About Adam Wayne

I’m Adam Wayne, a British composer, arranger and transcriber, born in Yorkshire and now based in Staffordshire. I write lyrical, often large-scale music with harmony rooted in the late Romantics, but I’m just as happy writing an 8-bit loop as a five-movement symphony.

I came to composing through playing. I started the clarinet at seven and have since played bass clarinet, trumpet, trombone and double bass, so I’ve sat in the woodwind, brass and string sections and know what each one can do. I play with Lichfield Sinfonia and Stafford Sinfonia, and I deputise for orchestras, concert bands and theatre pit bands across the UK.

Examples of recent work:

  • Game music: Chronicles of Solara (36 minutes of tabletop RPG background and ambient music), Tide & Tile (a calm looping puzzle-game score) and Coach Simon Says (an 8-bit trampolining game).

  • Film and TV: rescores of scenes from Cast Away and Cunning Stunts.

  • Concert work: A Staffordshire Symphony, A Festival Overture, and A Falling Leaf, a Debussy-inspired saxophone quartet.

What I’m into: fantasy themes, which I’ll never tire of writing, plus love scenes, ambient loops and anything that needs a memorable melody.

I work remotely, deliver mixed audio ready to drop in, and reply within two working days.

Pricing

Every project is quoted individually. Tell me what it is, how much music you need and when you need it, and I’ll come back within two working days with a real number rather than a vague range. There’s no obligation at that stage.

What shapes the price:

  • Length: total minutes of music is the biggest factor.

  • Scope: a single theme, a set of looping cues, or a full score to picture.

  • Deadline: a normal lead time costs less than a rush.

  • What’s included: stems, loop points and rounds of revisions.

  • Licence: where the music will be used, on which platforms, and for how long. We agree this up front so there are no surprises later.

You’ll hear sketches early, while the music can still change, so you’re deciding on something you’ve actually heard. I’m open to unpaid or revenue-share work on passion projects that really grab me, so do ask. Message me here or email via adamwayne.uk to start.

What Adam Wayne is looking for

What I’m looking for

I want to write music for stories and for the concert hall. I’m especially keen on:

  • Animations and short films: scenes I can score to picture, where the music follows the cut and sits under the dialogue.

  • Games: looping exploration and battle cues, menu themes and victory stings, from 8-bit to full orchestra.

  • Audio dramas and podcasts: theme tunes, scene transitions and underscore that set the mood without crowding the voices.

  • Tabletop RPGs and fantasy worlds: I’ll never tire of writing a big fantasy theme.

  • Concert and performance work: new pieces and arrangements for orchestras, concert and brass bands, choirs and chamber groups, from community ensembles to professional players. Having played in orchestras and pit bands for years, I write parts that players enjoy and can actually play.

I’m happiest when I can join early, while the music can still shape the project rather than being added at the end. I’d like to work with creators and ensembles who have a clear sense of what they want and enjoy talking through what each piece needs to do.

In return, I’d like a real credit, finished work I can share in my portfolio, and collaborators I’d want to work with again. Beyond that, I want to grow as a composer across screen, games and the concert hall, and every project teaches me something new.
