So Uh....It's Been A While...hasn't it...
I don't have much of an excuse for why I went radio silent without at least coming out at least several years earlier and saying that I was in over my head and probably shouldn't have organized a full fandub of a game without any experience in voice/scene direction. Not to mention I pursued this when I dropped out of college and slowly came to realize the endeavor I was getting into.
tl:dr; if anyone who I cast is still around, please put a message in that group DM as to whether or not you still wish to be a part of this.
To be honest, I've been dreading thinking about posting another update earlier just because I was still determined (at the time) to commit to eventually writing up the scripts and posting an update when they were done. Needless to say, it is now the year of Undertale's 10th Anniversary and if there was ever a time to revive this project, it'd be now.
A couple things; I'm not going to request the VAs for Undyne and Papyrus (if they're still around) to do the extra lines that happen when you call them in virtually every area. Nor will I attempt to account for every bit of extra dialogue, at least for the "initial run" script. Speaking of scripts, I realize that doing the scripts for every character in the game with the same consistency would be a grueling, time-consuming task that I should have admitted to being so a long time ago. So if anyone is still willing to partake in this, I'd like to request that you take the effort to. I'm lifting the spoiler etiquette since this game is nearly a decade old, and I'm certain the entire transcripts of every character is online by now, so don't feel pressured by my previous statements on that stuff. Of course since this is a big ask, and a full 8+ years have passed, I don't imagine every one having time nowadays to work on this sort of stuff, so in which case, please tell me in advance so I can work on scripting your lines first and foremost.
However, given that my interpretations of how a character should sound might not be the one to your liking, I'll also permit you to read the lines as you see fit (though I will attempt to provide context for the scenes should you require it). Once I figure out how this site now works, you can provide recordings as you finish however many lines you want for a specific batch. If possible, provide a raw version of the entire recording with all your takes (with enough dead air to allow me to do some voice filtering).
Although the anniversary itself is in September, I won't ask that to be the deadline (since I've long since abandoned that), but I will be actively eying this project for at least updates from those who auditioned (updates will still be infrequent due to having a full-time job). Ideally, getting every line from those involved with the opening section of the game would be the only thing I'd want before that time. And if this is something you actively do not want to be mentioned or involved in (given the stuff I've heard about the community over the years), then please let me know so I can remove you from the cast, unless you still wish to be credited as an apology for the time I've kept you all waiting. And for those that are no longer on the project, well...I'm sorry I didn't provide an update sooner and if by chance you happen to stumble onto this update, then let me know so I can mainly recast you into the roles you had before (if that's something I can do; if not, I'll still try and setup something somehow).
I'll provide another update later regarding that one character who was added in the Switch version of the game that I do plan to also cover in my playthrough. Although I should refrain from making empty promises like that, I didn't adopt the nickname for any of the characters in games I play "Hubris" for nothing. I'll also provide another update should this one cause some activity regarding more specific details about the plans for my playthrough (though to summarize it, it would be a basic playthrough that doesn't attempt to get every single bit of dialogue out of everyone that's possible in a first playthrough). Hopefully this time I won't let anyone down, and for anyone that I did, well...needless to say this has been a lesson in getting in over one's head.
