@carlyfranklinvoVersatile voice actor, here to bring your project to life, from boardroom to creature feature!
Hi, I'm Carly! I'm a newer voice actor based in the Pacific Northwest, though "new to VO" doesn't mean new to using my voice - I spent years in public speaking training, theatre (my first job was in a costume department), and now work as a certified yoga and meditation instructor, including as an approved meditation teacher on Insight Timer. All of that gave me a real comfort with pacing, tone, and holding an audience's attention, which I'm now channeling into voiceover.
I'm drawn to corporate and eLearning work, medical narration, non-fiction audiobooks, and character/creature roles - basically anything that lets me shift between calm and grounded on one end, and then big and playful on the other. A lifelong love of storytelling (thanks to my English-major mother, who instilled an obsession with reading, and years spent watching more musicals, operas, and Shakespeare productions than I can count) shows up in how I approach every script.
I record from a professional home studio, with access to a Source Connect-equipped booth and live engineer for directed sessions when a project calls for it. I am a member of Skillshub, as well as Be Seen Be Heard with Rob and Helen Bee. I am coached by Jessica Geffen of The Sound Stage in Vancouver, WA, and have also had coaching sessions with Tom Dheere, and Sébastien Croteau. I have attended live NAVA community classes, as well as classes on the Skillshub platform, and in person at The Sound Stage in Vancouver, WA. I was also the lucky recipient of a scholarship to attend the 2024 eVOcation conference.
What I love voicing: Corporate & eLearning • Medical Narration • Non-Fiction Audiobook • Creature/Character
Find me elsewhere: Insight Timer • LinkedIn • Voices.com • Backstage
Open to volunteer and portfolio-building work. For paid projects, I ask industry-standard rates.
I am open to a variety of projects. I want to practice my accents, character work, extreme vocalizations, and creature voices. I am also always looking for work in e-learning, explainer, corporate and medical narration, and other projects outside of character work.
