Position: Script Editor & Story Consultant
Department: Writing / Story Development
Work Format: Remote Collaboration

Role Overview

Wings of Ash is an independent dark fantasy 3D animated feature film currently in pre-production.

We are looking for a Script Editor & Story Consultant to help refine an existing original screenplay.

The film explores elemental magic, family conflict, difficult choices, emotional consequences, and morally complex characters.

The core story, characters, and major plot developments have already been established by the film's creator and director.

This position focuses on strengthening the screenplay while preserving its original creative vision.

Responsibilities
  • Review and edit the existing screenplay.

  • Improve dialogue to make conversations natural, emotionally convincing, and appropriate for each character.

  • Identify plot holes, inconsistencies, and unclear character motivations.

  • Evaluate story structure, pacing, tension, and emotional progression.

  • Help strengthen dramatic scenes, conflicts, and character development.

  • Check continuity between scenes and story events.

  • Suggest improvements to scene transitions and narrative clarity.

  • Help format the screenplay using professional screenwriting conventions.

  • Provide constructive feedback and propose alternative dialogue or scene revisions.

  • Track assigned revisions and feedback through ClickUp.

  • Collaborate directly with the film director during script development.

Requirements
  • Strong English writing and editing skills.

  • Understanding of screenplay structure and dialogue writing.

  • Ability to analyze character motivations and narrative consistency.

  • Experience writing or editing fictional stories, scripts, or screenplays.

  • Ability to provide constructive feedback without overriding the original author's vision.

  • Reliable communication and willingness to work collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with feature-length screenplays.

  • Familiarity with fantasy, drama, or animated films.

  • Understanding of foreshadowing, suspense, and plot twists.

  • Experience using screenwriting software.

  • Ability to identify storytelling problems and suggest practical solutions.

Creative Authority

The original story and creative vision belong to the film's creator and director.

The Script Editor may suggest revisions, rewrite assigned dialogue, and propose improvements, but major changes to the story, characters, and ending require the director's approval.

Final creative decisions remain with the director.

Application

Please include:

  • Examples of scripts, dialogue, or fiction you have written or edited.

  • A brief description of your writing or editing experience.

  • Your preferred screenwriting software.

  • Your approximate weekly availability.

Shortlisted applicants may be invited to complete a brief editing exercise using a sample scene.
