Shi Qilin first appears as a lively and jubilant individual, acting with a cheery disposition. Though, his positivity can come off as cheeky and impudent when he acts that way on bad habits, such as leaving his eggs with other beasts, or constantly asking other Qilin about finding a partner.

Based on his description and currently-seen happy demeanor, he is easily assumed to be very kind and generous to others, especially with granting the mortals his blessings since the beginning.

In the past, he is shown to be mature and level-headed, and extremely caring towards his (at the time) small family. Although, he can sometimes act carried away at his own words, such as his gossiping attitude inadvertently convincing his children to finding the dangerous Zhulong.

He is also a passionate yet foolish romantic, shown to be constantly loving towards his wife, though can act quite gloomy whenever he thinks about her in modern-day (due to her disappearance), and has a tendency to push his many children or other Qilin to finding partners.
