About YokweMusic

Hi! I’m Garrett Nelson, a film composer, audio producer, and multi-instrumentalist focused on creating music that strengthens storytelling and gives projects their own musical identity.

I hold a B.A. in Music Technology and have experience writing for orchestra, chamber ensembles, electronic production, and hybrid scores. My work has given me the opportunity to have original music recorded by professional musicians, including the RTVE Symphony Orchestra in Spain, as well as participate in international screen-scoring programs such as GEMS and the Screen Music Program in Italy.

As a saxophonist and performer, I also bring a musician’s perspective to composing. I love combining live instruments with orchestral and electronic production, and I’m especially interested in finding unique sounds and musical approaches that fit the personality of each project.

I’m looking to collaborate with filmmakers, animators, game developers, and other creators on projects where music can play a meaningful role in the storytelling. Whether a project needs an intimate solo-instrument score, a cinematic orchestral sound, an electronic/hybrid approach, or something more experimental, I’m always interested in exploring what best serves the story.

Most importantly, I value communication and collaboration. I want to understand what you’re trying to make, why you’re making it, and how I can help bring that vision to life through music.

Let’s make something memorable.

Instructed by Jason Bolte, Linda Antas, Wonki Lee

Bachelor of Arts in Music Technology with training in music composition, audio production, recording, sound design, and music technology. My studies combined traditional musicianship and composition with modern production workflows, including DAWs, MIDI, audio engineering, and music for visual media. The program helped build the technical and creative foundation I now use in film scoring, music production, and professional recording environments.
