Nightstar Gambit - Writers Call
Viro for Yuki Shirogane
Yuki Shirogane
Archetype: Dandere (Drones)
Gender: Female
The quietest person on the ship, so easy to miss the headcount forgets her, is secretly SNOWDROP, the most famous VTuber in the fleet. Forty drones follow her everywhere.
The archetype, Dandere: Painfully shy and quiet, until you get to know her.
What it means: From danmari (silent). A dandere barely speaks around people, not from coldness but from nerves. With the right person, or when it really matters, she opens up.
Where the comedy is: The distance between how little she says and how much is going on inside. Tiny lines, big panic.
Well-known examples: Hinata Hyuga (Naruto), Komi (Komi Can't Communicate), Hitori Gotoh (Bocchi the Rock).
Built from: VTuber Legend (the stream accidentally left on), Macross Frontier's Ranka Lee (the shy girl whose song stops a war), Shangri-La Frontier's Rei Saiga, Komi's notebook, Kuroko's faint presence, Bocchi the Rock as a nod.
The menace: Forty feral drones defend her honor and swarm anyone who startles her. Snowdrop's stream leaks the ship's movements. At the worst moment, nobody can find her. She's right there.
How Yuki sounds: Adult woman. Two voices from one person: Yuki is a soft, hesitant near-whisper; Snowdrop is bright, confident and streamer-loud. The finale is Yuki singing in her own voice, shaking, then steady.
The season (8 episodes): A comedy of a person nobody notices (EP1-3), turning on the reveal of Snowdrop (EP4), the stream left on mid-battle (EP5), a feral swarm she calms (EP6), a rival who wants to unmask her (EP7), and the song, sung with her own face (EP8).
The job: write Yuki's whole season as short scenes, in our plain-text script format. The story beats and the game outcomes are set; the jokes, the staging and every line are yours. You get a full writer package: the character bible, every episode's beats and choices, how scenes play on screen, and two finished example seasons you can click through.
Length: one character season, 8 episodes of roughly 190 to 250 words each (about 1,520 to 2,000 words in total).
AUDITION - Please mind the delivery format. Ability to deliver correctly formatted work will weigh strongly when choosing writers:
Episode 5, "Stream Left On"
Why this one: Last night's stream is still live in the middle of a battle, and the enemy is subscribing.
What you need to know: Yuki is so quiet the headcount keeps missing her. Her secret, which the crew has just found out: she's SNOWDROP, the most famous VTuber in the fleet. Forty drones follow her and act on her feelings.
What happens (the beats are fixed; the jokes, the staging and every line are yours):
- Combat, and she has forgotten to end last night's stream. It's still live, showing the drone camera feeds.
- Snowdrop's audience is watching the real battle, and so, it turns out, is the enemy. The enemy is subscribing.
- The counter hits one million, and forty drones go feral with joy and swarm the nearest frigate.
Then the player picks one of these:
1. Congratulate her live, on stream.
2. Cut the stream mid-battle.
3. Let the enemy keep subscribing.
Write: the scene (3 to 8 lines), then the result of ONE choice of your pick (up to 5 lines). A spoken line is up to 40 words.
Format: copy this layout exactly. Auditions that follow it score higher.
BODY
[beat] Narration the player reads. Nobody speaks.
YUKI (how it's said): A spoken line.
DECK OFFICER (flat) {sweat}: Other speakers work the same way. The {emote} is optional.
CHOICE 2
LABEL: The button text, in the captain's voice. ("Ask her...", "Tell him...")
RESULT
YUKI (how it's said): What happens after that choice.
