Daniel Mercer is the 52-year-old founder and CEO of the Mercer Foundation, a highly respected charitable organization that provides housing, financial assistance, and legal support to vulnerable individuals.

To the public, Mercer is a successful philanthropist, respected businessman, and generous community leader. He is intelligent, articulate, persuasive, and accustomed to being the most powerful person in the room.

Behind his public reputation, however, Mercer has spent years exploiting his position, manipulating vulnerable people, concealing financial misconduct, and using his influence to silence those who threaten to expose him.

He is not a stereotypical villain. Mercer genuinely believes that the good his organization accomplishes outweighs his personal wrongdoing. He views himself as indispensable and considers anyone who challenges him a threat to everything he has built.

In Episode 1, Mercer receives an unexpected phone call from a mysterious individual known as Specter.

What initially appears to be an irritating prank call gradually becomes a psychological confrontation. As Specter reveals increasingly specific information about Mercer's past, Mercer must decide how much to deny, what to conceal, and whether the person on the other end of the phone actually knows the truth.
