About herbalistmama

Hullo and thanks for taking a peek at my page!  My acting/performing background is in theatre (and musical theatre), radio broadcast journalism and a bit of voice work...I have a passion for reading aloud, public speaking, and an ability (so I've been told) to mimic nearly any accent I can hear (some take more time than others to authenticate, haha).  I've long wanted to more seriously pursue acting and dialect coaching work.  As life finally affords a bit more time to do so, I'm jumping back into the performing space.

My professional background contains journalism, research, writing and editing.  Once upon a time I did some singing in public, haha, and would love to give that a go again if projects allow.  I prefer to participate in "family friendly" projects...playing parts and contributing to works that I would be comfortable allowing my kids to see/listen to.  So if I query you on the "rating" and content of a project, that's why.  I'm still discerning how to navigate those particular waters, so I beg your patience.

My natural vocal range is a smooth alto, and I tend to be typecast for my alto RP modulations.  But as all actors will surely agree, we love to stretch our chords and feel we can play a broad range of convincing characters.  I enjoy playing about with everything from a toddler voice to an elderly lady with a variety of dialect and tone modulations.  I am open to realistic and helpful critique.  My most used and most comfortable accents are listed in the sidebar.  I'm always up to studying more!

I put together a few demo reels that highlight my most comfortable working accents, some vocal ranges and characterizations.  I welcome you to take a listen and get a sense for my voices/capabilities.

Please do message me if you think I might be a good fit for your project.  I have a nice home studio and can record on relatively short notice.  I'm eager for character direction and not easily offended.  I will modulate to the best of my ability to morph into character.  And if my work isn't meeting your desires, I'm a fan of honesty.  Hope to work with you in future!  Cheers!

Herbalistmama fantastic voice actress, who deleivered exactly what I needed for my video and was able to record and deliver the v/o in the very short time frame I was working within. I would, without hesitation, highly recommend her to anyone looking for a skilled voice artist!

Herbalistmama has been a pleasure to work with. Always offering to do re-recordings when necessary (however their work has been so great, no Re-recordings have ever been needed). They have been able to get their lines in on time and has fitted in with our great community quickly and easily. I look forward to working with them on many more audio comic dubs in the future, should they want to continue to work with us. Highly recommend.

She was fantastic to work with easy going. And most importantly asked a lot of informative questions if she needed to ask about pronunciation or delivery of the lines given. Open to fixing stuff if you need it she was great to work with. Glad I had cast her in two roles. Her range was very good I hope she can continue to hone her craft.

I've been thrilled to work with herbalistmama on several projects now, and have found her to be an exceptionally capable and knowledgeable voice actor. She's punctual, responsive, and very accommodating to the needs and demands of each project. Her acting is emotive and believable, and her experience as a dialect coach means that she can realistically portray just about anyone, from just about anywhere. Can't wait to work with herbalistmama again in the future!

We had the pleasure of working with herbalistmama on our animated short film "Once Upon a Kingdom". Even though she only played a minor role, she gave it her all and approached every line with dedication and passion. She has a quick turn around, great response to direction, and overall positive attitude too. We chose her from a staggering 91 auditions, and couldn't have been more happy with our choice. Recommended.

Wow! I was so impressed. herbalistmama really went above and beyond. She asked interesting questions and really made a character out of the little material she was given. She was taking on the iconic role or General Leia from Star Wars and not only nailed the voice, but the stoic nature and delivery. Carrie Fisher would be proud! I'd recommend anyone should book ASAP!

HerbalistMama was a delight to work with. She does accents well, is very enthusiastic and easy to communicate with. She really helped me with an audio drama for a podcast as playing a sassy old lady. If I ever do something a drama like this for the show, I will definitely invite her to help.
