty laid back and go-with-the-flow attitude that carries well into her tone. She is also a pretty loud person!

Base Description of Anna’s Character 

  Annabelle is very much the opposite of her cowardly husband, Vince ; sharp, strong-willed, and quick to temper. She rarely says anything she doesn't mean and Vince Knows it. Sadly this has also come to mean she is a rather toxic partner to him. 

 Even though her words can cut deep, her love for her childrenis palpable. In fact, she often finds parenting far easier than navigating the emotional weight of her spouse and prefers her kids to her husband. 


VOICING ANNA


Anna is firm , grounded, and very sharp-edged. Her voice can snap like a whip when irritated, but soften into warmth for her children. Controlled, deliberate. Rarely rambles. She gets to the point quickly, sometimes lacing her words with passive aggression or cold humor. Slightly lower than average for a woman, which gives her an authoritative presence.

Base Description of Tony’s Character 

 Tony is an anxious yet trying individual.

Their personality is a balance of teetering worry for each situation that unfolds around them. Despite their constant apprehension, Tony possesses the ability to remain calm when everyone else is in panic. They have a strong representation leaning towards bargaining and almost hopeless determination. They are willing to do whatever it takes to ensure the safety and well-being of those they care about, even if it means making difficult sacrifices

VOICING TONY

Tony’s voice is gentle, mid-range, and androgynous ( not distinctly masculine or feminine ); They are non-binary! 

 There’s a nervous edge when they’re flustered, but also a quiet authority when they’re pushed into a protective stance. Hesitant starts (lots of little “uh”s or pauses when nervous), but smoother and deliberate once they commit to a decision. When calm, their words are measured, grounding others around them. They have a parental feel to their nature.
