So far yours comes the closest to what our team is envisioning and aiming for. The rest of the team expanded a bit more into what we are looking for than I initially mentioned in the listing... and that is my bad... Feedback from the director:
"Hey! You are actually getting really close to the pocket on the sarcasm, the dry wit, and the casual, bored genius vibe. You've captured the 'jerk' side of him really well.
However, I want to lean a bit heavier into the subtext and the contrast.
Shelldred isn't just a funny, sarcastic evil turtle. Underneath that lazy, perpetually annoyed facade is a cosmic-level threat. He’s an apex predator wearing a mask, constantly holding a leash on a monster. Most of the time, he can't be bothered to care, but when he does get genuinely crossed or annoyed, that dark side needs to bubble up briefly before he masks it again.
How to play it:
The Facade: Keep the casual, slow-paced, unimpressed delivery. He sounds like a corporate executive who thinks everyone else in the room is an idiot.
The Switch: When the menace comes out, He does not go into a loud cartoon rage. Instead, do the opposite: let the voice drop into a quiet, cold, deadpan flatline. The sarcasm peels away completely, leaving a chilling, effortless hint that he could destroy a timeline just because it's annoying him. It should feel like a masked threat, dangerous, controlled, and deeply unsettling.
If you can nail that pivot from lazy, sarcastic snark into a quiet, chilling drop of absolute lethality, you've got the exact character. Would love to hear one more take with that specific contrast in mind!"
well I did do two takes, did you mean the gruff one or the pompeous one?
A mixture of both the pompous is a bit closer to the typical more bored version and the more gruff lower tone is closer to what we envision for his colder darker side that occasionally surfaces if that makes sense
I think I see what you mean, I will get on it soon
