Archetype: Genki (Engineering)

Gender: Male

A shonen hero who happens to be the chief engineer: he eats for twenty, lives for a strong opponent, and powers up by building something ridiculous out of scrap, at the worst possible moment.

The archetype, Genki: Boundless energy, appetite and optimism.

What it means: Genki means lively. The genki type runs at full volume all the time: loud, hungry, excited, and sure everything will work out.

Where the comedy is: Scale and stamina. Eating for twenty, getting excited by strong enemies, never running out of fuel.

Well-known examples: Goku (Dragon Ball), Luffy (One Piece), Naruto.

Built from: One Piece's Franky (the SUPER shipwright), Dr. Stone's Senku (science as shonen hype), Hajime no Ippo's tiny terrifying coach, and Dragon Ball nods: eats for twenty, the gold hair, the charged finisher.

The menace: He challenges anything strong to a fight, on open channels, including whole fleets, and the Nightstar has to back him up. He also takes the training weights off in the engine room.

How Doc sounds: Adult man. Loud, warm, sunny, a huge smile you can hear. Never sarcastic. Drops into a calm, quiet focus for about one line per episode when something actually matters.

The season (8 episodes): A shonen engineer comedy: the plate catch (EP1), a build that breaks the scanner (EP2), his old master's failing station (EP3-4), a training arc of repairs under fire (EP5), one real fight (EP6), a 'transformation' that was the emergency lighting (EP7), and the build that saves the light (EP8).

The job: write Doc's whole season as short scenes, in our plain-text script format. The story beats and the game outcomes are set; the jokes, the staging and every line are yours. You get a full writer package: the character bible, every episode's beats and choices, how scenes play on screen, and two finished example seasons you can click through.

Length: one character season, 8 episodes of roughly 190 to 250 words each (about 1,520 to 2,000 words in total).

AUDITION - Please mind the delivery format. Ability to deliver correctly formatted work will weigh strongly when choosing writers:

Episode 6, "One Real Fight"

Why this one: His genki menace at full size: he drags two fleets into a standoff and settles it with an arm-wrestle.

What you need to know: Doc's old master, Granny Light, is a tiny, terrifying woman keeping a failing lighthouse station alive. The parts she needs belong to a salvage outfit that won't sell. Her one rule for Doc: his training weights stay on.

What happens (the beats are fixed; the jokes, the staging and every line are yours):

- At the marked system, the salvage outfit's whole armada guards the parts Granny Light needs. Before the captain can hail them, Doc does, on every open channel: he challenges their strongest to a fight for the parts.

- The armada powers up its guns. So does the Nightstar. Their champion, Crusher Voss, accepts, and the whole standoff now hangs on two people arm-wrestling on the Nightstar's hull, in space suits, in zero gravity, while two fleets aim at each other.

- Granny Light's only rule: weights stay on. Doc is having the best day of his life.

Then the player picks one of these:

1. One fight. Weights on. Nobody breaks anybody.

2. No. Battle stations. The parts get taken the normal way.

3. Hand it to Kenji. He knows a bracket. (only offered if Kenji is aboard)

Write: the scene (3 to 8 lines), then the result of ONE choice of your pick (up to 5 lines). A spoken line is up to 40 words.

Format: copy this layout exactly. Auditions that follow it score higher.

BODY

[beat] Narration the player reads. Nobody speaks.

DOC (how it's said): A spoken line.

DECK OFFICER (flat) {sweat}: Other speakers work the same way. The {emote} is optional.

CHOICE 2

LABEL: The button text, in the captain's voice. ("Ask her...", "Tell him...")

RESULT

DOC (how it's said): What happens after that choice.
