Johnathan Sturgess

Johnathan Sturgess is an award-winning animator, director, editor, and filmmaker, born on April 18, 2011, in the South Suburbs of Chicago. He is the creator of the "Unstoppable" series, which follows the adventures of three kids—Max Stalnaker, Leo Moskowitz, and Sam Camacho—who transform into Unstoppable heroes. Often described as an old soul, Johnathan developed an early fascination with VCRs, DVRs, DVDs, and 1980s music. His curiosity about the actors behind his favorite animated characters sparked an interest in voice acting when he was around six years old.

Recognizing his creative potential, his father cast him in the student film "Drawing John." This experience helped cultivate Johnathan’s interests in acting, animation, and voice performance. In 2021, he began drawing trains and automobiles, which later expanded into character design, visual effects, animation, and chibi-style artwork.

In 2023, Sturgess received a nomination for Best Student Film Actor at the Nova Star Awards. He won the Nova Star Award for Best Young Director (Film/Animation) and was nominated for Best Throwback Project. On August 9, 2026, "Unstoppable: Star Power," one of his short films, won Best Animated Short – Tier I at the inaugural Illinois Film Festival in Wilmette, Illinois.
